  1. remember this? really wasn't that long ago. thought i'd throw that in for our first heat wave. spring has been a pretty soggy one here. other than the wknd we broke ice, it's been cold and wet. we've fished trout and a bit of walleye and pike with some success.. no luck on huge pike this year. so hear are some troot. this wknd is the muskie opener and so, season II begins. day one, 10 mins into openwater season. 10 mins later - peel back the layers its sunburn time.
  2. i'm placing my order for the pinnacle matrix right now.
  3. a wedding.. hope it was fun and they live happily ever after :blahblah1: that's the best store report i've read in a long time.
  4. cold spring... too hot too fast.. gives us an excuse when we're not catching fish.
  5. so how do you feel about fishing? if you now find yourself thinking about the next fishn trip with your buddies, like the others have said, skip ct or walmart and for a few more dollars you can get something a little better. my opinion, you'll be glad in the long run because you will upgrade if you go with the ugly stik. go to a tackle store and hold them, you'll see a difference immediately. on the other hand, the ugly stik will work and if you just need something to have and beat around, it'll take it. for a cheap price. i could never bring myself to suggesting anyone buying one though.
  6. jf, water injection is not a new tech. it's commonly used on forced induction (turbo/super charged) engines to help cool the intake charge down (compressing air generates a lot of heat).. which in turns allows you to run more "boost" (hence, more power) before pre-ignition (knock). water does not compress very well, so the amounts of h2o that make it into the combustion chamber are minute (other wise there'd be lots of bent rods). the technology jb is talking about here is a different animal altogether. from what i understand they extract the hydrogen from the water and combine it with gasoline. so.. does a car run on hydrogen without serious modification? or a 50/50 mix? i think the truth is likely closer to 5/95. but i am just speculating.
  7. thanks HD, i'm getting better. hope to spend sime time with the girls (stellas), maybe a little 'gardening' and some queens for sure. those moose steaks sounds mighty good though!! come on by haha
  8. I FAIL TO SEE HOW SPLITTING FISHING AND NON-FISHING IN ANYWAY DEGRADES THE "COMMUNITY" ASPECT OF THE SITE. SO, I FAIL TO SEE ANYTHING RELEVANT IN JEN'S ARGUEMENT. FYI, I HAVE BEEN HERE FOR TOO LONG AS WELL.
  9. H to the D. the word is I'm illn' (not in good way either) yah i realize you're talking to the billy.
  10. if i'm not mistaken, the rocky is in the upper stretches. i personally have only fished the 'geen closer to l. huron (walkerton -> l. huron), so i don't have any specific info for you. just grab a canoe and go.. at worst you spend a day floatin' on the river (bring the banjo )
  11. there be muskie in them waters too. nice river to fish. best bet is to have two cars, put in with a canoe up river then float down to car #2. upper reaches hold res. trout.
  12. makes me homesick and im not even a nfndldr nice pics Sinker.
  13. is cornia the stuff that comes out after eating ... ah never mind it doesn't wear glasses corneas are saluting him as well!
  14. i guess you could do all that... split ring pliers and the treble is free within seconds. i still don't see the hooopla.
  15. what do they put in that st. claire water. it's a unique fishery for sure, employing tactics, baits that don't see much use/success elsewhere.
  16. Raf

    BAM

shoulda stuck that thing under a float and gone after mr. pike. nice fish.
  17. you can switch to a single siwash.. otherwise, no shortcuts that i know of - you have to take the treble off. it's not that much work! lol
  18. i think you have your answer.
  19. Are you using braid/wire or mono?
  20. it's a nice area but i'd leave the rods behind. bring your gf, a camera, picnic and a box of "good years". ooops.. inner voice coming out.
  21. glennK, white buckets have more uses than just the for "the brigade". tie one (or two) on to the rear cleats throw 'em overboard and they'll slow your troll down. we use them on a 90 4-stroke to get us down in speed. you can see one floating in this pic
  22. I give each of my homemade jobs the 'nail pull' test. after a while you get a feel for how much pressure on the crimps is 'just right'. like the name suggests, the test consists of looping one end of the leader over a nail in the wall, the other end you grab with a pair of pliers and pull 'till you're satisfied. if a fish is stronger than that, i want no business meeting it (and the drag will slip long before)
  23. they will help a little bit. 10% may be pushing it. i've run K&N filters or other like it, in most of my vehicles. they are good for life, so if you think about it, you are saving money in the long run by not having to replace the disposable ones.
  24. ahh.. the incredible crotchless rainsuits.. i'll give ya two hours before they look like this... you can try buying a few sizes too big that hsould help. i think i went through 4-5 of sets before i dished out the coin on proper bibs. the jackets will hold up though!
