  1. Super interesting about the speed, thanks for posting. That's a beauty of a fish as well, congrat's.
  2. Someone who creates an account on an internet site solely to dredge up an old post in order to make a venemous reply, well that's got loser written all over it.
  3. I have the map, it's a truly beautiful piece of work. As a navigational tool it's the best I've ever seen. As a fishing guide, not so much. Bear in mind most of the traditionally good trout waters in Algonquin are no secret and quite well known. The best waters are in the interior. The lakes adjacent to or close to the hwy 60 corridor are just not that good. Notable exceptions being stocked lakes. I believe someone already posted a link to stocking lists for Algonquin. It's really not that hard to figure out which corridor lake to hit after studying those lists. There's a couple of lakes that are HEAVILY stocked. Way more than the others. If it's wild brookies you're after you're going to have to fish the interior though. Bear in mind you don't need that much time to do a quality interior trip. I've accessed Dickson a bunch of times in half a day from the landing at Opeongo. This obviously includes the use of a water taxi up and down the lake.
  4. Just going to miss you bud. I'm in Nakina Sept 27- Oct 2 Was hoping it was the 1st you were flying in. Would've been nice to shoot the breeze Friday night.
  5. When do you head back up there Doug?
  6. That book was discontinued because it was spectacularly inaccurate LOL! To the original poster, none of the waters you're contemplating are what I'd consider quality brook trout waters.
  7. Well done, glad to see you succeeded! Tip of the hat to Nick for the assist.
  8. Always carry a small baggy of chum (loose uncured salmon eggs). A little bit of candy thrown in the pool will usually garner a hit or two. Many guys overdo it though, throwing ridiculous amounts of roe in the water. Less is better. If you think there's 10 fish in the pool, throw 10 eggs. Good rule of thumb to follow. It's not something I personally do a lot of, but it's a deadly effective tool to have in your arsenal for those times that warrant it. Once you've chummed follow it up by drifting either a single egg or an egg imitation.
  9. Glad to see the trip went well Gord! By all accounts that's a pretty decent pike for Richter. Really looks like a fun time. Man do I regret not being able to join you guys. Fortunately there's always next year.
  10. So where are you coming from? What type of fish do you want to catch?
  11. This question comes up pretty regularly. In order to answer it properly more info is needed. 1.Where are you coming from and how far are you willing to drive to get to the jump off point? 2.What's your budget? Prices vary wildly among outpost camps. There's also fly in lodges with both housekeeping and american plan packages. 3.What type of fish would you prefer to catch? Are numbers of fish more important to you or is catching trophy fish paramount?
  12. Awesome Dan. There's 3 days left though, plenty of time to squeeze in one more trip. Lake trout should be on top of the shoals at months end, that would be a fun trip.
  13. Sadly I've seen it far too often. Every time a new logging road is opened to the public people swarm like locusts and lakes that were once difficult to access and full of fish become more or less sieved out.
  14. Looking at your pic's again it appears as though Gord managed a pretty decent pike.
  15. Can't believe you guys spent a week there, drove home, then drove right back again LOL! Must have been nice to have a two week break!
  16. Nice Rob. So did the experience live up to your expectations?
  17. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on WC. I havn't been able to reach the person who has the camp up there. Sorry. Hopefully someone else here is familiar with the lake.
  18. Outstanding Frank! You've got a great looking family bud, glad to see a good time was had.
