  1. Yea, I think the location has a lot to do with it too for some reason. Maybe to do with PH levels, clarity, who knows. I know when I fish Cameron for bass it's pretty hard to beat a chartreuse/white skirt. Plain chartreuse, plain white catch fish.. but chart/white will outfish them like 5 - 1 most days. Use chartreuse/white down here and you'll get a couple fish.. but plain white is definitely tops. For bass anyway. Pike fishing's a whole different game.
  2. lol well happy belated to ya, decent cake. Betcha ate the cheeks first? lol
  3. White is popular, yes. It simulates pretty much the majority of baitfish found in most waterbodies so no doubt it's gonna get smashed. That being said, there is no spinnerbait color I've ever purchased that didn't catch fish. Chartreuse has it's days.
  4. I use a 10lb mushroom for my 14 footer, works just fine. In the past I used a Javex Bottle filled with sand, tied a rope to the handle and was good to go. I only did this on small bodies of water though and don't recommend it as a main source of anchor on larger bodies of water.
  5. Toss the largest bait your equipment will allow you to toss.. which unfortunately isn't much but should work for a Mepps Musky Killer or other small bucktails. Big suspending jerkbaits are a good bet too.
  6. Well it looks like a decent trip... a couple PB's for ya anyway! Good stuff, thanks for sharing the experience!
  7. My dad's got display cases of both antique lures and antique fishing reels. I will take a pic and share it next time I'm at his place.

Well since the only pics of me pretty much are fishing pics it doesn't bother me too much cuz they're already all over the internet, lol
  9. Good job to you & your Mrs! Looks like a great day out.
  10. lol Fishnwire! It is indeed reeling your bait just under the surface to create a wake. Doesn't necessarily have to be a fast retrieve, keep your rod tip up and begin reeling the split second the bait hits the water and you can pull it off a little slower. Also a good technique for hard baits.. jointed Rapala J9 or J11 reeled in that way is pretty tough to beat for big old bass, pike, & musky!
  11. As far as I know, the seafood departments in every Loblaws store (Fortinos, No Frills, Zehrs, Superstore) carry bags of frozen smelt.
  12. I keep mine leaning up against the side of the house. Barely takes any space up.
  13. I alternate between Boo-Ya and Terminator spinnerbaits. Boo-Yas are nice but hard to find larger ones. Not to mention a couple of pike and they're toast. However they do have very well plated blades and detailed skirts.. they catch a lot of fish. If I know I'm in a place (ie Long Point Bay) where I'm gonna be nailing a bunch of 12 inch bass all day, I'll opt for the Terminator because I know it won't fall apart.
  14. It could be a hunting territory type deal. Perch have found a viable feeding ground and attack your lure thinking it's another fish moving in on their dinner.
  15. They don't build 'em like they used to!
  16. You were trolling with a bow mount electric? Interesting idea to make it work.. but wasn't it too slow?
  17. What we use on the piers 'round here is a pickerel rig with 2 live minnows. Seems to always nail the perch (and ya never know what else). For some reason I have a memory of going to Bronte pier and doing this a couple times as well, and getting a bunch of big perch.
  18. Good job man! I got hooked on scum frogs a couple years back.. haven't used one this year at all I don't think. Guess I better bust it out next time I'm bassin!
  19. I watched 7 seasons of Smallville last couple months. Gotta say at first I found it cheesy but it really sucked me in the further I went.
  20. Yummy garlic scented candles.. you could make some money selling to those who are afraid of vampire attacks!
  21. Good stuff!
  22. I have probably the same motor at home. After sitting in a garage for 16 years I filled it up and it started in 3 pulls. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You'll be charged an arm and a leg for a guy to start your motor in a bucket of water.
  23. Spinners are versatile lures with the ability to catch anything that swims. Classic. I've caught panfish, bass, crappies, pike, musky, lots of trout, salmon, even carp & sheephead on them. If you're gonna throw it for a while, put a decent barrel swivel about 12 inches up the line.
  24. Does nobody get decent perch from the mouth area there?
