  3. i think bringing his friends along would help. but honestly, don't force it. if he's not into it, he's not into it. if you force something on him, he will just resent it. my dad started me younger, 8 or 9. 13 is a tough age, i know myself i was becoming mroe interested in girls, music etc. at the time hanging out with dad just didn't seem "cool" at the time.
  4. tackle - not so much, as i've got too much already the biggest expense is gas & beer

  9. with these big lures, it's not uncommon. - make sure the hook hangers are aligned. - don't bend the lip, bend the eye that you clip your snap/split ring to. if it's blowing out to one side, bend the eye to the other. a little does a lot. it's a bit of an art but you'll get the hang of it. i think a lot of guys ditch their brand new baits on ebay because they can't get em to run right.. works for me!
  10. another vote for garmin. mine is an older etrex legend. i load it with topos but it will handle hydro maps too.l
  11. maybe someone else can help ya Rich but, tie on a lure bigger than those 8" bass and see what happens. I don't suspect htere are many muskies up there but you never know, if there are any pike you'll probably catch them.
  12. spot on forrest. here is happy angler and unhappy fish
  13. the fish came in very green brian and didn't want to settle down in the net. she was netted, photoed & freed in 3 to 4 minutes and swam away with no revival (having cold water helps) - you can see she righted herself in the net. no way you can completely avoid stress but when you have a 30lb fish thrashing with 9/O hooks, i'd hate to see what would happen if we didn't have a big pen net or cutters aboard.
  14. nice fish lewSKI :
  15. what happened to: "leave your smiles on shore"?
  16. what bass killer said. as logn as there is no lightning, play ball.
  17. It'll be just fine for those baits and anything you can buy. Don't kid yourself though, with a 7000, it is a heavy combo but the length eases casting and figure 8 fatigue and lets you uhh dogslap these lures around. Can't help you with the fig rig. I am trying the 8'6" xh okuma 4-14oz this year for big baits.
  18. "I am the Liquor" - Lahey
  19. That works well Paul.. You don't have to be accurate, just be able to repeat. I measure the distance from the reel to the 1st guide and count "pulls".. same idear. 18" from 1st guide to reel * 20 pulls = 30' of line out.
  20. I'm planning my trip around the next ice fog/diamond dust forecast.

    Lake Muskoka

Nice effect. HDR I am assuming? How many different exposures levels were used?
  23. hahah I was thinking that.. never cancel a trip due to rain a) the weatherman's wrong, OFTEN you wont catch a thing on the couch honestly, i'll take rain over wind. high winds make boat control difficult and can make for a frustrating day.
  24. Hahah, I personally think this is a great thread and only good things can come of this. Welcome aboard Becky.
