Great report! Now that she has the fishing bug, I think you'll be hitting the water more often now!! Good on ya for easing her into the sport...hehe. I'd say she's a keeper. Tell her congrats for her first boat fish...and a nice one at that.

Would a walleye tourney be tough with the slot that's in place there? Or would it be snap a pic with a ruler to get credit? Actually, why am I chiming in...I cant even go....LOL.

Attawapiskat. The River That Pike Built.

Wow...chalk up yet another chapter in "The Many Fishing Adventures of The Mighty Moosebunk"!!! I would have replied earlier, but I find I like to set up with a coffee in one hand, the children in bed, and no TV on so I can read every word uninterrupted. This report had me riveted!!! I have never seen so many big pike in one report before. The walleye were gorgeous as well. I loved the "about 2 weeks" thing...LOL. What a great adventure....I can only hope to catch just a glimpse of the kinds of fishing trips that you go on! Thanks for that....must have taken hours to compose that report...appreciate the effort!! -
Had to read your report again...thought you were bragging about outfishing your cute little daughter.....LOL. She'll be outfishing you soon...you just wait and see.....haha. Great report!! I have so much to learn about bass it's not even funny. Congrats to your little one on her rock bass...ounce per ounce they fight like kings!!

All watches have been canceled now. Too bad...I love a good storm!!

Glad to hear you got out safely!!! I was on Scugog not too long ago when the same thing happened...not as much drama as your experience though!
-
Oh man...that darned plug!!! My very first launch ever....I back down the ramp with the boat still on it. Half way into the water I put the brakes on because my mind is screaming about the plug. Only got a little water in there, but it's still enough to rattle you!! Glad to hear you got it all sorted out and got into a few fish with your son!!!

Hmmm....don't know if I can trust you!! I'm looking through my plastics and he points and says "That's the hot bait there...use that". I put it on and start casting. I then look at what he's throwing and it's not only NOT the same bait, it's a completely different colour. He also gave me the hooks to use. On my last cast I noticed that the he had crimped all the barbs down and cut off the tips of all the hooks. Other than all that I suppose I will try to set the hook more next time. Good thing I had the dull hooks though cause on a few hooksets I almost dinged myself in the head....

I just got the Lowrance H20c with Navionics Gold maps. I love the thing...it's awesome on lakes I'm not familiar with...which right now is pretty much every lake...LOL.

Wow.... You think my CRV can handle that drive?? LOL. Looked like an amazing time TJ! You didn't try to kiss any of the guys did ya? -
You ate something out of Lake O? Guess it'll be easy to find you shore fishing next time...just look for the glow.... Great report Kemper...and some real nice fish too. I never make fun of other people's fish (ok..except for Mike the Pike), cause I know it'll come back and bite me in the butt!! LOL
-
Nice going Jigger! I don't know where fish usually hang out, so I'm just all over the place out there...LOL. This having a boat thing takes a little getting used to.

Just last week my wife and I headed down to our fav shore spot without our fishing rods. Ok...so that was a mistake, but that's pretty minimal...

I hear you.... With my luck this year, there are no fish in Scugog and Sturgeon either....

Will is such a great guy! He invited me out on his boat on Saturday...and it was a perfect day. The morning was a bit cool, and when we arrived at the launch, there was a mist over the water. The day started out slowly, with no fish in the boat until finally, mid morning, Will catches the first bass of the day! You know, he seems like a pretty nice guy, but when it comes to bassin', he's pretty competitive. Here he is nosing another boat out of where he wants to cast. See the look of disbelief on his face after he cut off this other guy? It sure paid off though, after pissing that guy off so much that he left, he casts in there and lands this beauty. We then headed over to some docks and he pulled out one of the biggest rock bass that I've ever seen!! Will ended up catching the last fish of the day...this beauty.... Thanks for taking me out Will...and letting me be the official photographer of the day. I thought you were inviting me fishing....maybe next time you'll let me make a few casts? I'm not complaining, just that this is a fishing board and all... ======================================================================= The real story... Will caught all those fish shown in the pics...as well as a bunch of others we didn't bother taking pics of. Me? I caught a rock bass and a perch I did manage to hook into the biggest fish of the day, but since Will doesn't have a 20 foot handle on his net, I didn't land it.... If you get a chance to fish with Will for bass, you'll learn a TON about fishing the slop as they say. His reaction time is impressive and I have a LOT to learn as far as working baits are concerned. Oh yeah...that guy in the other boat is his buddy...he came over to chat while as we moved along the shoreline....LOL.

I can just see Andy looking at you like....hey...what's the problem...shoot THAT animal???

At least your shed didn't sink then.

$430 fine while fishing on Scugog this weekend

I keep mine in a ziplock bag and keep it in a bag where I keep all my electronics. That bag comes out of the boat after each trip. -
I agree with the confidence thing, although I have no proof of how confidence affects 'how' you fish. My wife and I fish the same areas at the same time. Last year, with her throwing a classic red devil spoon, she caught brown after brown. I used the same thing, caught nothing. Another example....we both throw little cleos for fall salmon...I catch them all the time on them, and she wasn't as lucky. Strange, but I think you get 'tuned' in to how a lure is moving through the water, and are able to replicate it once it works...you can't explain how, but there are some finesse things being done that you dont even realize you are doing. Not sure if this made any sense....

Just last week, Bly and I hurriedly got all our gear together to hit a local carp spot. The whole time, Bly keeps saying "I know I'm forgetting something". We get to our spot...open the back of the CRV and start pulling gear out. I then said "Where are the rods?" At that moment she remembered what we forgot....LOL.

Put a heavier object on there to get past the 10% capacity. Then put the fish on top...subtract the weight and it should be more accurate.

Will....I still have to write that report from Saturday...I can make you look like a fishing god or jerk....hmmm.... Thanks for the kind words. Sydney is still talking about it and showing her trophy to anyone she sees walking by...LOL.
