  1. 80-100 lb braid & 30lb single strand wire (AKA shoal crasher) on muskie setups 50 lb braid on pike/bass baitcasters, 30lb on spinning walleye/trout rods get 6-8 lb mono dipsy/planer boards get 14lb mono ice fishn, 4-8 lb mono leaders; generally fluoro from 8-130lbs, I use wire as well.
  2. just remember, if you plan on crossing the border into the US by land or sea, proof of citizenship is now required (as of Jan 31 - unless you have a valid passport). in order to get a passport (ie. to fly to the US) you will need your proof of citizenship as well. ohh, and what fishnautographs said also applies to your citizenship card.
  3. proof of citizenship: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp beware, this process takes MONTHS!! (I applied for my replacement card in October '07 and still waiting). you will also require your Driver's Lic & Health Card first.
  4. oops, i meant forrester and outback. legacy is their big sedan. i'm just not sure how much the 2.5 4 cyls can tow. i know a few people who've owned them, mostly impresas and the legacy - they've have have had zero complaints other than the guys who've blow their impresa 6 spds racing . reliability is great and resale value is probably close to toyota's. i can empathize with your feelings about 4/awd. last 5 vehicles.. ever since i bought my 1st one. even a turbo talon (sports car) was great in poor weather/roads.
  5. i'd have a serious look at the the subaru line. i think the impreza may be a bit small for your needs but the legacy should be a fit. 30mpg may be a stretch - awd, decent size, unfortunately you have to pay to play. the legacy has awd, comes in a wagon and can tow a small boat/trailer.
  6. while i am not familiar with many of the products, i am sure they are quality. spend the dollars and the manufacturer's label likely doesn't mean so much and it comes down to application and personal preference. having said that, there are only two reels available in lefty on that list and in-fisherman has been pushing berkley for as long as i can remember remember al pulling down the tree with xt?
  7. nice pics!! can't wait to get back up there a coupla years ago that hwy 64 sign was missing at the turn/restaurant in noelville. at least there was no confusion about which was is north
  8. I am probably in the minority but... I prefer the CFL game.

    quack quack

thanks Deano. there was a layer of very thin ice (pic taken right out ice-out) - also a chunk to the left of the duck. that didn't come through in the picture very well. it's next to impossible to fish AND pretend to be a photographer at the same time
  10. i'll echo what the others have said, pretty fish Erik. further to what you said, with all the urban sprawl, it's really important that these habitat(s) & stream(s) be protected. too many get damned up or dissapear altogether.
  11. lol.. you could have gone to casa loma instead the half-a-peace sign was really uncalled for coming from a guy sitting in the comfort of a full windshield and top! lol (attaboy Joe)
  12. well, crow is tasting good. nice to hear they are taking care of you though! my 0.02c, not sure what kind of a setup you are running but i wouldn't go lower than 30lb for a baitcaster.
  13. nice shots.. good on ya for toughing it out in the tinny.
  14. yes, i am aware of that gerritt. it's two years old though! it is real simple to lay blame on faulty line.
  15. i think you guys are jumping to conclusions without knowing what happened re: stoty. how exactly did the line break on the casts? a backlash?
  16. i'd recommend learning the uni knot and it's variations (ie uni to uni for joining lines) the noise is fine.
  17. great.. try posting those on ontariolandmarks.com , might generate more interest there. instead of throwing a pity party for people who actually go out and fish on a fishing site.
  18. we did ok, how many didya catch surfing the couch, Paul?
  19. furthermore, this thread further illustrates why 10% of the anglers catch 90% of the fish.
  20. attaboy lew. the rest of you, suck it up you sissies.
  21. the st. croix premiere glass trolling rod is one of the best - it will troll everything from large to small. if you are on a budget, an 8'6" dipsy rod that the salmon guys use will work well too on all but the biggest bait.
  22. Nicely done Ric.. I wouldn't pay too much attn to what Dan said, he'd rather fish for bait.
