  1. All lakes will produce fish. I've never stayed at any of the resorts your looking at but have passed by Southview on Rice many time from the water and it looks like a nice place. If you chose either Rice or Stoney you'll be close enough to Peterborough that if the kids are bored you can head to town and kill sometime. There's lots to do there, with the zoo(free), movies, canoe museum, and lots of park areas. Like Lew said the bass fishing doesn't open in the area till last week of June and no pike in the kawarthas but there are muskies to be caught. Good Luck with your choice.
  2. Great pics. Always nice to bring back the old memories. I got a scanner a few years back and over the winter I scanned all the old pics to computer. Now I get to see them more often and even better I have a digital copy of them on a disc stored at a friends place in case something ever happens here at the house. Nice way to ensure you'll always have a copy for the future.
  3. There were two places selling beer there that I noticed. Only by one of the pickles deli's and the other by the fish and chip place. Niether being great for a group to meet but the one by the deli being the better of the two. Now as for directions to either, I can't remember as the layout of the show is all over the place. So get a map and you'll find them.
  4. Great first report and fish. Your pics look great as well, the cams sure takes nice pics. Thanks Mike
  5. I had a great day there as well. There are lots of deals for those looking, I think the higher cdn dollar is help us out a bit. I sat in on a few seminars on turkey hunting and learned lots. Came home with the new navionics 2008 hot map and a couple nice muskies baits. The hunting area could use a few more vendors but the show has improved lots in the last couple years. Like Lew said park over at Ontario place and its free, just have to walk a few minutes to the show and save a few bucks.
  6. Well said, simple as that. Raf I was talking to Roy last night about the common sense thing, and too bad it's something we can't teach as some people will never get or have it.
  7. Too bad I'll miss you again Aaron, I'll be there for the opener on Wednesday. Too everyone else there on Wednesday I'll be watching for ya and hopefully I can find my OFC hat to wear.
  8. Hate to say it but ignorance of the law is no excuse. Don't people think to use a little common sense when driving and think of others safety or just worried about themselves and getting somewhere in a hurry. We do have ads in the paper and commercials have been run on TV. People just don't seem to get the idea?
  9. Where's the cash grab................ Follow the laws and you'll avoid the fine, no cash grab there. As a emergency responder that works on the busiest highway in North America the 401 stretch thru Toronto, I personally don't see a problem with this. Put yourself in our boots and try standing out there with cars flying by you at 70 mph and mirrors brushing you coat sleeves. I can post links to lots of videos on line of service personel being hit to help gain a little bit of respect for us if needed. Mike
  10. Thanks for the link to the site and will be nice to see the plane living on. I know what you mean Wayne. I have pics of all the planes I've flown in but this is my favorite shots before they flew us out.
  11. I agree, great show and nice that it's on a couple times throughout the week so I can catch every episode.
  12. Congrats to the guys on a great trip and some nice fish. Always nice to see those big-uns back swimming for the future. Thanks for the post.
  13. Good Luck everyone and have a safe day out there. Mike
  14. Good news to here she's recovering well and hopefully this will be the end of it. Make sure she gets lots of rest and give the area time to heal. Best wishes to her. Mike
  15. Hey Pete nice to see you jump in on this one. Any chance to ever see a lefty reel for us chosen few who have a hard time spinning the righties? Mike
  16. Thanks for the peek into spring Glen. Think I'll drive down myself and have a look this weekend. Mike
  17. That's good to hear. I wish her a speedy recovery. Mike
  18. The Grandmas are a great lure, your right very similar to the jake in style and both will catch fish. As for the reel I'm not sure how the low profile ones are but I do own the normal or round and it works well. That's actually the first time i've seen his reels in a low profile model.
  19. Great clip and good thing they don't keep a camera on me somedays or I'd be in it. Thanks for the link
  20. Great post Wayne. Nice to see the boys had another successful outing and some fish were caught. Congrats on the huge laker and it's release. Thanks for ther report. Mike
  21. Great job. That should do you well and nice having it covered to prevent it from loading up with snow along the way and thru the day. Good Luck with it
