  1. haha who knows. we cover pretty much the entire eastern shore now! good luck to you as well!
  2. gbay muskie opener.
  3. yeah, it's going to be one long week. not sure i'll be able to sleep friday might have to start at midnite.
  4. what do you mean by muskie bucktail? the lure on your left (mepps muskie marabou) you can throw with a 200 curado. the lure on your right will make a c4 tremble.

^^^^^ I did not pay him to say that reefrunner, we switch out trebles for singles on all our lures for spring trout. be they body baits, spoons, spinners etc. we don't bring most into the boat, just unbutton them boatside like the 2nd last pic. if we photoed every single fish, there'd be way too many pics in this thread. trebles and trout are like velcro and they end up getting them in the eyes, gills... not so good if you are planning on releasing them. my opinion, the lures have more action with singles too. other than swapping the hooks, no further modifications.
  6. Yep.. may be down there setting up a stage this eve.. then I'm outta dodge!
  7. it is a pretty good job on the photoshop, though..
  8. nice job! good looking fish. i see riggers, all deep?
  9. congrats on the fish.. ed's a good guy. too bad about the pic.. i've never had it happen to me but have heard of cases where it has happened. are you positively sure it's gone? where aer you located.. i am the master of recovery. if you can wait and want to see if it's still there somehow, don't take any more pics on that card. if you know how to make an "image" of a drive, make an image of the card. you could then send me this image file and I could see what i can do. be forewarned though, i will see all the pics on that card and likely use them in photoshop experiments to post on OFC.
  10. I think that was key for me, getting familiar with how the line behaves more so than feeling for a hit. Doesn't matter if I am jiggin through the ice for lakers, usng weightless plastics, jigs etc for bass. you will know you have a fish before you feel it. especially on those days when they're a bit lazy
  11. read your manual, don't tow in overdrive. heat of the engine is not the concern here, heat in the transmission is.
  12. wait a sec.. just to be sure we are talking apples to apples. you are looking at the blue (sometimes camo) unit and not the yellow, correct? the yellow, while a capable unit that allows you to drop waypoints, leave a trail etc, does NOT have mapping ability.
  13. absolutely good enough. i also load the topo canada maps on mine.. no depth, but you (obviously) have land features/countours.
  14. darn. does she have a sis? congrats Tony!!
  15. photoz fave carp hole (can you see the rabbit?) my fave spot
  16. that certainly does look nasty ehg. often times, it's the little guys that get you. they seem to have "the rage". or maybe you get a little complacant or a bit of both. real important to have a good set of cutters on board (ie. knipex) when one hook is attached to you and the other to a POed fish. i was just going to pop the hook out and water release, fish had other ideas and the trailer got me. muskybill cut it in half and i pushed the rest through, operation took seconds and bill, always on the lookout for gore, was ready for the photo-op: they say once an animal tastes human bloody they want more.. there's a killer growing in a lake in ontario.
  17. <-- french river muskie topo maps are indeed available, it's the hydrographic maps that don't exist for that area. topo = land hydro = water minor pet peeve of mine.
  18. ohh no, not again..
  19. Slide your fingers beneath the inside edge of the musky’s gill flap, being careful not to put your fingers between the red gill rakers - there will be almost a natural pocket there for your fingers. Then firmly press your thumb in the fleshy part just below the musky’s lower jaw. Believe it or not, this will give you good control of the fish should they do this: While that fish wasn't all that big, it went monkey-poop on me. Relax your arm, hold on tight with your grip and let her fizzle out. On smaller fish, depending on the size of your hands, you can just grab them from over top, holding their gills closed.
  20. muskie fishing. unfortunately bass opener is after muskie season starts and i just don't get a chance to fish for them.
  21. depends.. how comfortable they are, how rough it is.. over the transom, in the livewell or the infamous white bucket.

thank boys. i've been fighting a cold for the better part of a week now. my muskie opener is on hold. the action tends to improve as the season wears on anyhow (in my experience). the trout fishn is a great way to kick off the season.
  24. this one's for you BC. there are many great moments in nature! but, it's tough trying to be a photographer and fish at the same time. you have to pick one. lol.
