1. I never look at my GPS for the time. I didn't even know it had the time. I have this thing on my wrist called a watch that tells me the time. Well....to be honest, I have to read it...it tells me nothing. My mom however has a talking watch...that one tells her the time. What was the question again?
2. Congrats! Getting the first out the way is the key. You wont be able to keep them off your hook now....
3. Thanks everyone for the comments! It was a really great song to learn and play..... No insults there Dano....those two surprised me BIG time when I saw that film! Likewise Dan...would be great to meet you one day! I feel the same way about the photos that you take....simply amazing talent. Wow....20 minutes for a 3 minute song...LOL. Thanks for the compliment and for waiting it out Bernie!!! On the G2G playlist for sure! Thanks.
4. Sorry bout the non fishing post, but I wanted to share this tune. This is a song that my friend (Hazel) and I worked on a little for that camping trip that Bly and I went on this past summer. Singing around the fire is a tradition and this was the new song for the year. It's written by Graham Nash (performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young)...a classic song called Teach Your Children. The version in this video consists of one guitar and two voices...although I do have a version that has a bass line and a second harmony line added. Anyhow, here it is...hope you enjoy! <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l7ihoFFHiE&hl=en&fs=1">
5. Google is my friend. I ended up at a bunch of other sites first...checked them out, found them very impersonal. Then I found OFC. I lurked for about a month before joining because there was something different about OFC....
6. Well, last weekend, Bly asked me what I'd like to do for my birthday, so I responded of course to get away for the day to fish. I didn't care where, as long as we got out there. Our first thought was to hit a Kawartha Lake, but then Slowpoke got in touch with us and asked if we'd like to join him in his boat to fish the big lake for Salmon our Trout! We haven't seen Slowpoke since Lakair, so it was a double bonus to be able to catch up with him and hopefully get a fish or two. We hopped into our car at 530 and headed for a Tim Hortons to meet up. Bly and I got into his vehicle and headed to the boat launch....may as well save parking costs on our vehicle. We got out on the water, and it was foggy....and getting foggier by the minute!! Here's a shot of the shoreline...we were not that far out. A little while after that pic was taken, we couldn't see any land at all. It was kind of surreal out there....smooth as glass, no wind to speak of and all the sounds were somewhat muted....very eerie!! Our ship's Captain, Slowpoke was in search of the fish.....here he is intent on finding something out there!! We trolled around in 25 to about 40 feet of water, and marked lots of fish...mostly around the 2o to 3o foot range, but the bite was just not there. Here's a pic of the setup off one side of the boat...we had 6 lines in, 2 on downriggers, 2 on dipseys, and few on leadcore. We saw plenty of boats out there and only saw one of them actually land a fish. It wasn't looking good for us. After being out there for 4 or 5 hours with nothing to show for it, I was thinking that the skunk was on for us. That was ok though...there was lots of talk and laughs. Suddenly, we hear one of the dipsey setups go off!! I'm sitting closest to it so I go to set the hook. I went to give Bly the rod, when she says "It's your birthday..you take it", so the fight was on. It was a pretty good fight! It kept going deep and then coming to the surface to jump. When it jumped close to the boat, we saw a great profile of it...it was dark in colour, but it was a biggun!! Slowpoke expertly handled the net....here it is....measured in at 38 inches....didn't bother to weight it. This is what it was caught on... After that, we continued on trolling, but nothing else was biting. As we headed in we talked to a few others who were out there....they all had said it was very slow....boating only one, so at least it wasn't just us...LOL. Anyhow, thanks Brian....we had a great day out there with you and I didn't spill any tackle either...LOL. It was great meeting your family afterwards as well. We'll have to work out an arrangement to hook up for those LSC muskies this fall!!!
7. Huh? Who are you and why the hell are my pants wet?
8. Great catch!!! You gotta love it when the temps come down a bit and the big fish are catchable from shore. I hope to see more successful shore outings!!
9. Oh man...you were telling me about this trip. You'll have a blast....and I cant wait for the report Mike!!! Good luck and be safe....
10. Listen here smartdonkey!!! I was already in a meeting when you typed this....they had a cake for me. Maybe next year...hehe. I wish I was!!! Important meetings and workshops today though....looks like I can leave soon though. Gee....thanks Roy.....I think....LOL Hey now...I really am 39....seriously.... Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes...hopefully bly and I can catch some salmon and trout tomorrow morning with Slowpoke.....
11. No OFC sign cause I caught a bigger one last week....just haven't updated our team thread yet!!
12. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! Great fish guys!! Congrats!
13. I use paypal all the time. Only ever had one ebay dispute, and they reversed the charges after their standard wait time. In fact, I'm leary of paying for anything online if it's NOT paypal.
14. Same here, I've seen them jumping at river mouths and piers for a few weeks now. I hear they are running up the creeks, but I don't fish for them there, so I can't say for sure.
15. It's not what you have now...you said you were paying 35 for DSL light...he's getting DSL for the same price...much faster than light. The light cost is half the price of what you are paying for now.
16. Yep...Dutch is the way to go. I'm just too cheap, so I get off at the 404. Friday morning traffic is much lighter than any other day of the week, so booting down the 404 and then onto the 401 could be faster, although there will be no traffic staying on the 407 and hitting hwy 7. If you're going to hit traffic it'll be west of the city anyways (and the west end of the city itself). At any rate, hope you have a speedy and safe drive.
17. Line ups are on the street now!!!
18. Ohhhhhhhhhhh..... Now I understand.....
19. Saw this a little while ago on the board.... Someone said they called and asked what the interior or the RV looked like, and the reply was "A Boat".
20. LOL... I thought the same thing, but the pins/spikes just wreck the eggs. Maybe yell some profanities at it? Seriously though, check out that link provided by Marko.
21. Wow!! You guys laid a beating on those fish! congrats! Love fall weather....jackets and touques in the morning and shirtless in the afternoon. Great pics!
22. Wait a minute...did you just call me a horses mouth? LOL. Anyhow, I just re-read your original post....you said AM, so forget my PM stuff....haha.
23. We typically only have an hour to an hour and a half to fish in the evening, so prepping the boat, launching and then taking the boat out and prepping it to be towed home is hardly worth it. We have thought about it though, when there are lots of people down there!!
24. Thickson is atually the last exit in Whitby. Taunton Rd East starts east of Simcoe Street in Oshawa, so I'd stay on the 401 til the Harmony rd exit. I live in Whitby, just off Thickson, so I'm pretty familiar with the area once you hit the east end.
