  1. Rain has nothing to do with it. The strong SW or W winds muddy up Erie and the river. U may be able to get out after Christmas. That's my plan/hope. The river is a safe place if u have common sense. Fish the backdraft right at the launch of go across to artpark. Be cautious of N winds at the mouth as it can make very big waves against the river current. Do you have a trolling motor and are you good with it?
  2. Unfortunately, having Hudak at the helm ensured that the liberals would win again. I am a liberal by nature but I have had it with all politicians.
  3. Thanks to everyone. I called Rogers Customer Retention and got basic cable, a free HD box and unlimited internet for 90$ plus tax.
  4. Idan668 - I was planning on canning my cable TV then calling back later to tell customer retention that I am gonna cancel the Internet and phones too. Do you think that is why u got good rates or is it due to you bundling as well?? Meaning do u have everything with Rogers like I do. Here's why I ask - I just tried to cancel TV but then they told me my discounted Internet rate would go up to 88$ from 48$ which means my bill would only go down $10 and I lose TV too.
  5. First off - I posted last week that this site should be fishing only. Lol. So sorry about this post. And yes I now eating crow. Anyways - I am done with Rogers - they drive me insane!!! What is the cheapest internet in Canada that actual works well? need at least 550 GB a month. Basically we surf the net, watch some movies and use Xbox live. We r dropping cable period so need a fair bit of data. Thanks for your help guys.
  6. If this is your first year fishing musky then that is a ridiculous statement. You are doing fine. I have been musky fishing hardcore for 10 years. 5 years on St Clair. Strictly casting. Have lots of high 40's and only one over 50. My friend who fishes way less than me and only with me has three over 50. They will come. Size of fish is luck. Putting fish in the boat regularly is skill. You will have lots of hot streaks and some real bad ones and some serious heartbreaks (I lost a mammoth fish last summer:). It's both torturous and fun. Keep putting fish in the boat and the 50's will come.
  7. This site has become a joke. We should go back to fishing-only posts Some of the posts on this site make my blood boil. It's my fault for taking the bait and reading them. Let's just stick to arguing about fishing.
  8. The floater coat info was wrong I agree too.
  9. Lakers are open now in CDn side. Go easy on the guy Mr G. His advice was not so bad. He was just trying to help. No need to be rude. I believe a TM is a necessity. It will also allow u to fish a north wind if you have to by moving you down wind with your bait. And Devils Hole is not a big deal to run or fish if you are cautious, follow others' lead, a good boater and good on the TM. (Watch out for the very big boulders at the head of that pool!!!!!!) IF you do not have the skills - stay at artpark or Queenston or lower. And I agree with everything u said. U took his C+ answer and made it an A with your extra info.
  10. Cram is correct. We can no longer bank days. It has been halted but it was promised to us in past settlements and so therefore should not be stolen back just frozen as it has been.
  11. The best drifts in the river are U.S. Side. U can get a one day license online for $15. Launch at queenston and fish right there in the back eddy, drifting upstream, on CDn side or cut upstream at 45* angle and fish the artpark Drift on US side. Follow the crowd. 1 oz lead on a three way setup with 6' of leader to your bait. Use your TM to chase your line and stay vertical. Don't get too tight to shore till u get comfy. I try to keep an eye on depth and glide my lead just over bottom. I find this helps feel bites which are usually subtle dead weight. The constant tap of bottom makes it hard to decipher bottom from fish. It ain't rocket science. I usually do well there. However, whenever i see Paul Castellano there he humbles me by at least doubling my numbers.
  12. How much does a flare gun and flare shells cost? I am pondering it now.
  13. I think in that case you likely broke the anglers code Chris but not any laws.
  14. Bad decision to beach it. But he did get screwed.
  15. I am working on not letting things like this p me off. It's a work in progress. Those guys are not worth it. It's easy for me to say but try to ignore these types and enjoy your day on the water. We are so lucky in Canada to have the money and resources to do this. On the flip side, there is an American musky guide on St Clair that gets pissed and starts shooting his mouth off to his clients if anyone fishes within 100 yards of him on known Muskie casting spots. He trash talked me after I pulled in UPWIND of him by 100 yards on a drift along a Drop off. My friend, begged me to drive over there so he could jump in their boat. Lol. He would have done it too but I refused.
  16. I once got schooled on the Catt by an American using minnows. He slayed them. I cAn honestly say that that is the only time a Yankee steelheader outfished me in NY.
  17. That warm spell pushed em shallow IMO. Was on St Clair and caught our Muskie out in the lake in 6'.
  18. Cabelas guide wear and 100mph suits are the best choices by far for the money. Most of the other cheaper stuff will leak and the simms suits are so expensive.
  19. I decided to hold off on the simms gloves. May try the kasts as they get good reviews for dexterity and durability.
  20. Wait for a bit. Cabelas often blows th out late fall or winter. I got mine for 225 U.S.for the bibs and coat. They have been good for me.
  21. Thanks for the feedback guys.
  22. We do have it good. I like my job a lot. Just don't want myself or the system to move backwards. If u disagree that's okay. Not trying to be argumentative. I believ Toyita gets a salary index each year but I could be wrong.
  23. Quote: Last I heard, one of the final negotiating points was that the teachers want to keep their sick days That is not correct. They have frozen the buildup of these days already. Some teachers in our board with less than ten years experience had their accumulated sick days that they banked and were promised under past contracts forcibly paid out at pennies on the dollar. Not whining - just a fact. Don't believe everything that u hear in the media or secondhand. I am not trying to convince u to root for me as a teacher. It's a free world and you are entitled to your opinion - just be aware that the government and media are not sharing the whole or real story. I sincerely hope that my Union is being honest with me and have faith so far that they are. Like I said, "I" and most teachers want a cost of living increase (u may or may not agree with that), to not lose family health or sick benefits and we also truly want class sizes and special education funding to not take a hit because that hurts kids and makes it more difficult for us to provide the best experience possible for your child. That's the honest truth for me. I am passionate about maintaining a world class public education system. It's not perfect - we're not perfect. But the majority of educators are skilled, hard working and deeply care about their students. I agree, due to unionization, some are not. I wish strike action did not need to happen but that is not the reality we are facing right now. On a side note, are people out there in the private sector not getting some type of cost of living or salary indexing right now? I'd like to hear either way if u don't mind.
  24. For the record I never stated that u or anybody else was uneducated or lesser in any way Moxie.
