  1. i got one word to describe it.... CRAP! other people may have different opinions. but with my use of it, i was very disapointed. broke even when tying knots, broke when i got a fish on, even the slightest abrations will kill the line and its certainly not very abrasion resistant. if i was you i would stick to the wire leaders, but to each their own. oh wait im talkin about soft water, lol. i still wouldnt use it for hard water either. go with real flouro that has proven good in the past. (i spooled my whole rod with vanish. i dont use flouro leaders just straight up wire, unless i got a flouro worm harness) good luck, JP
  2. i renewed my card online. they sent me a whole new card.... i never carry around a print out and have never been bothered by any of the officers about it that have stopped me.
  3. dont get much better than that man! i moved away from here for 12 years and will never even consider doing that again! great video by the way, brought back some good memories from my fishing excursions and back road adventures. JP
  4. 5" and 7" on nipissing eh? i wonder how much ice is out on my lake now. bound to be at least 6".....
  5. i dont think hes around right now but, wormdangler (a guy on the forum here) might have some info. for ya!
  6. everything you just stated is fine. except for the jets, the main is over sized and the pilot is under... i think. whatever 25 pilot and 250 main is, compared to 40 pilot and 140 main, lol. and JF i pulled that motor out of a motoski. 1982 mirage 2 i think it was. anyhow i trashed the motoski chassis and kept a few spare parts cause that body and tunnel were rotted right through..... specially if u can put a screw driver through the belly pan with very minimal effort. ordered my jets and a few other things from royal distributing today so they'll hopefully be here in the next couple of days. crappy thing is, the ski-doo dealer up here went back to just contruction equipment cause they had a problem can-am ski-doo and bombardier company. goodish thing for me is i get my parts for dirt cheap. JP
  7. funny story too..... me and my buddy were out on one of our warmer rides. there was a crack in his rad line, we didnt notice so we were givin 'er up a hill then his kitty started smokin (1995 arctic cat zr580). so he shut it down right away. i gave him my sled to go to his house and pick up some more fluid. he got back we filled it up and went back to his house which we only made it about 5 mins. away from. next time we went out he was headin towards me cause i was stopped and waiting for my sled to cool down. next thing ya know he stops dead..... no spark. so he just left it in his garage till last week. replaced his wires and plugs and it was sittin idoling in his garage, when it started smokin again (no coolant leaks this time) im not sure what else happened but now he has to replace 2 pistons 2 sets of rings and 2 chrome sleeves...... well i thought it was funny haha. JP
  8. lol, i did pull that engine outta a race sled though. it came with the mikuni carb and custom made pipes (swapped them for original)...... long story short she runs good for her age and i just ordered what seem to be the right jets this time. and im pretty sure it is gettin too much fuel cause of the jets. and btw i have no clue when it was last rebuilt. JP
  9. sault ste. marie close enough for ya? i heard that people were out on paquette lake up on highway 552 this weekend. i wouldnt trust any ice this early but to each their own. i've fell through before and it aint fun tryin to get back out. JP
  10. hey guys, heres the problem, i give my sled full throttle she'll usually go. then other times it will go but there is a loss of power. could this be from the jets? because the jets i have are apparently are the wrong ones. i forget what size they are but the size that are supposed be in the are: #40 pilot and #140 main. or could it be i have a gasket leak? those are the 2 problems im thinkin of. its also running on last years fuel that was transferred back into the sled from the boat. it did the same thing last year with fresh pre mix gas in it (mixed to manufacturer specs). so anyone got a clue as to whats goin on here? BY THE WAY, the jets in there now are 250 main and 25 pilot. so sounds to me like its the jets, anyone else agree? and also the sled is a 1981 citation 3500 with a 377 rotax. thanks, JP
  11. while this thread is open... what kind of belt would you recommend for a sled? i forget what my belt is but its time for a new one.
  12. i'll say that i hope that in their process of finding a way to keep them things outta the lakes they dont release any toxins that will affect the other species in the ecosystems....
  13. i couldnt really tell you for sure whats in the newer set ups either. it hasnt changed a whole lot i just know they dont use gliders. JP
  14. your right about the clutching system not changing a whole lot. the only thing now is im pretty sure they dont use sliders on the secondary. JP
  15. my sled the engine was changed from a 277 single to a 377 twin f/c. i rode it thoroughly last season and no squeeling for me. changed the secondary clutch too after about 20 kms. the mounts are incorrect for it, with me having to put about a 1/4" spacer beside the end of the front mounting bar to keep the bolt from bending. never threw off any alignment to my surprise. but however i do remember you asking this same question earlier in the year, and this time ya got different answers haha. JP
  16. hey, who knew a troutologist could catch big esox like that, haha. good job man!
  17. depends on how big the spacer is i guess. that may very well have been your problem. but then again im no expert either.... is the wear on the belt irregular/faster than normal? JP
  18. wal-mart is a great store (in my opinion) speacially the one across the river in the states. big and has everything i want......well, almost everything..
  19. got a question for ya, is your quad a belt drive?
  20. those look like some pretty heavy pieces of metal there! lol. theres what i got, 1981 ski-doo citation 3500 with a 377. good reliable sled, just stripped it down to paint it. got the chassis done high gloss black (hopefully it cuts down on the friction) now its onto the cowling which is gettin painted ski-doo yellow and the seat is gettin changed back to the original. got new OEM stickers commin too. lookin for a polaris triple right now for a trail/ice fishing sled. JP
  21. well heres an idea guys, it deffinately sounds like an electrical circuit problem, look into the electrical, find computer componants, call a mechanic, see what they know. and if they dont sound like their right chances are, they arent lol.
  22. now that is a SWEET set up for sure man! i cant wait till i get my quad this spring.
  23. well, im not an expert but i know enough to get me by, wether this may help you or not i don't know but.... the van has a semi-similar problem, signal light goes all wonky, its reversed with the back up light on the passenger side which by the way is the only side with this problem. it has its moods where it wants to work right but is still reversed with the back up light 24/7. i have narrowed it right down to the "body control module" (i think thats what it is called) and it will cost about $250 for the part. they make these vehicles now that it makes it tough to be able to do anything with cause u dont got the right tools. my van is a 2001 oldsmobile silhouette, and the chevy venture and other GM made vans have that common problem. anyhow i hope i helped, try to check into that body control module. also see if u can find any helpful forums. J.P.
