Lady Grand breached her banks here in town (Grand Valley) today. I suspect they'll be closing 25 shortly as there's already water over the road and it's just rising. Hopefully Belwood / Shand Dam can handle all the water to avoid flooding down below

that is insane on the topic of gbox and other streaming devices: if you're a hockey nut make sure the gbox has nhl gamecenter support. Downstairs, we stream gamecenter/netflix to my PS3 and also have a gbox-like android based box that I stream the 'other' content discussed here. Upstairs I have a 2nd box (Western Digital Live) that we stream netflix to. if you break it down monthly my bill is $20 / month for netflix/nhl gamecenter/local blackout unblocker/netflix region picker .. plus the internet (teksavvy ~$45 / month for 25/2 300GB) I'm assuming you're already paying for internet so that's no or minimal additional cost (if you need to upgrade it). I do have an antenna mounted on my roof pointed at the CN tower for the local channels (I'm in Grand Valley)-- which other than the cost of the antenna, is now free. if my math is right that's $240 - 10% of your yearly $2400. our viewing habits may differ so this may not work for you. -

5mpbs may or may not be enugh for hd. it is enough for netflix but may not be for nhl gamecenter as they stream at a higher bitrate. if the tv is the only thing using the internet in your house while watching then maybe but you'd want at least 10 as mentioned for HD. 5 should be more than enough for sd. we have 25 mbps down here and can watch netflix on two tvs in hd + surf web / play ps3 at the same time without issue. the lack decent high speed internet in rural areas in canada is really a pet peeve of mine. it's not like you're 200 miles from civilization either. -

you're in orangeville right? get an HD antenna and point it at the cn tower, there's your CBC HNIC broadcasts along with anything else the Toronto stations broadcast. If you want all NHL games, you will need NHL Gamecenter subscription, you will also need a service ($1.99 / month to get around the local blackouts). Mine is $99 / season that's still cheaper than basic cable when you break it down by month. Walking Dead is on netflix, The other shows are available via XBMC plugins. You won't get the shows the day they are aired but if you're ok with a day (or a few hours) later, then no issue. even basic cable was like $70+ / month with box rental for us, that's $840 a year! By comparison, my expenses for TV are $99 / year for game center + 8.99 / month (netflix) + 1.99 / month blackout service. -

The quality of the sterams will be fine depending on the plan you have with bell (I was on Bell wireless 25down/1up as well before moving to a place with cable internet and could stream video no problem). The issue is the low monthly bandwidth caps you have . Video, especially HD, eats up a lot of data. -

definately not an option if you are rural and have no access to cable / dsl. if you do have either however, there are plenty of package especially from third party resellers that have large enough bandwidth limits. -

i use a pivos xios with a linux build of xbmc. couple of video plugins. all free 'cept the box. more shows and movies than needed i do pay for nhl gamecenter for all live hockey games from every team in hd and netflix for movies. we could propably drop the netflix no cable/satellite and not missed but other than hockey i am not a live sports junkie -
both idiots.. the guy in the truck obviously the driver taking the video: i) operating a cell phone while driving ii) driving in the left lane and not passing

x2. caravans are renowned for glass trannys.
-
damned if you do damned if you dont i suppose we got exactly what was forecast here in dufferin county
-
i'd agree with lookingforwalleye, if a 21' glass boat is in your future i'd be looking at a truck or at least a suv on a truck body. think expedition, tahoe
-
my last two suvs were/are jeeps -- bought them for well under 15k (a regular cherokee that i think i payed about 5500 and a grand cherokee for a little more) each has lasted 5 years with minimal issues outside of maintenance/tires. in fact, i regret selling the reg cherokee, eventhough it had accumulated 400k kms. bulletproof drivetrain. not sure what i am going to go with next, but another jeep is definately on the radar - commander, newer grand or perhaps a liberty.
-
lack of benefits for P/T is the main one i think
-
get a jeep. rav4s are fantastic vehicles, my mom drove one for years till it was totalled when she was rear ended. very reliable vehicle and she loved it. she replaced it with a 2013 forrester.

it's about time you south of 9ers felt this winter LOL that's been pretty much par for the course since late december for us.
-
are they pushing maclean out or is it his decision? regardless, you need a hockey person in this role.
-
the flashing amber lights of 4 ways penetrate fog, whiteout conditions much better than 'white' light does... hence, traditional fog lights being yellow. so i am a little torn on the 4 ways on when driving or not issue. i know there have been instances this winter in pure whiteout conditions that i've flipped them on while moving at 10 km / hr due to reduced (no) visibility.

the veracruz is not even an SUV, it's a crossover vehicle. true SUVs like the 4runners, grand cherokees, tahoes, etc are a completely different ball game then these crossover vehicles when it comes to towing.
-
that's a really neat pic davey.
-
my v8 grand cherokee gets about 10-11l/100 on the hwy and about 12-13l /100 towing on the hwy -- both summer figures. i am only towing ~ 1000lbs though. i do keep it at or below 110km/hr when not towing and 100 or less when towing. i dont really want to discuss city figures. fortunately most of it's driving is done on 80km/hr+ roads without lights and traffic.
-
hwy 9 closed west of orangeville again.. christ!! i've ran out of fingers and toes to count the closures on this stretch this winter. back roads to get home once again.

i'm going to guess that rig is closer to 2500 lbs than 1700. esp with fuel and gear on it. a 17' lund side console, 90 4 stroke, and trailer weighs in at about 2500lbs. i did tow said lund with a 6 cyl 4.0L Jeep Cherokee but it did leave me wanting a little more power especially in hilly areas. The 6 cyl Grand Cherokee is heavier than a reg Cherokee by quite a bit too.
