I have a hard time understanding someone wanting to eat a 20 year old fish now that we have those higher size limits. I remember many people eating them when the size limit was 28" or 32". You are correct though; I have seen people keep a 45" fish to eat.

I checked out some youtube videos but still have some hesitation. Might have to try to find a group to join. I think I might have the chantarelles figured out, but I never see them around my place. Wrong type of forest.

They look delicious, but I'm just not knowledgeable enough to trust myself to pick the ones that we can eat. Hopefully I can learn someday.

It's tough seeing an older fish floating dead in the lake, seems a waste. There are so many reasons that could come into play, sometimes we just have to accept that this will happen at times. I personally avoid fishing for muskie in this kind of weather, but can't avoid the incidentals while targeting other species.

Yes, I bought a couple of frogs and have good days and bad days with them. I would definitely choose another bait over them like Akrisoner said. Something rigged weedless like a fluke or swim bait.

I remember bringing in my pick up truck back in the 80's for a release bearing problem in the clutch. It was just out of warranty, but that happened on my trip back from Florida. I called the dealer and they said there was no record of oil changes being done. My first reply was, what does the oil change have to do with the release bearing and my second response was that I was fully capable of changing the oil myself. They are always looking for an angle to deny you. They eventually looked at my truck, but said I would be responsible for the labour if they didn't find anything wrong. Well they said that they could find anything and gave me a bill, but low and behold the problem was gone. LOL

Are you setting the hook when you see the hit? Best to wait to set the hook when you feel the fish pull rather than set when the blow up happens. However, sometimes the fish just don't take the bait for whatever reason.

West Guilford is not on lake Simcoe. It's about 2.5 - 3 hours from Toronto.

Just got back from our 5 day trip to Lac Dassarat in Quebec. There were about 16 of us this year. Started out with one of the guys having his car smashed in a pile up the Friday before we were leaving; he persevered though and was able to still make it. We made the 6.5 hour trek, with the final 1/2 hour being on a very rough road. We limped in with a flat tire from a puncture. Thankfully the owner of the resort had all the tools to plug it; my buddy ended up putting the spare on to be safe for the drive home. We got set up with the boats for the next day. The next morning we headed out with all kinds of confidence. Unfortunately the first thing we saw out on the water was the surface covered with those may flies; always a bad omen for us. That being said we still caught some fish, had a great fish fry, ate and drank too much and had a great time overall. We saw bald eagles, which is always cool, saw a loon trying to scramble on to shore to sit on its nest which was quite laughable and caught a variety of fish (Walleye, Pike, Sauger, Bass and Perch). Fishing was tough throughout the trip and in hindsight we should have focused on the pike, which might have given us more action. Here are a few pictures.

video:Drunk boater rams another boat on Lake St. Clair

No excuses like everyone else said, but he must have been pissed off to take it to this level. I can tell you there have been a few times I dreamed of doing something like this or tossing a large muskie lure in a certain direction. -
They would have been better off just decriminalizing it to lessen the load on the court system and prevent people from having criminal records. The carrot on the stick for the government to make a ton of money was too much for them to resist. AND like you said; now they are losing money. Geez. I guess they can still get it straightened out, but there is still a huge stigma attached to the use of weed.

Big changes on the bow mounted trolling motor front!
jimmer replied to David Chong's topic in General Discussion
Who can afford these things??? Way too expensive and full of electronics that breakdown. I grew up in an era where if you spent the money the item would last a long time. It's just not that way anymore. These things are built to break down, that's why you can't buy parts for older electric motors. They want you buying new. That's it for my negative rant.....- 36 replies

It's a cash grab as soon as the government gets their mitts on anything.

I think Rosen went in the Kadri deal, didn't he?

From our Quebec trip last July.

The fuel needs to flow in from somewhere, but can't be sure that is the way is should look. I'm not seeing the needle seat, did you remove it? You can buy the carb kit for that motor and it should have everything in it. Not sure how something would break away in that location.

They just have to be careful about what they eat. LOL

So, they have Johnsson and Kappy signed. If we believe Nylander, Marner will be looked after. LOL Where's the defense?
-
Don't you think that some of this is just getting a little too much for catching fish the size of bass? I'm sure it helps to catch fish and can be fun at times, but....I guess I don't know what I'm saying. Way too much money sitting in front of him....probably the value of my whole boat. LOL

I would have to agree. Being able to let Marleau move on was not going to be easy. Still interested in what he will do with the defense though. I just hope they don't over pay for Marner. He is good, but he hasn't really done anything yet. His family is reminiscent of the Lindros clan.

Hope you're up and about soon. Get well!

I think the whole awards show is over the top and I have a hard time watching it. Bringing models and actors out to present awards is a little too much for me. They should only bring past players out to hand out awards. Just my opinion.

Amazing, thanks for sharing your memorable trip with all of us! -
The first mistake was changing the opening to a week earlier a few years back. Maybe the crappy weather will provide some relief. However, bass seem to be resilient to the pressure for now. I also understand akaShag's point of view. No resource is endless.
