  2. hey folks, just wonderin how the fishin is at the locks lately... they still bitin on roe? any more 'eyes being caught? thanks, JP
  3. yep anders is right! i always do well this time of year trolling worm harnesses.... i was on a new lake on the weekend and spent a chunk of the day pike fishing with spoons and cranks but only managed to capture 1. then we went trolling for walleye and as soon as we trolled past a river mouth and over top of a nice weedbed we had an 'eye on every pass we made (figure 8 trolling:D). and we even got a big 7lb pike over top of that weedbed lol and it was extremely well fed and still had a tail sticking outta its mouth.
  4. i use the same line for everything except for ice fishing and whitefish fishing... which is 12lb berkly vanish, it doesnt have the greatest knot strength for certain knots but i just reverted back to tying random knots with that line and have never had a break off yet, just a few missed hits. this line performed extremely well walleye/pike fishing yesterday. however its "multi-polymer technology" does "abraid" just like normal mono but still keeps its strength very well. JP
  5. lol well my personal smallest is about 15", but that ones great!
  6. LOL! got that right!
  7. great report!
  8. i just do a rinse in water, and then salt it and tie it. i shared some roe with fellow fishermen today and they got plenty of salmon and steelhead and i got myself a 16lb king lol.
  9. hmm.... come to think of it i shoulda took a picture of the school of pinks mixed with a few kings that i saw today.... but cool pic though!
  10. well..... them salmon certainly didnt want spoons of any kind today, a guy caught 2 salmon on a buzz bomb, and the other guys were bouncing around roe and thats deffinately what they wanted today.... but i did get into a school of mixed salmon (mostly pinks) which had a king roaming around with them, but i casted out the ol' cleos and had some followers but no hits.... JP
  11. mmhmmm, nice eyes for sure!
  12. lol
  13. does anyone know if you can catch a fish off a beach on lake superior, say..... pancake bay beach? or harmony beach? or even the beach on jones's landing? OR any beach on superior in general...
  14. GCD, your on a roll! lol....... no, not only americans poach in canada, some greedy selfish canadians like to keep loads of fish too and you'd be surprised at how many people of both countries slip through the cracks of the MNR. and ALOT of americans seem to own property up here in the soo. I'm pretty darn sure that for a set posesion limit in ontario waters means that at any time your only aloud that many fish per person.
  15. hey folks, im lookin to get out salmon fishing tomorrow morning at 4:00am! any advice for preferable tackle for salmon in the st. mary's river would be great.(i got the cleo thing down, just lookin for somethin new?) if anyone can answer this question, thanks in advance: does a roe, hook, and slip sinker set up produce, or.....? i've been wanting to try it for a while. JP
  16. believe me, the local fishing in some of the lakes you can drive into is horrible enough already!
  17. lol Dara, there was only one time i seen i seen a line up on the road up here but then again im not much of a timmies person but i always used to see that stuff go on in southern ontario and was very annoyed by it! but haha! a cop blocking the road... thats classic
  18. haha got that right GCD! lol do you southerners count yourselves as americans, or...........?
  19. yes, thats true! but if no body's gunna follow the law then why bother letting them in eh? specially if their gunna diminish the fisheries like that!
  20. Okay, here it is.... americans (from michigan) were checked at an mnr check station in northern ontario (agawa bay) and had an illegal possesion limit of 72 or 76 walleye! that of which was over the groups limit by 36 fish.... not only that, they had them illegaly packaged in a way that they were not readily available to be counted or indentified. people like that is the reason why the fisheries are going to hell. i would love to pass my love of fishing onto my kids some day but what would they think if their sitting there not catching fish? oh ya and they got fined $7,200!
  21. ya me too, 2/5oz. glo-orange and glo-green i use both day and night but have only caught one pink salmon with my first cast right after buying them... i've been thinking of using a hook and roe with a slip sinker? lol just pm TDunn, it looks like hes been doing well for himself. JP
  22. ya i've been told that too, anyhow thanks for the info!
  23. yup me too! i gotta get out there fer some musky, i mean i have had some nice pike but a big ol' 50 inch musky would be quite the experiance.
