Oil probably got into the exhaust and it's burning there. Drain some of the oil and check the dip stick.

Was on a small lake in Minden last weekend and the slush was horrible. I doubt that there has been much change. It's also going to get milder as the week goes on. However, there seemed to be lots of ice, just messy. Always take care on some of the bigger and deeper lakes.

Interesting. I'd hate to find out it has to do with botulism, but it might make sense if they switched to eating mussels with not many minnows or fry available. I only saw gobies.

I was out from Virginia Beach a couple of weeks ago on that cold Monday. We had drilled a few holes in various places and weren't getting much. I decided to lay down on the ice and see what was happening below. What I saw was a bunch of dead gobies lying all over the bottom. No fish! Are these things dying off or are people throwing dead ones back down the hole? Would this affect the fishing in that area if there are a bunch of dead fish on the bottom? Anyone have any insight on this?

snowmobile slams into ice hut on Chemong Lake

Everyone should do whatever they can for safety reasons. Maybe we wouldn't have the government telling us what to do all time if we all used common sense. No blame here, just an accident! All huts should have reflectors on each side and snowmobile drivers should watch for unknown dangers on the ice, then maybe we wouldn't read about this kind of thing. My son almost ran into an unmarked hut on Pigeon and his headlights are amazing. I remember years ago on Simcoe seeing a snowmobile crashing into a hut in some heavy fog, it was a good thing no one was in the hut. The snowmobiles back then were nothing like the ones today and that crash was scary. -
Why don't you just approach them and ask if it's okay with them. Not that you really have to, but it's a nice gesture.

Lack of Oil or water. Never a good sound. Probably all the rings are gone and major work needed.

I have found plastic in the belly of a lake trout from the Gooderham area. It was a 6" dinger.

Frankie-Have you identified the trigger to your migraines? Mine is caffiene, direct sunlight and changing barometer. I did try cafergot which contains caffiene, so I only took it once; it made me sick. I cut out drinking coffee and reduced the number of migraines I got. I also had a doctor prescribe beta blockers one year many years ago to prevent them and they almost disappeared after using them for one summer. Lately the auras have been coming back, but not followed by any severe headache. They used to be horrible, making me puke and the only way to get rid of it was to go completely dark and sleep.

If at first you don't succeed, try another method.

Aren't they like shooting a cow????? So they have a herd of 400-600 animals, probably not a good idea to open a hut for them yet! That would be an endangered population category for many animals in other areas. Too many conflicting stories about them anyways, to actually know what's going on with them. Is it that someone want to get a crack at an elk before they are to old to hunt them??? Just saying.

After years of having an aquarium, I would go along with the post that those fish are very boring. Go with African Chiclids, you will be much more pleased with the clours and personalities of the fish. If you decide to go with wild native fish, just don't tell anyone and there won't be a problem. Yes, there are laws in place for transporting fish, so don't put them in another body of water when you tire of them. Just my thoughts.

Hey guys! The post was about Stoty (OFC'R) and his G2 fishing. He has been great to me when I have asked him for advise on fishing certain areas. Give him credit for posting. Hang in there Stoty. I hope to fish with you some day. I wish I was making a living from fishing, however, I'm still fishing even if it doesn't pay!

Have you tried sticking those hand warmer packs down in your boots? It difficult to keep your feet warm when they're sitting in temps like that.

There still might be some sketchy spots, so be careful. My not so smart son decided to go on the lake last night with his machine and hit a slushy area that threw him for a loop and rolled the machine. This was his second ride of the year and already has repairs! I don't know if he will ever learn, but thankfully he is alive. This was in the south end out from Highview Acres. I saw open water about 5 days ago right by the two small islands. This area freezes before the big part of the lake, so take that into consideration.

They're lucky they didn't lose a hand or worse. Running all over the boat and falling down, with sharks roaming around under the boat. I bet they look back and say "what the heck were we thinking". Charter Fishing for Tarpon in Boca Grande is a little pricey! However, we can all dream!

I agree with the $300.

I have fished in the kawarthas for at least 40 years and would be hard pressed to say that I have ever seen a muskie go over 30lbs out of any of these lakes. I would say that Balsam has the heaviest fish. They seem to lose girth in most of our lakes once they get over 50". However, they seem to be healthier lately though, maybe eating more crappie. I would want measurements that include the girth before I believe the estimated weight of any fish. :-)

Marshmallows seem to be a universal bait for things that swim in the water, Go Figure! Okay, this is an excuse for my first attempt at posting a video. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1cWFz2rj8Y?hl=en&fs=1"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1cWFz2rj8Y?hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1cWFz2rj8Y?hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Does anyone know how do you post a video? Just interested in case I ever need to. Thanks,

Every back situation is different, so it is a pain in itself just to go through the strategy to diagnose the issue. I have suffered for about 25 years with one surgery on my lower back thrown in there back in the 90's. I always went to the doctor and they would send me for x-rays and then tell me I had degenerative disks, blah, blah, blah. I was sent to physio and they put me on the rack. That was one of the worst days of my backs life. I later told the physio guy to never do that again. He looked at me funny then ask me to do a couple of strength tests. After those test, he told me he wouldn't work on me anymore and that I should go back to the doctor and ask to have a CAT scan or MRI then a referral to a surgeon. I did that and they found that my sciatic nerve was completed flattened by a ruptured disk that was propbably there for over ten years. There were times I wanted to cut my leg off! The surgery fixed my nerve problem, but not the back problem. I still suffer from facet joint syndrome, take Arthritis Tylenol and go to the Chiro guy every three weeks. Starting to question the chiro, but continue to go. It feels good at the time. Heat is horrible for my back, but ice does wonders. I sometimes find myself laying on the frozen lake to get relief when out ice fishing. Get the proper pictures taken of your back before you get too involved in other stuff.

Yes, I agree! It won't be long before I have nothing left from my weekly pay cheque, which never goes up! I guess I'm lucky that I live on a lake and can paddle out to go fishing once the gas prices go too high or gas is no longer available. Sorry to say it, but playing fishing games takes hydro :-(

Man, those are some nice smallies!
