  1. I hear way too many stories like this. That's why I will always attempt the repairs myself. I understand the warranty issue, which I went through a month after buying a brand new motor. Now I'm looking at having to replace a bunch of seals since they are leaking now from probably not being installed properly. I will not bring it in to get this work done, I just don't trust that the right guy/gal is working on the motor. I wish you luck. I didn't have any luck when I contacted the manufacturer, not even a reply.
  2. Well they kept pace! Go Leafs Go!
  3. "The Last Guide" a story about Frank Kuiack a guide in the Algonquin region, written by an Ottawa author. Great read that covers most of the 20th century. Easy read and enjoyable. Check online for places to find it. The Mike Iaconelli Story "Fishing on the Edge", a buddy said it was pretty good. He is a tournament angler from the States. Just a couple that might be worth checking out. Might be nice to get away from the technique part of fishing. That stuff can get repetative.
  4. They should have no problem with the last place team. If they lose, then start to show concern. Skinner is hurt, which can't hurt the leaf's chances of winning.
  5. RUN! Take it to someone you trust, chances are it doesn't need to be replaced.
  6. Just skip the ad and go to the video. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nGeKSiCQkPw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  7. Take advantage of your 5 hour limit and go as far north as you can. I wish I had a place to recommend, but judging from previous post, it gets better as you go further north. Obviously you're going after walleye and pike and the best walleye stories I hear about come from the north. (with the exception of Quinte at times)
  8. Just politely say no at the cash, but please do not stop donating to your local causes. Many of the local organizations do not receive any government funding; they survive only on funds from United Way and proceeds from too many fundraising events. I can tell you from personal experience that this is not an easy road to be on when trying to provide much needed service to the community. We have regular tag days outside the liquor store and the "Corporation" does not touch that money, so no tax receipts are provided for that kind of a donation. The Liquor Store is kind enough to allow us to do this a couple times a year where we might make $1500 - $2000 in two friday nights. They would probably allow more if we asked. Many have suggested donating right to the charity of your choice, which is a wise recommendation to ensure your donation goes to where you want it. Then you can get a tax receipt if you wish.
  9. Canadians sick and starving in Canada. Not good! Why do things have to be so difficult. All this debating???? Send food, water, medicine and the skilled people to get this righted now! Deal with the attitudes later. It's that simple. We send out help internationally at the drop of a hat, let's do it for our own people.

  11. I did get out on Balsam two weeks ago (nov. 25th) with a Muskie Canada buddy. Fished all day, trolling most of the time. My buddy caught a small one (23") when we stopped to cast for a bit. I didn't see any trailers at the Nogies creek ramp(Pigeon) on the Saturday when I drove by.
  12. Vote done!
  13. He was a loser on the ice and now proving that he is one off the ice. I never understand how someone can throw away such amazing opportunities in life by making stupid decisions.
  14. Team work is best!
  15. You da man! My hero, someone that can actually catch a muskie in the Kawarthas ( I know lots of you other guys can catch them too). I would put it at 48" to 50". As far as a resume: I live on Pigeon Lake, have a box full of lures, am not afraid to do a figure 8, will do the muskie dance if I have to, provide sandwiches and drinks, oh I have a map too! PM the date I start!
  16. Can you tell me your secret for catching fall bass in the Kawarthas?
  17. Congratulations! I will have to check you out the next time I can't do my own repair. Honour your work and you should do well. It's a small town and word gets around fast if people aren't happy.
  18. I emptied my boat out on Sunday, now it's full of snow :-( I hope to take advantage of some kind of fishing, but I think my boat is done for the year.
  19. There is a little place in Minden, right on the river. It is a Thai Food Restaurant (Wild Orchid), but he also has stuff for sale that he must have collected for 60 years. Not sure if he is open in the winter, but worth checking out if you're up that way in the summer. There is also another small place in Oakwood, just west of Lindsay on Highway #7 that might be okay to check out if you're driving by.
  20. Congratulations on your PB!
  21. You guys are tearing me apart. I can never hit them like that when I fish Quinte. I guess timing is everything. Nice job!
  22. That would be cool having your catch cooked at a local restaurant! The health regulators don't even want the fundraising BBQ's to happen anymore or the bake sales for that matter. Yes, I'm sure there are business minded individuals that will embark on such initiatives as selling food on the water, but I think the expense of following all the required regs can get expensive. You would need a very busy lake to make it worthwhile.
  23. We don't live in the seventies anymore. Government regulations ruined all those things that we remember from the good old days!
  24. I mounted a 59" muskie out of the St Lawrence for a guy about 20 years ago and it weighed 49 lbs. So, I would guess that fish was around 35-40lbs.
