I love to fish with my son. however there is something so amazing about going out on the water at 5am as the sun comes up just by myself or with my dog Cheers!

I posted before about a new puppy coming soon. We finally picked her up last wed. She is a sweet Mini Golden Doodle. Her name is Whiskey. My other dog loves her. She has been sleeping well (just woke up to go pee 3am) but other then that she has slept through the night since Wed. She is crate trained already and knows basics commands like sit and come already. Smart girl! We can't wait to get her out on the water in May! Cheers! IMG_1297.m4v IMG_1297.m4v

When I was a kid I used to fish Bronte and 16 mile in oakville on the ice all the time. (check regs I think bronte to Rebecca bridge may be a sanctuary now). We used to catch rock bass and perch through the ice all the time and the odd pike was thrown in as well. 16 mile is a little tougher because the water comes in pretty heavy though the piers so it doesn't freeze well unless you get back toward lakeshore bridge. I have seen people ice fishing there before but not sure If they caught anything. We used to fish the pier with minnows or spoons and catch trout in feb in open water. Again that was years ago but not sure if the regs have changed or if the fishing has changed. Would love to see a report tho! Cheers!

I have winter camped up in the Halliburton area. We found a huge rock (about 10feet high) Set up camp beside it started a fire and almost had to move it got so hot with the heat from the fire radiating against the rock. So much so that when I woke up in the morning (6 hours of sleep) the fire was out but the rock was still warm to touch. Another good tip is to put a bunch of rocks close to the fire then use them as your own little heaters you can tuck into your sleeping bag to help you stay warm. If you rotate them out you will always have hot rocks. Not quite like the spa but for a night it will do! You are doing it right tho. Be close to the highway and having cell service is the way to go in case something happens. I would also tell multiple people that your going and where just in case. If you stay warm and dry you will have an experience you can tell the grandkids about. Good Luck! Cheers!

Well we made the choice to add to our family and we have this little girl coming to us Dec 20th. She is a mini Golden doodle (red coat) We also have a 5 year Golden Retriever (autumn) who will love the little pup and help train her to be as good a dog as she is. (hopefully) We have decided on the name Whiskey. My 11 year old son and I can't wait to get our new fishing buddy out on the water with us! Cheers!

super cool but I have never caught a fish going faster then a few miles per hour so I ill pass and take a new Lund with a decent trolling motor. But still wild to see what people will spend there money on. Cheers!

I haven't actually posted a topic on here in ages. I still take the time to check in from time to time to see whats going on and who's catching what We are lucky enough to spend most of the summer up in the North East Parry sound area. My son was actually home only a few days all summer so he was out fishing and exploring like kids should be doing at that age. 11 years old. This truly is our happy place. My wife, son, dog and friends have a ton of fun up here and the fishing is usually pretty good! Lets start by opening weekend and the water being 49F but the kids don't care they went swimming anyway. Yes I did too and yep 49F is damn cold. This is Autumn. She is crazy about her ball and swims all day long as someone is there to chuck it for her. Fishing in the spring was decent but the bugs this year were as bad as I have ever seen them. That being said we got into a school of half dozen monster crappy. The biggest being almost 2 lbs As the water warmed up fishing got a bit tough other then the OOS bass. We did mange a few walleye but not as many as last year. My son Carter with a pretty good one. Once the summer came it was time for a lot of these (pitchers of rye and ginger) and coors lights kept me off the water a lot. I did try to get out almost everyday before the juice started to flow. With the warmer water and bass season opening it was quite the first couple weeks of bass season. I started up in Temagami and smashed bass after bass. I actually limited out in the first half hour one day and then the next day I had 4 fish over 4lbs. None under 2lbs and probably got into a dozen or so. Carter with his biggest bass of the year 4.5lbs. ( Note on the life jacket. I let him take it off when the boat is not moving) Back to parry sound and the fishing was great. My wife Shannon with a nice largie with Autumn looking on. , I got into some decent fish this year too. Autumn swam a ton. hours everyday and then pretty much did this the rest of the time. Carter is known as the fish whisperer around here and he suggested that if he needs to live up to that name he should learn how to clean fish too. This was a proud day for me! Here are some random pics with friends and family from the summer. More fishing pics. My best Friend Luisa really started catching fish this year and out fished me sometimes too. Some scenery shots and more fish pictures. The way we ended most days is by the fire cooking smores having a few pops off to bed early so we can hit the early bite. That was pretty well it. I should have taking way more picture then I did. I should have drank way less booze then I did. I should have ate way less ice cream then I did but oh well it was a great year and can't wait till May for opening weekend!!!
