  1. You know as long as I've been fishing trout I've heard that said. Never once has the shine of a reel spooked any steelhead I've encountered. I could see the merit if you're fly fishing a tiny spring creek and have to crawl on your belly on your approach and cast blindly to the fish. Otherwise... Perhaps this could be an episode of myth busters.
  2. That's very true Albert. But something about being forced to do something, something that will potentially hurt my family financially, sticks in my craw. I'm all for it if there's zero financial repurcussions. Otherwise forget it.
  3. HA! I had no idea my little tale of woe was embedded in this old thread. Glad you enjoyed, and yes Johnny at some point we'll fish together!
  4. That's pretty cool Mike. Happy belated thanksgiving.
  5. You'll definitely want the 1300. Especially if you're running it on a 81/2' rod.
  6. I'll throw in a vote for silver.
  7. The 1600 is way too big. The 1300 is the one most steelheaders use.
  8. I had no idea you had that kind of talent Roy. They look amazing, very impressive work.
  9. Sounds to me as though you don't need any advice. Experience is the greatest teacher, and you seem to be doing fine. Good tip from Bill though about the ultragreen.
  10. Beauty fish and one of my favourite spots.
  11. He preaches at you about "proper" technique. About how there's only one true sporting way to fish for steelhead...swinging a fly. Then him and his guides sit anchored right on top the redds chucking ,ducking and flossing. Heaven forbid you want to book a room at his hallowed lodge and you want to fish...gasp....a centrepin. The Muskegon Mouthpiece.
  12. Reimer sure looked good. Lombardi and especially Steckel were big surprises as well. Say what you want about Burke, but right now Franson and a healthy Lombardi for Lebda and a minor league forward is just ridiculously one sided. Not getting overly excited though, weren't they 4-1 or something like that to start last year? LOL!
  13. It is Lew, but I'm looking for a better deal.
  14. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. Thanks Dutch. And yeah we're looking at boats in the States for sure. A tiller is unfortunately not in the cards. Not sure if I'd want one for Nipigon anyway. It would be nice to have a boat with a cover for long runs or nasty weather. Anyhow, fishing Nipigon isn't the primary function. Pretty hard to justify a purchase for something that would be used maybe every couple of seasons for a week. I hear you, but I can't stand glass boats LOL! Thanks for all the input boys, you've been a huge help!
  15. He is without a doubt the most arrogant prick I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. You couldn't pay me to read his drivel.
  16. Gord, forget the book. You're welcome to join me anytime!
  17. Not a fan of Legends but maybe if the price was right. Thanks That's what I'm talkin' about. Perfect! Even more perfect! Sell me yours!!!!!!!!!! It's just going to rot in your driveway now anyway.
  18. I tend to agree about the Princecrafts. It is kind of a rare animal, the model I'm looking at. Was hoping someone might know of a similar alternative. I've looked but with no luck. Thanks Lew. I like dealing with those guys, that's where I bought my Yamaha tiller a couple years ago.
  19. The only model that has a full windshield is the 1850 and it's just too big. That is a GREAT deal especially if the boat has as few hours on it as they say. It's just a bit too big for me. No not really. My dad approached me about buying a boat. He wants me to sell my Lund tiller and put the money towards something like this that he wants. He'll pay the balance. Now that my dad is semi retired he's spending a lot more time up at the camp than I am and my mother doesn't like getting wet LOL! It's a great deal for me, so no complaints. I should have mentioned earlier, the boat can't be longer than 16.5' or it won't fit in my covered slip up there.
