  1. That's normal. You'll find that you simply organize for the trip over, and the boat ride is a real separation between city mindset and cottage mindset. For certain, it's not for everyone, but people who like it, really like it. In terms of the water temps, I think the coldest water I've ever swum in was up in Tobermory, if memory serves. However, in the Archipelago, south of Parry Sound, you'll find the water warmer than the Muskoka Lakes or Lake of Bays. I've never understood why, because there is deep water everywhere. Temperatures depend on where you are on the Bay...
  2. I have a substantial bias towards Georgian Bay, because I landscape so beautiful. Have you considered a cottage on an island?
  3. Thanks, All the Best! I have to troll myself, it just seems more efficient, but don't happen to vary the pound test. I don't have to deal with any current to speak of, though.
  4. Paul, that's interesting. I think the bigger stress occurs on casting the heavier lures. What's your thinking on the heavier test for trolling? Thanks, Chris
  5. My boys are 11 and 14, and for sure, plugged in when they're home. Up north, I'm lucky that they like to fish and be in the water. After dinner, there's usually a fire outside in the pit, but if not, like this year, I don't mind them watching a dvd at night at all, puts them right to sleep. That said, kudos for you guys who push the education aspect. Good ideas.
  6. I consider seeing the Northern lights to be a birthright of all Canadians. a wondrous and beautiful thing, for sure.
  7. hmmmmm.... Nice vantage point for taking out ground hogs or 'yotes.....
  8. Another vote for 80 lb, happen to have PP on my reels. I don't like losing muskie lures: they're expensive........
  9. Partridge hunting when I was a teenager. It was late in the day, and late in the season: snowing lightly, great big flakes. There wasn't a sound, even as I moved through the cedars. I happened to look up, and just above the treetops, right above me, a Snowy Owl glided by, silent against the grey sky. I haven't seen one since, and remember it like it was yesterday.
  10. PS, I'm Chris, and you'll find me browsing the delete bins in the music section.....
  11. Thanks for introducing yourself, Spincast. Your mentor G-Man, of course, needs no introduction!

  13. Happy Birthday, indeed! Hope you can spend some quality time on Lac St. Louis in celebration!
  14. Got out to see the Black Keys last night. This vid is from the night before, (not mine, lol).
  15. -Congrats to Dave! Huge commitment and a ton of hard work!
  16. Congrats! Will you be closer to Healey Lake Road, or Twelve Mile for big fish?
  17. Makes sense! Still unreal that they can do that, with the pressure and all. Doesn't make me like them anymore than I did!
  18. Gosh, they don't get the bends by doing that?
  19. That is one great report. What an all-star bunch MH put together for you, and congrats on your PB!
  20. Hey Brian, thanks for the CCR! There seems to be a bit of a full-concert thing going on. If you like, you can settle into an ear's full of My Morning Jacket here: The concert film was a bit of a concept thing, so just go along with the intro.....
  21. Great report, and great tent, you know how to camp in style! What effect did you use in pic 15, the one of the pike? It's an interesting look....
