  1. Hey guys, I have just been given a brand new reel. My uncle won it in a golf tourny last summer and dosent fish. I was wondering if paired with the right rod, could it be used for bass fishing. The reason I ask is because it seems a little big. Here are the specs... Rapala SX4i 4 Ball Bearings Reel Size 30 Ratio 5.1:1 Line Cap 8-200 10-155 12-100 Any advice on what type of rod it could be matched with as well as what type of bass fishing it would be best for, I would greatly apreciate. Thanks
  2. Aww...I was looking forward to meeting Bob & Bertha! Besides, I dont have a facebook account...
  3. I have a 50 gal tank filled with african cichlids. I sometimes wish keeping game fish was legal. It'd be interesting housing a bass in a 150 gal tank. Not all of us can just hop down to Bass Pro...lol
  4. Very cool! Wonder how longfs its been there??? Do you have any other videos of cool sightings down below, other than fish that is...lol
  5. ahhh I see Thanks
  6. Nice Leechman. I've been thinking of doing somethng similar myself. Question: Why is the rear part of the horizontal stick offset? Is this for line or for balance? Good job!
  7. What number are you calling? I read there were issues with the blades as well.

Great! Thanks for re-assuring me. I've allways froze my fish in water, but someone I know made a comment on how it was best without. And who better to ask than the OFNers. Thanks again.
  9. I headed out to the camp and fished a few back lakes in the area this weekend. One lake for pike, and one for trout. First lake all we could pull up were perch, nothing with any size. But I knew there were alot of pike with at least a couple big 15 - 20 pounders. Then out of nowhere, I must'nt of had my head turned for 10 seconds, my brand new jigging rod disapears down the hole. Despite having 3 other lines around that hole, and using the Fish TV, we were unable to relocate my rod which was prob at the other end of the lake by then. Before leaving we did end up cathing a couple small pike. The next day we targeted trout. We did really well catching our limit in about 4 hours. Which brings me to a few questions: 1. While claening the trout, I examined the stomach contents. One had a fresh frog. Would the trout have dug him up from under the mud or something? Has anyone every seen this before? 2. Second question is about storing fish. I've allways froze my fish in water because I was told it help prevent freezer burn. Is this correct. What is the best way to freeze fish.
  10. Is that for Nipissing as well? I couldnt find anything in the regs about herring.

  17. Its funny you should post this. I've heard of "blue" perche before, and when we started catching the odd few in Nip people around us said when the perch where that colour that they were sick or had some kind of parasite. I just laughed and then ate him. lol
  18. I was shopping for a baitcasts reels at basspro.com and found that alot of them are only available in a right hand retreive. Now I've allways held a rod and casted with my right hand and retreived with my left. Should it be the oposite with a baitcast reel or should I just do what feels more comfortable. Thanks
  19. Niiiice eye! Caught on the buckshot eh? I love those lures! I have them in all colours....lol
  20. Maybe thats why there was a pricing issue. lol It prob got returned for that reason. If its not visible, they will just stick it right back on the shelf...
  21. What kind of gear would you suggest it a must for someone getting in to some fishing tournement? Besised all the lures/baits, what is a must have? Do you need alot of rods?
  22. Nice shack, thats for sure. Ughh oh yeah, I mean Taj Mahal! lol Now where did he say it was? He might get alot more visitors now
  23. As allways, awesome report and great pics! Keep em coming!
  24. You can also ask a local trapper if he/she would like to take care of the problem for you. Sometime a trapper might charge a fee, sometimes not. The market for coyote pelts aren't very high at the present moment so I would think most would charge a fee of somekind. If I was in your area I'd trap them for free. It's one of my favorite hobbies, besides fishing that is.... If you calling from within Ontario, you can try contacting the Ontario Fur Managers Federation (705) 254-3338 or your local MNR office, they might be able to give you the contact info of a local trapper. Good luck! Luc
