  1. Nice to see that others appreciate my favourite spot in the universe! Joe certainly knows fish and fishing and is more than willing to share his knowledge! By the way, a friend of mine is selling his trailer @ The Anchorage next door to Jacks Lake Lodge, PM me for details if you're interested.
  2. I have a cottage on Silver Lake, could help out with a boat if you need one. Provincial Park rents out canoes, there is good bass fishing and pike fishing in the weed beds that surround the lake, I haven't fished for lakers, but they're here too!
  3. My MS Internet Explorer keeps crashing about every 5 minutes or so, I downloaded Google Chrome web browser yesterday, it seems to work ok. It's a little different but for basic surfing it works pretty good. Seems to have trouble with interactive mapping stuff, though.
  4. From my trailer in the Kawarthas, I go bass fishing in my canoe. 2 paddles, 1 rod and spinning reel, 1 life jacket, 1 Pop'R lure, no net, no tackle box. I paddle for 10 minutes or so to a good spot, either catch fish or don't, (usually do - caught a 2.5 pound smallie on Friday) I need to add pliers to my list next time, had a time getting the hooks out, fish was ok, though. Anybody else take the bare minimum of stuff with them when they head out fishing??
  5. It's been great playoffs this year and here we are 1st week in June and hockey should be over this week. I remember the finals in the 6 team league being held the same weekend as opening for rainbow (1st wknd in May) Last night's game was great to watch, lots of action, lots of opportunities. Shows how dominating a game doesn't mean much, scoring more goals wins games. I mispent my childhood being a Wings fan, was ready to jump back on the bandwagon, but I'd like to see Pittsburgh win too. I'll wait for game 7 and flip a coin.
  6. If the weather is rotten, I'll stop by the show, I'm starting fly fishing this year, could use a few tips. If the weather is nice, I'll be out somewhere practicing.
  7. The Red Fisher show for the poems!!! (jk) In the winter, I like watching just about anything that shows water with fish in it. I like the scenery, like to check out the boats, (the NWT 18' aluminum open boats with 50 hp tillers are my favourites!) and generally just like to watch, but I don't get into details. My son has a dish, when I'm at his place I like to watch the local Newfoundland shows for some reason!
  8. What do you do now? If you just come home from work and flop on the couch, the extra time spent commuting won't make any difference. If you really want to live in the town you're thinking of moving to, the commute should be no problem. I've been commuting 47 km each way for the last 20 years, I've about had enough, but I can retire next year. I took the job 20 years ago because I thought I would be moving somewhere else, but it didn't happen. I don't mind the drive most of the time, but I waste up to 2 hours a day getting to work and back. Make sure your wife really wants to do the commute too, I know couples who have done similar moves, the wives seem to think it's no problem at first, but a year or 2 later are not very happy about it.
