Nice fish! Thats a big smallie in the last one!

Here's the deal... I've been wanting a bow mount motor all summer, but just never had enough cash to get what I wanted. I recently found one for sale, but am unsure if I should buy a used one or if I should just wait until I can afford to do it right. Its a Minn Kota 50 lb thrust with a 45" shaft, 12 volt. and apparently in great working condition. I can pick it up for $125 Here are some pics... Anyone know how old this is? What should I do?

Thanks for the tips! I'm really enjoying fishing largies, on some lakes, its a whole new ball game entirely.

Got him, and many others, flippin a texas rigged craw style bait. At first I was flippin about 5-6' into the pads, but had much better success throwing right at the edge. It seemed as if the bass were just tucked away under the pads ready to ambush anything on the edge.

With all the largemouth fishing I've been doing lately, I was finaly rewarded with a lunker. Its no nickel but its still a PB for me. No weight or measurement, but I know for sure I havent got anything that big. I think I'd put it at about 3.5-4 lbs.

Having been using alot of texas rigged baits recently, and for the first time I rigged a tube this way. I found I got caught up a whole lot less, brought in barely any weeds, and is basically snag proof. But I was thinking there must be a disadvantage since I never hear of people rigging a tube texas style.

I got my antlerless tag too....three years in a row now.

Yesterday after returning from fishing, we noticed my trailer lights were not working properly. I'm not very good with electrical, so I don't know what could be the problem. I'll try to explain exactly whats going on... With my running lights OFF, everything works fine - brake lights, left and right signal. With my running lights ON, right away my right hand light is brighter then the left (almost seems as if its stuck on). My left hand signal lights and brake light are fine. But since the right is "stuck on" it does not change. I hope I explained this so at least someone can understand. I'm thinking its a short, or bad ground... Thanks guys

Look at the bright side...you had the chance to wash all your lures.

Just wondering if anyone who fishes the Temiskaming Smallmouth Bass Tournament Series is looking for a partner (non-boater) for this weekends tournement on Lake Temiskaming. Its on August 8th. I've fished several local bass club tournaments and am interested in trying something a little bigger. I'm no pro by any means, but I know how to get bass in the boat. PM me if your looking for someone. Thanks Luc

The most successful way for me to fish a drop shot has been right under the boat. I often have a drop shot setup and ready for when I mark fish under the boat in about 12-20 fow. Simply drop it down, and like others have mentioned, leave the weigh in contact with the bottom, while very slightly twitching the tip of the rod. I've done really well using Gulp Alive minnows. Good luck

He's lucky he didn't get charged. Last time I read of someone stuffing lead weights, they were charged with fraud over $50,000 due to the fact that first place prize was a bass boat.

Nice smallies! Sounds like an amazing day.

I ove the blooper where his trolling motor falls off the mount...it almost seems staged...

Thanks! The front compartment is storage. I've got one of those long narrow livewells on the left hand side of my boat. I was actually considering housing my battery there, but will now look at other places. Thanks. These are the tips that are truly valuable.

Its funny you post that cause just the other day I caught one about that size if not bigger....on a SENKO...lol Felt him bite, I set the hook, and reeled him in..lol Didnt know it was a bull from until I had it at the side of the boat...

Thanks for all the advice. Its a tough decision, but sometimes your budget limits you. I've been looking on kijiji and local ads for a used one, but haven't had much luck. If anyone knows about one in the North Bay area, PM me.

Great! I'd like that!

As you do, I would only be using it to position myself. I wouldn't actually troll with it. I have a 30HP Honda Tiller with electric start. I plan on keeping one batt for starting and for my fishfnder, and the other for my electric motor.

My objective: to equip my 16' Lund with an electric trolling motor. Transom Mount VS Bow Mount I've putting a lot of though behind this and with the amount of bass fishing I do, I think I might as well install a bow mount. At first I did not think I had enough of a casting deck (see image below) but it should be sufficient. Besides, I think I might make the deck larger this winter. Before even getting into the motor it self. I am going to need to modify the plate that its going to be mounted to. As well as get a different lighting system. Here's a photo of my bow to help get idea of what I have to work with. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Now onto the motor. I've had my eye on the Minn Kota Power Drive V2. I think I'll need at least a 55 lbs thrust with a 48" shaft. But my main questions were: Should I go 12 or 24 volt? Is 55 enough? What type of battery is best? Should I get an on board charger? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions from others who have done this before. I am not very familiar with electric motors and unsure of the type I should get to best suite my boat and my needs. Thanks

They prob. forgot to put in the plug... -
Recently I have been fishing sink worms, and texas rigged creature baits, and drop shots. They've all worked out very well for me.

Yup..lol I hit my partner in the back of the head once. Without even turning around...he says...that felt like a senko...lol
