  3. lol well seeing as my last post got deleted on me by my computer... i would go down there myself but it turns out im too lazy and im done with salmon for the year anyway, just wanna see how their runnin, maybe people are still drifting roe? iunno, anyway what i really, really wanna know is when the whitefish return to the western pier, are there not any true whitefish anglers on this site????.... from the soo?
  4. hey, anybody been to the locks lately with all this rain? if so how are the salmon running now? and anyone have any idea as to when the whitefish usually return to the western pier and are they even anywhere around the locks during the late summer months? (august/september) thanks, JP
  5. i know eh. where'd you fish? and what all did ya catch? JP
  6. hey crazyhook, how about a show in the algoma district?? there is a lake above bruce mines thats on fire right now! anywho, lookin forward to the show! JP
  7. well, this weekend im gunna go head out the the locks again but this time for perch and bass (yes i've personally caught them while going for whitefish). i dont have a question about the perch or bass other than is there any recommended spots for perch at the locks? my main question though is about the whitefish, when do they come back in to the western pier? and does anybody know where they are right now? oh also i've heard/seen walleye commin outta the ice by the western pier in the winter, does anyone know when they start migrating to there? thanks, JP
  8. i wanted to try netting that one 7lb pike with my trout net but i decided it woulda just flopped out haha. woulda been crazy to land though, but the hooks didnt hold onto it for verry long cause of the way it hit the harness.
  9. hey people, i've been able to get by with my little trout net cause my i never used to fish with a net. but anyhow any suggestions for a good quality for pike/walleye? preferably a deep net lol and something that a big enough pike wont break through oh almost forgot, an adjustable one too.... thanks, JP
  10. have you ever been salmon fishing? its quite the experience too! just like musky they are a powerful fish but if you got the right drag setting you can almost guarantee yourself a nice meal... I myself have never eatin musky but have been told its pretty dang tastey.
  11. i go bass fishing i catch perch, i go ferch fishing i catch sunfish, i go sunfish fishing i catch perch, and finally i go perch fishing and a pike eats it..... pain in the bottom..... lol go get that musky, mike! i have yet to catch me one of those big suckers. JP
  12. lol i find that funny, talkin about energy drinks VS sleep and theres an energy drink advertised up at the top of the page.... at least on my comp anyway
  13. i dont know about you guys but energy drinks dont do crap all for me! i just buy them every so often because i like the taste of some of them, but they seem to taste even better while fishing rather than sittin at the t.v. drinkin 'em lol. even after or before a good workout they dont work for me. doesnt even matter if i take caffine pills or anything.... i just cant get "hyper" or get even a rush or whatever offf those things lol after i drink one im still in the same state i was before i had one..... and once i wake up, it doesnt even matter what time it is i could have just an hour of sleep after a 12 hour shift, and im ready to go! JP
  14. nice fish! how long did that big pike measure? JP
  15. nice fish... what lake is that at?
  16. well, did you see "worm dangler's" report on that monster pike? 40" pike caught on a worm harness while trolling and if your a walleye fisherman im sure you've used worm harnesses, i usually use those for big pike but the biggest i've recieved so far is a healthy 30"er on a lindy wire worm harness (silver blades, red beads, 3 hooks) just remember that sometimes the bigger the lure doesnt always mean the bigger the fish. pike are honestly the fish i target most, along with salmon, whitefish, and walleye. my biggest pike have always come while trolling harnesses over weed beds for walleye. and that big 40" from "worm dangler" was caught in a weed bed in about 14-15FOW i think.... i was gunna fish that spot last weekend and i should've! lol.. i find that peoples tackle selections get a little complicated when fishing for these voracious fish and my tackle is light and works very well for what i target.... well anyhow good luck out there! JP
  17. fine then how about a 220lb thrust then eh? haha
  18. well i ate a king last year, its meat was still pinkish but deffinately not as good tasting as an earlier season chromer! (i caught and ate it on about oct. 12 from the rapids in sault ste. marie ont.)
  19. well im a relatively new boater too, but i know what im talkin about! lol. you should get a 40 pound thrust minnkota with a deep cycle battery (a normal car battery will turn to junk a whole lot faster than a deep cycle).... just when your motoring across the lake be sure to pull your motor in unlike "worm dangler" (a fellow OFC'er) who forgot to and smacked it off a rock and it went flying and was never able to retrieve it.... lmao! but a 60 pound would be a good investment too. JP
  20. lol well its good to finally hear from ya! and in such a great way haha. thanks for the info.... I too am now considereing headin down there for some action.... the problem is gettin there.... and i must know your set-up.... seeing as how none of mine work.... i swear to god that musta been you i was talkin to the one day i was there by the way, nice FISH! JP
  21. i would too if i actually caught one by jigging, haha.
  22. trolling harnesses? lol btw nice fish! JP
  23. lol theres lots! of good lakes for pike up behind there
  24. well, i spool my whole reel with berkly vanish and yes the knot strength does suck BUT i just tie it randomly and bam lol i get a nice strong knot, i use it for trolling too and it worked extremely well with those super light biting walleye and YES i've caught a few salmon on it too, but now its time to re-spool with some 12lb berkly big game. JP
