I bought that exact same bird unit at Fishing World this spring. They had the best price by far! I like the unit. Took a bit to get dialed in as I was a lowrance guy but I have it linked to my new 899 and I love the new setup. The elites cannot beinked so that would push the 859 to the top of the list for me. I owned the elite5 and it was a good unit for me.

You would have to add the switch yourself. It is a work around developed by a fisherman. The pedal can still not be used at the same time as the remote though but u can chose which one to use them.

There is a way to add a switch into a power drive v2 that enables you to use pedal or remote.

The motorguide xi5 looks amazing - possibly better than minn kota Terrova. BUT - it is new so I would wait for a bit to see how they hold up. It is quieter, turns faster and has better spot kick than a Terrova. But is it as reliable?????

Like any profession - most are awesome. A few are brutal. I feel sorry for the mostly dedicated and fair police officers out there now.

It's worth the drive. Gmecs advice is excellent. Big ones started showing up last weekend. More biggies early but the river is a great place to take kids in May for walleye and then silver bass till your arm hurts.

If u have the MK metal quick release bracket, just run your cable through the area created by the two metal plates. An OFC member shared this with me. I sandwiched a corrugated wire cover in there that the wire could slide in and then out a stopper on the wire. The wire will be loose from the shaft but it is the best option of many bad ones I researched. I would not drill into the shaft!!!!!! Nice TM motor btw.
