  1. Always did best from about 6pm til dark. However my biggest Grand bass have always been caught during mid-day.
  2. Good stuff mang! I'm glad to see some others are having fun catching sheephead, I love catching them. I have no idea why anyone would complain about catching one. Fight just as hard as any bass of similar size.

    Bobbers?

If you're using big live bait for big bass the red/white is the way to go, or better yet tie a slightly inflated balloon on the line. It all depends on how light the bait is you're fishing and where you're fishing it. Like others have said though, the general rule is use the smallest float possible for the job for maximum sensitivity.
  4. On opener only bass we caught were in 3-4 ft of water.. came out feeling like they were in a hot tub. Water was over 80 degrees. They hit buzzbaits and spinnerbaits.
  5. Hmm.. dad always told me they were, just believed him. lol Either way, the meat inside is identical in both fish
  6. Awesome stuff! I'm jealous! I'd trade a day of this trout Bull for a day of that any time.. lol
  7. They are relatives of white bass, so the freezing makes sense. White bass are best consumed fresh for the same reason.
  8. Headed down to a couple of different spots yesterday evening with the girlfriend in search of these brown trout which litter the river. Yesterday turned out to be one of the slower days where I wished I had brought some worms to keep the interest. But we managed a few fish tossing spinners and crappie tubes around in various spots. Last trout was on a 3 1/4" jerkbait. "I will eat your heart" Fish On! 'Eh that's no trout Blue Fox smashing bugle trout Young fish love WGSF!!!!! Vantage point for WGSF hunting Last trout of the day Lo and behold, we went back to that spot from the other day and it was just full of fishermen. What a coincidence after my report was up that suddenly trout fishermen show up at a spot that's usually empty. I don't mind people fishing spots I reported about but sheesh, some acknowledgement wouldn't hurt. Like "Hey Rich, how are ya?" Poor antisocial lurkers. lol
  9. The river is loaded with smallies anywhere above Dunnville. Spinners, small jerkbaits, grubs, tubes... will all work.
  10. I've tried it a handful of times.. there just aren't a lot of largies there. But there are some.. even decent ones. Don't be fooled by the reeds.. the cuts and boat canals are the best bet.
  11. Ugly Stik Lite! I can afford the premium rods, but have pretty much switched over to all Ugly Stik Lite. Durable and sensitive!
  12. Yeah, I'd say Hamilton Harbour is one of the most shore accessible places in southern Ontario. Tons of access points and fish to be caught.
  13. Dang that's good fish porn! Nice work!
  14. But it's no KAWARTHA DAIRY
  15. The majority of my pictures are posted on there.. no PG 13 restrictions and no worries about lurkers, lol.
  16. Live 6 inch chub minnows
  17. The browns are stacked everywhere. We just went to that spot because it's easily accessible. There are actually a lot of better spots just down river.
  18. Headed out with the gf and her nephew for some local trout today. Though I connected with a small rainbow right off the bat things were slow on the trout scene. The others gave up and switched to carp fishing but I continued casting a spinner just to keep my interest. lol Suddenly SMACK and I connect with one of the more decent browns from this spot this year. After a little longer chasing trout my buddy Travis decided he wanted to fish for the first time in a couple years so we all headed out to Area 51 in search of some pond bass. Travis and I both connected with a couple little guys. Things at Area 51 were slower than ever however and these were the only interest points. That and watching the snapping turtles snap at sunfish. Should have stuck with the trout fishing I suppose, but either way it was a great evening to be out. Thanks all for the good times!
  19. I understand why the show exists... I just find it boring as hell
  20. Awesome!
  21. Closest to Bait Island is Old Cut inside the inner bay. From outer bay there is Turkey Point marina. I'd suggest going the Old Cut route.
  22. Pike were introduced about 10 years ago, but as far as I know and have known there have never been musky there. Good laker, smallmouth, largemouth and now pike fishing though.
  23. I think I throw buzzbaits more than I throw any other lure. Occasionally a spook or a popper get tied on my line, but very rarely. If I'm fishing shallow, I know I can slam bass on a buzzbait. Everyone has their preferences. I used to really like Jitterbugs too.
  24. Chuck Norris' recent fishing trip results.
  25. There are no free ramps left on LPB. Pick a marina... if you're lucky some of the smaller ones still "only" charge $10
