From what I remember, we used to hook them up while they were still linked in tandem. Can't remember if they charged in tandem or not. But either way it shouldn't cause any damage.
(I say we used to cuz I only got the one battery now)
You attach the clips to the "metal posts" .. it doesn't matter which you connect first. I personally prefer to plug in the charger AFTER connecting it to the battery though.
Just came into possession of a bucket of Gulp Alive! Gobies my parents grabbed for me while they were at Cabelas last week. Pretty cool lookin' things. Not that I'm sure they won't catch a ton of Erie smallies, has anyone here used them/had success with them yet? Definitely looks like a killer dropshot bait.
You seriously just compared Pflueger to Shimano with Pflueger being the higher quality in your opinion?
Pflueger President about $220 (a few yrs ago).. lasted me 3 months. Plastic gears wore out.
Was lacking money, so replaced it with a Shimano Callisto. 4 years later the Callisto's still casting. I'll admit it took some maintenance - I oiled it once. lol
Good stuff. I can imagine how much of a field day they had on Byng Island. I was there once and as a guy is filleting a sheephead and cooking another one on the fire.. he turns to me and asks "what kind of fish is this?"
You can expect 1lb bass, and some pike. lol
Anywhere that looks like good largemouth habitat holds largemouth.
For smallies the north channel, Bluff's Bar and the shoals off Nanticoke, Dover and Ryerse hold fish.
I always say I'm going to get into it.. then think of the time, energy and money sunk into another hobby. Just can't do it. "Why hunt when you can fish?" is the question that always pops into my head.
Good job.
Will it dive with the wooden bill? I used to whittle topwater baits out of pine when I was at the cottage in my downtime. The flatfish imitations always did well for us.
My only suggestion is putting a couple of hooks on, for counter-balance purposes and also just to hook more fish.
You're in a decent area, full of spots to fish. I don't know it very well personally so I can't offer any specific spots.. but I think if I was that close to the Niagara River I probably wouldn't fish too many other spots.
Good read. It sounds like you really enjoyed yourself in that area. I agree about Fenelon Falls being a nice little town. Been visiting every year since I was just a little brat. I'm glad you had a good time there. My grandfather's cottage there is my paradise.
Pike will hit topwater baits, of course. That being said, I've never come across one while topwater fishing for smallmouth. Only topwater pike I get seem to be in or near the slop for largemouth.
Nice!
That's a little bigger than the one in your earlier picture that you caught isn't it? Tell the truth.. she was using the pike you catch as bait right?
