  1. most of the time if trolling at speeds above 4 mph we've got less than 25' of line out. spinnerbaits - even less. i use a 5 oz model to stay down, you can also clip on a 1-2oz weight to keep the small ones down. body baits are no problem. if they blow out, you need to adjust them so they run true or put 'em on ebay for me because they 'don't run right'. rod holders are a must. in the fall we'll typically slow down to at or below 4 mph. a lead of 75' is on the long side, typically we're running 50'. obviously depends on the bait, whether we're using wire or braid and how deep we want to put it.
  2. very nice.. moose tenderloin, beer for breakfast, just doesn't get any better.
  3. fairly certain you can just not click the post. there's also the handy-dandy ignore list feature!
  4. muskie rods generally all come in fast or xtra fast taper. a few in fast-med (ie. crankbait rods). st. croix's premiere line is where i choose to spend my $$$. rod length is more a guide for the types of baits you'll be tossing. ie. short(er) rods for jerkbaits, longer for inline blades/topwaters.
  5. invest in me. i'll do nothing.. like my funds!
  6. loooks exciting. i am sure it will work. the name has me chuckling. on a few levels. does it transform? not sure the cost of other comparable bass sized buzz baits to say whether or not you been cavitronned.
  7. now i know how the ex found out about the subscribtion to boobs'n'tubes.
  8. John, I own a Panasonic and if I had to do it again, I'd get either another Panasonic or a Canon.
  9. people still have land lines? maybe it's luck or my time will come but no telemarketing calls on the cell phone. other than telus' offerings in text msg format.
  10. not if you sent it via PM
  11. Nice combo but you're well over $300. If it's going to be strictly a buck/boo/inline rod definately go 7'6 or 8'.
  12. i can confidently say that i fish muskie more than 96% people on here and chuck/troll lures bigger than many fish people catch. I think I have a pretty good idea of what can and cannot stand up to the abuse. my reels are 6501 c3s, 7001 c3s, quantum cabo cbc 31pts's for casting and an okuma convector 30dlx linecounter for trolling. like bigbucks says 6500 c3s are like a jeep vs murano. function over form. mine have lasted years. curado 301 seems like a nice reel, maybe I'll try it out next. the 201 is a bass reel. calcutta is nice but too rich for my blood (and no lefty in the 400 size unless you step up to the TE). low-profile vs round, more than ergonmoics. typically tougher components, stronger drags, and larger line capacity. as for rods, my preference lies with st. croix premiere line. avid would be nice but they don't make 'em muskie size anymore. you now have to step up to their legend line... no thanks for the $$$. unless you're vertically challenged, do yourself a favour and get something in the 7'6"+ range. ohh yeah and read this post: http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...c=18044&hl=
  13. In main lake areas. Deep weedlines, shoals.. near deep water, rocks and weeds. If there is a population of walleye, cisco, lake trout in the lake.. I'd be fishing near them. Trolling is an effective way to get them, don't be afraid to smash bottom with big lures.
  14. Same here.. I think TJ did a spamming campaign. I kid!!
  15. you can smoke crayfish?
  16. hopefully, your friend knows where all the rocks are.
  17. Tom if they look like this than yes.. I can't see your pic. They are usually at least $60.
  18. Stay-Lok snaps made by Stringease. Come in all sort of sizes. I generally use these unless I need something really small.
  19. what kind of pike are you catching? 24" hammer handle is a different animal from a 36"+ fish. A 7' MH should do ya just fine. Like Corey said the, the extra length on the 7'6" is nice provided you have a way of transporting it (unless you go 2pc).
  20. That is a steal and these cutters will last you a long time. As SlowPoke mentioend you can get decent ones at princess auto or crappy tire but eventually they will give up the ghost. I had a tough time cutting through 7/0 trebles with the mini cutters from CT.
  21. yah.. it's an alright report.. i guess. :D
  22. it crosses the little french. the little french and everything below five fingers rapids (where the little french dumps into the main river) would be affected
  23. No, the competition; Mitsubishi (2x Turbo AWD Eclipse/Talon, 1x Turbo AWD Galant - grocery getter from hell). None of them stayed in stock form very long. I heart turbos. Regarding hubcentric and all that, if you don't buy hubcentric wheels, there are adapter plates/rings that will properly align these multi-fit wheels for you. Any half-decent shop should be aware of these and tell you whether or not you need them. There's a huge aftermarket wheel market afterall..
  24. "couple of hours" of the GTA puts you on the Kawarthas or Georgian Bay. Decide whether you want to catch fish or try to catch one big one. Davis Battah runs a good service in the Kawarthas and Mr. Follow, a member here is involved with Graham B. who guides on the bay. While I've never taken a charter, theirs or otherwise, both of these guys run reputable gigs. I am sure you'll get other suggestions as well.
