You had quite the week! Congrats to you and your son for having such a great time out there!! Great job on the upgrades for the team as well....will be updating the standings later today!
-
What a cute daughter you have there! That's quite the smallie too! Congrats to the two of you...you weren't really fishing...you were working on "memories in the making".
-
Great report yet again Johnny! Sounds like a great day on the water for sure!

It took me about 15 minutes on the phone to Services Canada to find out what I needed. I ended up bringing the old boat registration info, a copy of the sales receipt from the boat and motor and I left there with a new registration in my name. My understanding is that if the boat was given to you, or there is no receipt that you need some kind of notarized document saying that it's yours. Total time in Services Canada office was 10 minutes...mind you, I got there right when they opened up for the day.

I'm more looking at the lures that Lew has on display and saving the picture....LOL. Great ideas here!

Great to see all those fish coming out on Ahmic!! You wouldn't happen to be around up there betwen August 14 and 18th would you?? LOL. Great pics and videos...those sunset/sunrises are amazing...nothing like seeing those in that setting. Thanks for the tips on the area up there...hope to have some fish to show for it next month!! Have a blast at Nipissing too. -

$430 fine while fishing on Scugog this weekend
ccmtcanada replied to Want's topic in General Discussion
When I was checked on Scugog a few weeks ago, they were quite nice. Talked to my little one for a few minutes before they took off. They thanked us for having everything required and to have a safe day. -
Hey Pete... We had the exact same thing happen here to our Motorguide. It would turn from side to side but no matter what we did the prop wouldn't turn. Bly took the head unit apart and found the "green" wire was loose. She cleaned all the connections and simply plugged that green wire back and all was fine. Other than things like weeds, fishing line or anything else that could be jamming the prop, try the green wire trick. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! She hasn't stopped smiling and kisses that trophy when she sees it. She just came downstairs and she wants to keep it in her bed for tonight...LOL. Terry - leave my ice fishing alone. That first fish was huge...that's the way I remember it and that's the way I tell the story.... Bri - She already outfishes me....now she has the trophy to rub it in my face....hehe. Glen - Yep...you said it....she cant stop smiling about the day. She told me just before she found out she won that she's had the bestest bestest day ever. And I've accepted the fact that I suck at fishing....LOL. Jedi - I agree...we stressed that hard work won't always mean that you win, but if don't work hard you probably wont win. I think she's starting to understand that now. She knows that we were proud of her...even before we found out the final result.

Hey Cliff! Looks like you had a great week! We're hoping to get back up to Sturgeon in the next few weeks to fish, so we'll give you a shout and see if you are in that day. That muskie is a story no one will ever forget...yet another great memory made right from your dock. We are looking forward to the weekend in August...Sydney is pretty excited to be able to spend the night there!

Way back in the early spring, Hearingfish (Stan) invited my daughter to compete in a kids fishing derby. Well, today was finally the day. It was held at a fishing club with private ponds stocked with perch, sunfish and rainbow trout. The tournament had 3 main prizes....one for biggest perch, biggest sunfish and most fish for a family. Anyhow, we met up with Stan in the parking lot around 9am, and proceeded to the registration. After paying the fees, they directed our little one out to an area where they had gifts for all the kids who participated. By about 945, we found our spot on the pond and literally, within seconds, she has her first fish of the day landed. A tiny perch. Here I am helping her remove the hook. She continued to land perch after perch, with the odd sunfish mixed in. All these fish counted torwards the results. A fair sized one was put in to be measured and we kept on going. She worked hard for all her fish too....she was out there for 2 hours straight...trying different locations around the dock. Bly was out there throwing spinners trying to entice a stocked rainbow to hit, and it wasn't long before she caught a nice one that is now getting ready to be our dinner. Bly and I took turns trying for rainbows while the other helped unhook our little ones fish. Finally...just before we were to break for lunch, I got a feisty trout! Our daughter had a great time and met up with a new friend....Hearingfish's daughter. They were inseparable all day long. Hearingfish, not to be oudone, lands a trout after the tourny was over. Then, for the exciting part of the day. We found out that Sydney had won the biggest perch prize for the day! She was sooooo excited...she's always wanted a trophy and now she has one. Check out her prize....a 7 foot flyrod with reel, fishing vest (woo hoo...since it's too big I suppose I'll use it....LOL), a tackle box filled with tackle and of course, what she really wanted....a trophy!! Thank so much Stan...we all had a GREAT day out there today. It was great seeing you again and a real pleasure to meet your family and spend the day out there with you all.

How much do you rent that washer for? My boat could use a good cleaning too...LOL. Very cute daughter jwl!! My little one is 6 and she makes more of a mess than actual cleaning...guess I got the defective model???

It made it's way through the Trent system last year....some are thinking that it's just progressing further up as the spread was interrupted by winter. From what I understand, there is a small natural kill of species every year...until LARGE numbers start showing up, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.
-
WOW!!! Tell her congrats for me ok? What a fantastic day on the water Keram...you must be one proud Dad right now! Hopefully she'll spend more days with you on the water...you know once she's grown, she wont forget those special times you two shared together. Great job!

This may not help, but I noticed this with my merc. When I filled a garbage can, I needed to go well PAST where the bolts are when you remove the lower unit. If the water level in the can didn't go past this point, the water wouldn't circulate.

I don't know what you are talking about. Every fish I have caught has bitten my lure....

Advice on protecting fish while taking photo
ccmtcanada replied to jimvanm's topic in General Discussion
Here's an article that is found on the OFAH (Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters) website. http://www.ontarioanglerawards.com/Hold.cfm ================================================================= Angling Reduce the time a fish is played. Use a net or cradle to land the fish. Handling Keep the fish in the water as much as possible and handle the fish gently. Reduce handling that removes the slimy protective coating on fish. Do not squeeze or touch the gills. Grasp the fish just behind the gill covers. For panfish and smaller bass, it is best to grasp the fish by the lower lip. On larger bass, a belly lift is the best lift that can be employed. The belly is literally cradled in the handallowing for support to the fish’s organs and reduces excessive pressure on the head and jaw of the fish. Use long-nose pliers to remove the hook quickly without tearing or injuring the fish. If the fish is hooked deeply, cut the line and leave the hook in when the fish is released. Never put a fish that you may release on a stringer, use a functional livewell or release the fish immediately Remeber that all fish kept (in a livewell, on a stringer, etc.) and not immediately released count towards your daily catch and retain or possession limit. Photographing Be ready ahead of time! Take pictures quickly, minimizing the amount of time the fish is out of the water. Hold the fish in a horizontal position, supporting its weight with your arm and hands. ( See Muskie / Northern Pike Catch and Release Tips ) Do not hold large fish in a vertical position Vertical holds have the potential to cause severe injury to the fishes internal organs. Never hold any fish by its eye sockets Releasing Revive the fish before letting go. Hold the fish upright in a swimming position in the water, moving the fish slowly forward and backward so water runs through the gills. Ensure the fish is breathing and can swim away under its own power before it is released. Consider the water temperatures when release larger fish See Muskie / Northern Pike Catch and Release Tips ) For Pike/Muskie.... http://www.ontarioanglerawards.com/MuskieTips.cfm -
Loved the report! You are right...she's nice to look at. Wait...were there fish in this report? I'll have to back and read it again.
