  1. What ever we get handed this year.. I'll take! No planning = no disappointments, but I sure hope to put a hurting on the back lakes of Temagami.
  2. Hey... I thought you were coming by for a beer in July! lol
  3. Hole will still be there tomorrow Jacque.... grab a big magnet and get the important part back, but take another auger to make the outing worth while!
  4. Way to fill the day Ernie!! Can't beat that.. .well other than the hoists goin cha ching maybe!
  5. Buy the good auto recoil ones... no flapping straps to worry about!
  6. Now come'on G.. tell us the real reason you aren't fishing... and can you show us a picture of HER as well !! Thanks! ;O)
  7. Happy Birthday Spawn of Ed !!
  8. Nice hoping I can swing a trip for a few of those next week!
  9. You red headed freak you..... I can see lurkers following you with binoculars!
  10. Lake Temagami has both white flesh and orange/pink flesh Lakers. Some seem to like eating fish and others crustaceans. Kokoko's are generally white. Here's one from my favourite back lake.. never stocked that I can find and all the fish that we've managed to pull up (100+ one day, Lloyd and I) are all about 20" long and this colour. We've been told my a biologist that the fish are smart enough to eat to the food level of the lake.
  11. If they're both eating the same forage basically.. no reason they won't taste very similar. On Temagami we bring all species out of the same hole in 78FOW!
  12. Yep.. I deep fry the little guys we get downrigging, that hit the boat DOA after ripping up from 100FOW, and they taste no different than an 'eye. Also good on the BBQ.. cook flesh side first, then flip and burn the skin side 'till it chars and they taste like BBQ chicken.. either that or it's just that " burned taste" I give everything on the grill. I did the first laker I got in the oven as suggested by many... wasn't fit for a dog. The big guy that this thread is all about... probably long out of the breeding cycle and just out there cruising around eating anything that got in front of it's mouth (including that little laker Terry was reeling up last winter! LOL). Most just snap people off.. so the odd one hitting the wall that size doesn't get me the least bit excited from one of the largest inland fresh water lakes in Canada.
  13. Like I said... they ask if you have any fish first... let you say no and if you shift your eyes the wrong way out comes the dog from his snazy cutter. DId they have the pretty handler with the dog?? Almost worth hiding a fish...
  14. NOW NOW Brian... you know it's an age thing! They always ask the same questions, it's just now that you're old you don't care.. .when you were 21 you were paranoid that they were after you! lol
  15. I have many of their cell phone numbers Brian.. they even answer at home when off duty. Sure skips the 1-800-tips crap. Call direct and get it done. They all carry business cards BTW.. just ask for one when they are searching through your stuff !!
  16. Best part is emptying those Old Special bottles so you have something for the syrup !!
  17. Stop and talk to them some time... you may just find out the current hot spot from them! Nothing to hide.. nothing to lose.. we even share our water and pop with them on Temagami to keep a good rapport going. Then a few days later, when they go by again and see the same collection of portables they just wave and motor on by.. unless of course they want to see the next monster we've caught. Year after year they stop to ask what we have saved on our cameras.
  18. Needs to gain about 6" to beat Lloyd's 2010 fish... but another wonderful Lake T tanker ! Sad it looks a little stiff though...
  19. You won't meet a nicer guy than Rick... unless of course he finds you with a bag of herring ! lol
  20. This one of them Nick.. they drop by here from time to time just to keep me on my toes!
  21. Half the people in my contacts seem to have this virus sending emails off their addresses. There'll be a whole slew of contacts in alphabetic order in the CC and it will be a link to something with no other text. Don't click it... or you're next!
  22. COOL.. Dual.. dual air horns!! LOL Have fun Peter!!!
  23. Yes the CO's where given the power to lay liquor offences charges a few years back. We never have booze on the ice.. but asked them outright last year what their thoughts were... and the CO and OPP both told us they considered a beer in a hut no different than a beer in a tent on the crown shore in the summer (and they can't lay a charge for that). Of course getting silly... and then driving your sled would have the same consequences as driving your boat!
