  1. That pic is the most beautiful thing I've I've seen all day!
  2. It's stinkin' hot and getting hotter. Time for a new single by some obscure band called the Beach Boys. Have a wonderful and safe Canada Day weekend everybody, careful behind the wheel......
  3. That's pretty fair shake on that reel. Looks like ABU is clearing inventory ahead of bringing in the new Revos.
  4. Wow!
  5. Thanks! More of the same, only different, Brian! (Sorry for the ad that may appear first!)
  6. Mike, I've been down this road, and made some mistakes in the process, so what I have to offer is designed to help you find another job ASAP. - Get professional help with your resume. That person should help you quantify your accomplishments, as opposed to providing a laundry list of tasks and responsibilities. Especially in sales, that's really important. - Naturally, sign up to the major sites: Workopolis, Simply Hired, etc - See a headhunter. The sooner the better. (See above re resume). - As mentioned, use your network, hard. It's easier than negotiating what can be a painstaking process of applying online, but you have to do both. - Get out of the house while you're in search mode. Phone sales mangers of companies you want to work for, (make a list), and ask to buy them a coffee so you can introduce yourself, (in the case when you don't know the individual), or when you do know the individual, so you can talk about the prospect of finding a place in the firm, and failing that, get a referral from them. It's sales. I'm sure there's more, but I hope that helps a little bit. Good Luck, and stay positive. Chris
  7. For pike, I tie leaders with 40 lb Malin 7 strand that I get from Bass Pro. It's an uncoated wire, so it's reasonably fine. It's a cheap solution, you get to use your favourite swivels and snaps, (I like Berkley Easy Snaps). I haven't had a failure. For really big fish, I use 100 or 130 lb flouro, but don't tie those myself. For Bass, I have started using 20 lb flouro, and like that it doesn't kink, and it's really fast to tie.
  8. I threw my buddy's during pike opener weekend, Just to see what it was like. Neither he nor I have used it since. No, I didn't catch anything with it, I found it a bit of a pain to rig 4 baits on, and the other reason is that it doesn't exactly go away when not in use. It wanted to get tangled up with my other rods when laid down in the boat.
  9. lol, how 60s! But a pretty enduring design, I think.
  10. Um, do you have anything by Cragar, or maybe an old-school spoke look?
  11. I can't believe how excited I am. I'll have my 11 year-old with me, who loves to fish, and I've found two incredible-looking spots I've never fished before. Oh yes, there will be walkers! Not to derail the thread......
  12. Simcoe North MP Bruce Stanton, the meeting chairman, confirmed afterwards that the user fee concept was discussed and that the MPs will likely recommend the measure to the federal minister of environment later this summer. “There are a massive number of people who visit and live on the Trent-Severn Waterway from which there is currently no financial contribution,” he said. This "massive number" of people don't pay taxes on fuel, or contribute to the gov't's coffers from the registration of their boats, or pay land or income taxes?
  13. It most certainly is. That's pretty cool to see!
  14. Great report, and fabulous photography, Joey, great work!
  15. Subject to the time of day, topwater and jerkbaits will be my preferred lures to throw. If that's not happening, I'll get the fluke-type baits out.
  16. Those are some pretty fish, guys!
  17. That was a pretty aggressive hook set, Roy!
  18. Indeed, it changes for me with the lure I'm using. For cranks/ jerkbaits and most top waters, I'm actually pretty mellow, but that said, I often work jerkbaits pretty hard. With senkos, after I'm satisfied the fish has taken the bait for good, I put more into it, probably an 8 or so. Live minnows which I use in the fall, it 's bow the rod then drive 'er home.
  19. Back up to the Moon. Got my spots picked out!
  20. Here for sure; a couple of other forums, and myoutdoortv, as well.
  21. Feed it till fall, then hook it up to a quick-strike rig!
  22. The old still looked pretty good!
