Is it Illegal to sell fishing from Ontario Lakes
ccmtcanada replied to Anatz's topic in General Discussion
From the regulations....page 8 GENERAL PROHIBITIONS – IT IS ILLEGAL TO: • Fish for or possess the following specially protected fish species; American eel, cutlip minnow and redside dace. • Possess any of the following live invasive species: rudd, ruffe, bighead carp, black carp, grass carp, silver carp, round goby, tubenose goby or any member of the snakehead family. • Sell any angler-caught fish, crayfish, leeches, frogs, fish eggs or spawn, including angler-caught yellow perch taken from the waters of Lake St. Francis. Only holders of commercial fishing and commercial bait licences may sell their catch. • Possess a spring gaff, snagger, or spear gun for the purpose of fishing. No person shall take fish with a gaff or snare. A gaff may be used to assist in landing fish caught by lawful means. • Catch a fish by impaling or snagging it with a hook through any part of the body other than the mouth– any fish hooked in this way must be released immediately. • Take fish by any means other than angling, spear, bow and arrow, net or bait fish trap • Possess a spear for the purpose of fishing on or within 30 m (98 ft.) of the edge of any waters except when fishing in accordance with the regulations (see Non-angling Methods, page 11) € Use artificial lights to attract fish except: € to fish for smelt, or to fish for lake whitefish or lake herring with a dip net € if the light is part of a lure attached to a line used in angling. € It is illegal to transport live fish, other than baitfish, taken from Ontario waters or to transfer or stock any fish into Ontario’s waters without a special licence to transport or stock fish. € Use dynamite or other explosives to take or destroy fish. € Fish within 25 m (81.8 ft.) of a pound net or fish culture cage. € Fish within 22.9 m (75 ft.) downstream from the lower entrance to any fishway or canal, obstacle, or any device designed to assist fish around an obstacle. € Transfer live fish or live spawn from one body of water to another without the authorization of the Ministry of Natural Resources. € Abandon fish or permit the flesh to spoil. -
Advice on protecting fish while taking photo
ccmtcanada replied to jimvanm's topic in General Discussion
Here's an article that is found on the OFAH (Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters) website. http://www.ontarioanglerawards.com/Hold.cfm ================================================================= Angling Reduce the time a fish is played. Use a net or cradle to land the fish. Handling Keep the fish in the water as much as possible and handle the fish gently. Reduce handling that removes the slimy protective coating on fish. Do not squeeze or touch the gills. Grasp the fish just behind the gill covers. For panfish and smaller bass, it is best to grasp the fish by the lower lip. On larger bass, a belly lift is the best lift that can be employed. The belly is literally cradled in the handallowing for support to the fish’s organs and reduces excessive pressure on the head and jaw of the fish. Use long-nose pliers to remove the hook quickly without tearing or injuring the fish. If the fish is hooked deeply, cut the line and leave the hook in when the fish is released. Never put a fish that you may release on a stringer, use a functional livewell or release the fish immediately Remeber that all fish kept (in a livewell, on a stringer, etc.) and not immediately released count towards your daily catch and retain or possession limit. Photographing Be ready ahead of time! Take pictures quickly, minimizing the amount of time the fish is out of the water. Hold the fish in a horizontal position, supporting its weight with your arm and hands. ( See Muskie / Northern Pike Catch and Release Tips ) Do not hold large fish in a vertical position Vertical holds have the potential to cause severe injury to the fishes internal organs. Never hold any fish by its eye sockets Releasing Revive the fish before letting go. Hold the fish upright in a swimming position in the water, moving the fish slowly forward and backward so water runs through the gills. Ensure the fish is breathing and can swim away under its own power before it is released. Consider the water temperatures when release larger fish See Muskie / Northern Pike Catch and Release Tips ) For Pike/Muskie.... http://www.ontarioanglerawards.com/MuskieTips.cfm -

Bobble heads and Pez dispensers are cool.... When are the action figures coming out? I'll wait for the action figure combo...boat, little fishing gear and action figure with movable arms and legs. Push a button on the back and hear the laugh....

You got me thinking about the US/Canada thing...so a quick visit to Honda Canada's website also has a history... http://www.honda.ca/HondaCorp/en/about4_4....p;subNavIndex=4 It says Honda Civic introduced in Canada in 1973.
-
Check out Honda America's Website, and choose the historical timeline. It says 1972 - Honda Civic debuts.... http://corporate.honda.com/america/timeline.aspx

Hey TJSA....I'm sure that would have worked too!! Problem is that I don't drink...and somehow, I don't think 3 cokes would have taken the edge off....LOL.

I used to cross the border almost every weekend and rarely got searched. One time, on the way back to Canada, the Customs agent I was talking to had a sense of humour. She said "Ding ding ding, you are a winner today!". I said "What do I win". She said "A free inpsection". She then went on to explain that on that particular day, every 100th vehicle to pass through had to submit to a thorough search.

The smile on her face says it all! I love reports like this! Actually, the smiles on everyones face is pretty infectious.

Big Cliff and I replaced the impeller on my 18hp 1983 Merc. If you have the owner's manual, it gives detailed instructions on how to change that impeller (with pictures...I need pictures....LOL). It took us a little time to figure everything out, but the next time it needs done, it'll take less than an hour. (and that's taking our time).

Glad to hear it went well! I just hope when you wake up that you still have some painkillers running through your system! When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I fell asleep when I got home and didn't pop my painkillers. When the freezing wore off I ran to get my tylenol 3s....and then paced back and forth for 10 minutes until they kicked in...LOL. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!!

Camp? Isn't that a tent thing? LOL. Great report....and it's awesome that your buds who are scattered all around the country can all come together to share great times like that.

Awesome report Sunfish! It's great to see you out there with your kids....seeing them smile at every fish, no matter how big makes it all worth it. When my little is fishing and catching, I don't even care if my line is even in the water! Great pics and report....can't wait to read the next one.

Wow!! When we gave you all that advice, we never thought it would produce anything....LOL. What a great catch! It really is amazing about all the urban fishing opportunities there are...just have to ask a few questions and then get out there and try. And you are a fishing hero to the kids too...well done!!

Apparently you scared the whole organization. I went to the website and there are no events listed....LOL.

Have a great time Bill!!! Be sure to take lots of pics and post a nice long report when you get back. Take notes after every day so you don't forget anything..... Good luck and safe travels!
