  1. You can leave that truck in my driveway. Please. Nice ride!
  2. I started out with the hockey stick/c-clamp on my first boat and it worked fine, but have run the sully one for the past four years on my current boat. It hasn't budged. Took a little fiddling with to get the transducer initially mounted perfect. Pete
  3. I was wondering about this too - my Motorguide is the same, slide-thru collar and I didn't like the idea of the cable free floating... But if you say it works Dax I might just give it a go.
  4. Ahhhh slime. Nice going guys and congrats on the PB Cliff!

MMMMMM looks tasty, just needs a little sriracha sauce! Nice pics Jo.
  6. Wow, that is an impressive collection of gators. 47" is incredible! Pete
  7. It's slime time boys All other fish step aside for the next six months!
  8. Thanks all! Love the carping, especially when you can get into the quantity and quality of fish like this right off your own dock. I hope the fishing stays this good all year - lakers on the ice were great, went for whities once and got into them good... went out for crappies twice and found the slabs... catfishing was spectacular... great carping... loving it! Next report... muskies... 3 days coming up in the Kawarthas for opening weekend!
  9. Nice one! My bait of choice has always been corn on a single hook, but this weekend the corn was getting swiped within minutes by all the sunfish in the shallows. 5 minutes on Youtube and I learned how to tie a hair rig... Happened to have a pack of boilies with me as well. 19 of the 20 carp caught on Saturday were on the boilies, as well as the one I caught on Sunday. Pete
  10. Hahaha agreed... very strange looking...
  11. The plan was simple: catch big carp all weekend. Friday evening : 16/20. Saturday 20/24. Sunday... 1/1. They were nowhere to be seen! Of the 37, six were over 20 pounds, I managed the biggest at just over 22. Also caught two mirrors, a first for me. Several personal bests were smashed. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking! Doubleheader... 22+ and a 16.5 The big girl of the weekend Will with a sun down fish My first mirror My second mirror Paul with one Andrew sets a PB with a 20+ Andrew with another 20+ - within ounces of his other one 7 year old Callum with his first Matt with a nice one Paul with another 33 inches for my team Another beauty Callum with another Fun had by all On a side note, anyone know if mirrors prefer to feed at night? Both were caught in the dark.
  12. Way to go bud! I didn't realize you hadn't caught any big ones before - we will have a blast when we go out! Pete
  13. Found a suitable size at Home Depot (4-40) and added two tiny washers so I didn't have to cut it down. Added loctite to the threads... Ready to roll!
  14. Electrical box screw is a no-go... Just tried it.
  15. Corn is all I use... Chum a small area with half a can, cast near the edge. First bite usually takes a while until they find your chum, but then they call their friends to the corn party and game on!!! I use the same setup as I do for catfishing - weight-bead-swivel-18" floro leader-small circle or carp hook. I put the rods in the holders, loosen the drag a bit and chill out until the drag starts screaming. I'm going to experiment with boilies this weekend, never tried them before. Like the fact that they float of bottom - keeps the bait outta the muck. Pete
  16. Good idea - thanks Don. Another member pm'd me that the screws used for electrical boxes fit - you just have to cut them down to length. Whatever I go with, it's getting Loc-tite...
  17. Greg, on the May 24 weekend there was zero weed growth and not a single carp to be seen where my cottage is - a week later and they were stacked in there. Water has warmed almost 10F! This weekend should be fun...
  18. After running around finishing my honey-do-list in the morning, I made the short run to to the cottage last Sunday afternoon with the wife and two boys, just to have some fun on the dock and a BBQ. We got there around 1:30pm, and started fishing by 2. Tyler (little man) had a blast fishing with worms and a float, and caught well over 100 sunfish, perch, rock bass and even a largemouth. Nick, Cheryl and I set up for carp... and it didn't take long to get into them. Overall, we went 11 for 12, the one I lost was a tank and snapped my 20lb floro leader on a blistering run! Anyways, we had four amazing hours of fishing... here's some pics of our fun! p.s. the triple header was amazing... close to fifty pounds of carp in the net! It cost me a reel though, got broken in the chaos... however the good people at Normark/Rapala took care of me and all is well. p.p.s.s. Added 32.5" inches for team 5 for the OFC tourney... had to play with the contrast etc. to make the sign visible LOL... hoping to upgrade anyways this weekend and not have to use the ugly pic.
  19. Hey guys and gals, Does anyone in the Durham area happen to have an extra screw for the handle for an Abu C3 6500 baitcaster? More specifically, the small screw that holds the plastic cap on which keeps the handle nut from turning. I was hoping to have this reel available for the cottage this weekend and really don't have time to run out to Aikman's in Mississauga until next week. Please let me know! thanks Pete
  20. Thanks for all the kind words guys - it was a great day fishing with 3 great guys. Only hard part was waking up at 3:15am! Simon & Troy - thanks again for your generous donation to Tyler's Auction. You guys were awesome to fish with, and I'm pumped that the fishing was as good as it was - that was an incredible run! My previous boat record was 23 cats for a day - and we beat that in 4 hours! Troy's biggest cat was just under 16 pounds, and there was a half dozen in the 12-13 range. You guys were good luck - things really slowed down literally right after you left! We only picked up one more big cat and three more sheepshead in the next 4 hours and then called it a day. Thanks as well for bringing the BBQ munchies - was a nice treat! Andrew - thanks a bunch for volunteering your boat for the trip. The extra room made it comfy for the 4 of us. A&P Guiding Inc. is off to a very successful start - the bar has been set pretty high LOL! Jeremy - thanks - but this day was all Andrew - including the hotspot! I'll add a few more pics when I get a second to upload them. Pete
  21. I was at SAIL yesterday and they have a Humminbird 12v 7a gel cell battery & charger kit for $60. I think Lebaron carries the same kit. Your 500 series Humminbird will last a long time off it, I ran a 525 with the same battery and used it for four or five long days of fishing before charging.
  22. I'll try take some pics this afternoon for you.
