  1. I would try smaller spinners of various colours and even smaller twister tails. Look for them out over open water and suspended eating bugs. I had luck for rainbows using these techniques on a couple of lakes. Try trolling with the spinners.
  2. Use the post, they are rotating strike action and it looks like the larger centres are the ones striking, everything else is as normal.
  3. Back on the water. I can't believe people. That's so sad, no wonder there is a problem with fish numbers. This stuff drives me crazy, but I'm glad at least someone had to pay some fines.
  4. We were also very fortunate. We had trees landing five feet from the house and other trees holding up broken ones. The pool was saved by a few feet. Unfortunately hydro says we're going to be out until Saturday. I hope they're wrong. We will probably have to take down some good trees as they are so close and have always held each other up. That's the problem with large cedars. Heard a pilot lost his life on Balsam Lake when his plane was flipped over.
  5. I just get sick of the repeats and yes those infomercials. It's about time to cancel.
  6. There is a launch in Desoronto at a park that has lots of parking. I think there is a charge of $3 in/out. Fishing should be heating up after a slower than last year start. Look for any weed growth and try trolling with erie dearies tipped with worms or you can slow down and jig any weedlines that you can find. It's usually good in the bay out from the trailer park to the left of the launch and anywhere up the reach along the west side.
  7. Makes me miss my dad! Great fish. Your dad doesn't look old enough to have done all that. lol
  8. Call the MNR tips line.
  9. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002296/ Here's some general information. Southern Ontario is of the most concern when talking about Lyme Disease.
  10. Will affect me at work. Why is there going to be a strike? I can't see any reason unless they are trying to take benefits back and cut wages.
  11. Many have died from Lyme Disease, so it is a serious issue for many. Don't take it lightly when dealing with ticks. Gabe Magnotta (Magnotta Wines) was one of those that lost the battle a while back to this serious disease .
  12. You're just rubbing it in! That is quite the trip you have planned.
  13. Where was the sun on the weekend?

  14. You just lived everyone's dream. Awesome looking fish!!!!!!
  15. If there is a piece of skin exposed that doesn't have repellant on it, it will get chewed no matter we wear. Leave it to Columbia to come out with a line of repellant clothing. I'm with Roy on this.
  16. It is paradise, that's why I moved to this area. You should have a good time on Sturgeon Lake. The walleye are biting pretty good right now. Oh, so are the blackflies LOL just lidding no bugs in this area. Cliff should open a resort! It looks like he has many guests going to his place.
  17. Where are you headed?
  18. I love my smokercraft!
  19. The tape worm is in the stomach. Most walleye have them and not many anglers realize that they are there when cleaning. Do not throw them out. First it is illegal and second you are wasting good fish. I have seen this many times over my life and it can't hurt you. At least it never hurt me, that I know of. LOL If it's the white grub in the meat, just pick them out and forget about it.
  20. Just a string of bad luck. However, site fishing and setting the hook when you see the fish hit is tough to hold back on. You have to wait until you feel the pull just as you would if you didn't see the fish. They should almost set the hook themselves if they're that close. Many large fish are missed on top water lures when the angler sets the hook to the sight of the fish breaking the surface rather than feeling it.
  21. I used to catch them in Honey Harbour using the same micro jigs I use for crappie. If I saw one sunning itself I would cast out past it and retrieve slowly so the bait came right by its eye or actual mouth and they would snap at the bait. You have a better chance of hooking them if you don't try to hook the bill.
  22. I still think that some are not following the slots judging by the size of some of the fish I saw on stringers on opener. I think it's ignorance of the fishing regs. Everyone has to keep talking about it and the MNR has to post signs everywhere possible to educate those that aren't aware. Launch ramps, tackle shops, stores, trailer parks, cottage resorts, lakefront community boards, etc. I don't personally keep walleye out of Pigeon Lake, because I would love to see that fishery come back to what it was years ago. I live on the lake and have been disappointed to see the walleye decline over the last 10 years, so I will do my part. Panfish are way tastier anyways!
  23. You might be able to rent a boat up the road at Paudash Lake. There are some monster bass in that lake, but a challenge to catch at times if you don't know the waters. Fish around weed and rock and you should do fine. Use tube jigs and senkos. There is a marina and a couple of resorts on the lake that you can check out for boat rentals.
  24. Was able to get out last night for a quick fish after avoiding the lake on Sunday. A buddy and I caught 4 walleye drifting across weedflats, using twister tails. One under the slot, two in the slot and a nice chunky one over the slot (58cm). Caught some really nice perch also. Where do these things go for the rest of the year? It seems every spring we get into these jumbo perch for a couple of weeks then they disappear. I found that we had to fish the baits slow to get the walleye to bite. Sorry no pictures, too wet out to bring the camera.
  25. Pflueger President, a little more, but what a reel. Might find one on sale somewhere if you look.
