  1. I have both a Daiwa Procyon and a Shimano Stradic FJ, both are excellent reels In that price range. I also have one of the older white Stradics, it is well over 10 years old and still works perfect!

Thank you again Fisherpete. Very nice to meet you.

  3. I have one, works well and is very compact.
  4. This, or you could just enlist the help of King Arthur. The Black Knight had no issues with fishy smell on his hands (or feet) after their encounter.
  5. Only 4 days left to bid on items in the Tyler auction!!!

I think they all close at midnight on the 20th - but check with Roy to be sure

  6. I use the same rod for this that I do when I am ripping bucktails for walleye on Rice - it's a Rapala TS2 jerkbait rod, I think it is 6'7" or so. Around $50. If I'm on a lake with smaller pike/bass this is my favourite technique.
  7. 8A now led by pikeslayer with a bid of $150!
  8. Stainless steel bar works well, I keep one in the boat. If you are trying to get the smell off your hands once home just scrub the bathroom sink with a cream cleanser like Vim and the fish smell is all but gone
  9. No, these fish were really dark compared to most of the ones I caught last year... same for my buddies. Their backs were almost black instead of grey/silver. Here's one with the typical colours from last year:
  10. Very cool - amazing to see one of our own on the show!
  11. Cram has taken the lead in auction 8A - $140 for Dunnville cats!
  12. Here's a few that the boys and I have caught in recent weeks. The last picture is my best one so far this year. Very thick fish that gave me a great scrap on a medium light rod I had borrowed - thanks Andrew! Good thing he brought extra rods... because in my haste that morning I left my entire rod case at home LMAO! I love the darker colour on many of the fish this year, anyone have theories why? Diet? Location? Somebody told me it is because they didn't spawn in the fall?
  13. Brian those are amazing - I hope I win one to use with my Fin Bore! I'm bidding on one in the auction. Everyone - I have added a 3rd guided trip to the auction - designated for muskie or salmon (trip for one guest) The first two trips look like they are going to be for catfish. Here's where the bidding stands so far... still a week to get a bid in! TRIP 8A - Dunnville Cats - icedude in the lead at $120 TRIP 8B - Dunnville Cats - DynamicBear, Christopher K and jeremy84 in the lead at $150 TRIP 8C - Kawartha Muskie/Lake Ontario Salmon - Freshtrax in the lead at $100 I can take 3 guests for catfishing... the more bait out there calling them in the better!!! Keep the bids rolling and support this great cause!
  14. I used to tow a 16' Tracker tinny with my 30hp Honda on it behind a Grand Am, but it was the V6 version. Two years of towing really put a beating on the suspension system. I think you would be fine pulling a boat like a 14' tinny with a 9.9 so long as you were careful where you launched, but think about the extra wear and tear that the Mazda will take. I have a Mazda 3 as well, and many of the replacement parts are not cheap!
  15. I am not a big fan of the regular ugly sticks, but the lites (cork handle) are good (in my opinion anyway).
  16. I have a 5' Ugly Stick lite, and have caught everything on it including a 20lb carp... is it super sensitive? No, and I would not recommend it as a walleye jigging rod, but for panfishing and general messing around it is fun and very durable. Great rod for the kids too. Pete
  17. BUMMMMP! Spoke with Tyler's mom today... she will have magnets and stickers available with the Tyler fish/puzzlepiece logo available for purchase to fundraise... so bring your loonies and toonies and grab some! I know my tackleboxes and boat are going to be sporting some, and a magnet on the fridge and car... As a bonus my youngest son's name is Tyler so he is going to think they are the coolest!
  18. Bumpity bump I have added a second trip to the auction One trip for cats One for muskies or salmon or cats (lol the kitties are popular!)
  19. Fang has a very nice Pentax Optio WG2 in the classifieds - worth a look...
  20. I have the older version of the Fuji, the XP10 - it has been a pretty good camera for me, and takes nice underwater video. Just had to replace the battery - it would no longer hold a charge. The newer versions of this camera are even better. Buddy of mine has one of the Olympus tough cameras and likes it. Have found myself taking many pics on my Iphone too lately - just so convenient - unless it is a really nice fish and then the camera comes out. Pete
  21. You are one smelty fella Brian LOL Those look tasty... last time I had smelts was in the early 80's when my grandfather brought home a BUSHEL of them. Spent the afternoon cleaning them with grandma... then the fry YUM Joey - PM sent. I have no commitment issues with my lakers - or is it the other way around haha Pete
