I've had the same tinny for 20 years. Passed from my grandpa, to my dad, to me. There's virtually NO upkeep whatsoever. Drain the fuel outta your outboard every winter (if kept outside) and replace spark plugs in spring. Minor trailer maintenance as well.. Maybe 50 bucks a year on a bad year. Totally worth it. The 30 footer would only be useful if you docked it and used it like a cottage. Which in itself would set you back a lotta moolah. And you'd still need the "dinghy" to fish.

I am spoiled to have suckers and chub minnows to 12" in the creek out back year round! Lol. Ill ship you a bag of frozen ones? Lol... Maybe sardines from the grocery store? They sure work for big cold water pike..

When you watch the opening day coolers every year its obvious there is one major factor bringing the bass sizes down..

All i know is, ive seen pike ponds get robbed of trophies for two seasons.. and never saw another trophy for the following 7 years. Oh and long point bay is the biggest most obvious example of trophy fish breeding trophy fish, as 5+ bass simply dont exist there anymore when 7 pounders used to be a common thing a few times a season out there.

How far south is the safe ice? Would love to get on the ice earlier with a trip to the haliburtons..

That no ice fishing policy is what keeps a pike population there the rest of the year. However there a lot of small lakes and reservoirs on that area with relatively good ice fishing.

I started because my dad and grandfather told me a cigarette was the only way to celebrate a big fish. And the guys on tv were wrong of course, smoking was harmless. True story. But lots of people do things that dont make any sense. Its called human error. I dont understand why alcohol is a legal drug, or why people willingly consume it.. but there are new alcoholics everyday. Im just glad i wont repeat the cycle of my dads side of the family, smoking for 30 years then dropping of a heart attack.

No, its just a deep cycle. The gel versions were much more expensive. I have 3 different 12v chargers for my boat batteries so i didnt want to opt for something that had a whole new charger. The plug-in ones with the cabelas batteries will overcharge if left on too long.

You cannot catch fish without a flasher.
