The last couple times I've been out fishing, my live-well pump seems to be giving me problems. Once in a while, I'll turn on the pump, but it wont pump water. I can hear the pump running, but no water enters the live-well. I'll shot it off, wait a minute or two and attempt it again, and it works fine. It has done this a several occasions. I don't run it while the boat is going above tolling speed, so its not like I'm running it dry. Could my pump be damaged?

Fishing Nipissing I assume?? Where are you launching?

THE OPENER - BASS - Who, What, Where, When
LucG replied to BillsTheBassMan's topic in General Discussion
I've always been able to pick up a rod, put on one of the very few lures I had, and managed to catch fish. This year, due to the fact that I am fishing tournaments in a small local bass club, I have decided to learn about when and why I should use different techniques, and what type of rod setups is best. I've already learned so much, and the season hasn't even began (besides a few pike tournies) Wish me luck! -

Felt in North Bay as well. I'm curious as to where the center was.

Yeah, I noticed that too! All good reads!

I received $100. Deposited directly into my account.

Great! Thanks for the advice. For their price, I think it will be $ well spent.

I'm very new to running/trailering a boat. This weekend while I had my new toy out on the road, I found myself very nervous going over evey bump and pot hole. I know guys with bigger motors use transome savers and I was wondering if it would be a good investment for my boat? Or am I being over cautious? If so, what do these things go for?

Nice brookies! I love getting up close to big game like that!

I was thinking the same thing. Apparently, these guys werent making that much sense, and it was hard to get the story (the facts MAY be slightly different then mentioned above). But after a night in the bush, I doubt I'd be making sense too.

On Sunday, our local Bass club had a pike tournement on Nipissing. We launched at the Sturgeon docks at 8:00, and had all of Nipissing to fish. On our way out, we came accross two stranded fisherman in a small 14/16 ft alluminium boat. After waving us down, we found out that they had had motor issues and that they had to stay out on an island over night. Now here's the interesting part. They said they broke down on the other side of the lake. Managed to get to an island where they eventually ended up staying the night. The next morning, they waved down another boat who towed them 10 km to another island. Said he couldnt take them any further due to the lake conditions and left them on another island a short distance away from the mouth of the sturgeon river. They managed to paddle into the mouth, then broke one of their paddles. Thats where we came in. One of our club members towed him back to where he had launched. I would have though that the first boat should have towed him in to safety??? NO??

Great! I'll be able to tow with my mind at ease now. Thanks

I recently found a really good deal on a hitch and receiver for my Ford Ranger. My question is about its size. It is a 1 1/4" hitch, with 2" ball. I asked a few people if its size was suffisent before installing, and was told I shouldnt have any issues. It is in fact rated for 300 lbs tongne weight & 3000 lbs towing. Then I received a few oposing comments.... The only thing I will be towing is my boat (16 ft allu. lund) and my quad (Outlander 500 with small atv trailer) Should I have gone with the larger size hitch, or will I be just fine? Thanks

I usually did the exact same thing you mentioned. Seems to work great for me. I've even succesfully used white styrofoam piece to imitate bread.

Woo Hoo! I was starting to think this contest was rigged...lol just kidding... Thanks TJ & OFC....and to whoever picked my number

I'll be fishing in a local Bass Club Pike tournement this weekend in that area. We are launching at the sturgeon govt. dock. Allthough we do have the option of going anywhere on Nip. I'll keep your post in mind and stay away from cach bay, especially if there aint any fish.

I was on the North Bay shore last night before the wind picked up, and there seem to be quite a few. Is there a difference between the mayfly & shadfly? I allways thought the mayflies came before the shads and were a little smaller?

I've been doing alot of fishing recently, and have spent alot on worms buying by the dozen... I plan on buying a flat or two of worms, but am unsure on how to keep them. I prob wont have acces to a fridge and the only other place I can store them is in a cool damp shed. What type of box, soil mixture etc should I use? What could they be fed? If anybody has succesfully kept worms, please give me some insight on how you managed. I really dont want to buy 500 worms and have them die before I can use them. Thanks
