  1. Just received a note from a buddy saying that Smelt were illegal for bait. Where does it say that in the regs? They are not a game fish? Temagami has a reg. against bait over 5.5" but can still use smaller ones.
  2. My 12 year old Border Collie / lab mix is now on pain management medication for his arthritis. The medication costs $128 for 100 mls. The bottle will only last me 3 weeks and he will be on it for the rest of his life.
  3. Should be good on the weekend.
  4. Here is the in-between pictures. The after shots will ake a day or 2 The 3 on the left were just cut and scooped out. The others I sliced down one side of the back bone for easier (faster) cooking. I used Italian flavoured Fish Crisp and Salt/pepper. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Washing it down with a cold beer right now.
  5. Thanks fang. So one person can only possess 120 smelts regardless of the planned use?
  6. Luc when they run 1 guy can easilly get 70 an hour. There was 4 of us and we were at the creek for 3 hours.
  7. Does 120 apply to live bait only? If they are salted (dead) does the limit apply? How about smelt posession? If we are gonna eat some and use some for bait how does the possession limit apply?
  8. O.K. where can I land my Leer jet? Wait a minute...where can I get my pilot's licence?
  9. I cleaned over 40 last night. I'm guessing you had about 30 making our # close to 70. Biggest one I had was around 8 inches. I kept a few biggies to salt and freeze for the big pike. My lucky strike net held up but my folding Rapala net now requires a new handle. Good times. Here is a picture I took this morning. On pack is frozen and the other will be consumed today.
  10. Put his face somewhere it shouldn`t have been?
  11. In the stream that flows into the lake Seriously we are in North Bay so our spots don't help you. Take the drive to Magnetewan and you'll do well when they run.
  12. Wow, 7-8.5 lbs. average. That's some good walleye.
  13. Yes they are starting to run here...just not from Nip yet.
  14. Paul...I think it affects us all in the same way. Some to a lesser degree. I am a member on a few forums but I never seem to check them???? OFC ROCKS.
  15. So you're releasing "professional guiding info." now? lmao.
  16. Isn't that The Twilight Zone? Nice catch.

  18. Ya I checked Lefebvres, North Bay Outfitters, Can Tire, and Walmart. Lefebvre's actually had the best selection and best price. Their St. Croix Premiers were $40 cheaper then N.B. Outfitters! Pretty sure I'm going with the Shimano Convergence or the Premier. Compres are nice at Walmart but all 1 piece.
  19. I PMd you.
  20. A huge loss for the OFC community. My condolences to his family and friends. R.I.P.
  21. I have a Plano Guide series bag that holds 5 plano trays. I have them set up to hold my various baits for walleye and bass. (Jigs and soft plastics in one, crank baits in another, spoons in one, spinners in one and then my hooks, weights, terminal tackle, clippers, lighter, etc in the 5th one). If I am gonna target pike or muskie (my 1st year too) I have a large double sided plastic box that holds all my lures up to 10". Seems to do the trick for now but I am in the process of re-organizing. In my garage I have 9 tackle boxes, some full, some 1/2 and others empty. I went with my 8 year old and made him his own box today for fishing off the dock. I'm going to donate some of my stuff to our public librarry as they have a loan program for kids that want to go fishing but don't have the gear. Check out the Show Off your Tackle box thread for some ideas. Lots of great pics there.
  22. Here is an excellent story from OOD magazine on Ahmic Lake and Cecebe. A good read for any angler. Article
  23. I was at a local retailer today looking at baitcaster rods to pair up with my Shimano Castaic. I looked at the 6.6 St.Croix Premier series (2 piece) and one made by Jaxon. The seller said it was a Polish company and the rod I was looking at was an Italian design. It was called the Grand Virtuoso. It was 6.6 and was very stiff. Jaxon I need a 2 piece rod because I will break a one piece rod. Is Jaxon at all comparable to the St. Croix Premier? I also looked at the Shimano Convergence rod and a few cheaper models. Any imput on the rods listed would be great especially the Jaxon product.
  24. You can stop in and visit us in North Bay?
  25. Randy, Is the river completly free of ice? Lots of water at the launch?
