  1. 58 F here in Grimsby at 6 am, blowing pretty good when I let the dog out. edit; yesterday the fog never lifted at my place by the lake, was actually worse in the afternoon than morning
  2. Friend of my wife says her cherry tree is opening some blossoms in Pennsylvania, that's not a good thing for fruit growers.
  3. Loblaws/ Superstore here in town has a "Refuel" gas bar that advertises up to 4 cents a litre in grocery credits, everybody has to eat.
  4. I bought a snow blower when I retired in 2008, probably used it a dozen or so times, on the other hand the grass is green and grows all summer now.
  5. When it first came out in the 50's you got 5% of the purchase price in CTC money , some stores in Quebec mostly I recall were 3%. Now it is maybe a tenth of that.
  6. got ya beat, 50 here in the fruitbelt.
  7. Same here, tried it yesterday when Pump posted, broke. It did work a week ago , JP De Rose was at some trade show making the rounds of a bunch of con artists.
  8. I never drank the basement brew from the bottle but had a row of heavy glass mugs in the freezer door, pouring carefully to leave the trace of yeast from the carbonating sugar in the bottle.
  9. The Minnow Shot
  10. Think that was on the QEW just west of Jordan Harbour, at the abandoned Prudomme's complex.
  11. works on this thread, well done https://soundcloud.com/guy-annable/the-day-ontario-died
  12. I learned as a grunt labourer helping dad lift 12 gal carboys when he was racking and bottling his wine. Never did wine on my own but did beer for quite a few years. Always used the Brew Canada Kits and had a 12 gal primary fermenter, that would be 2 kits as a single batch. As I recall I would do 5-7 days in the primary fermenter and then rack it off into 2 X 23 litre carboys for 2-3 weeks before bottling. Some guys did not do the 2 stage beer making, I much preferred my beer to theirs.
  13. Maybe I'm different, been drinking and doing cannabis occasionally since the late 60's. I hate to say how many times I was behind the wheel with a skinfull of booze back then , drinking you are kinda 7 feet tall and bulletproof doing stupid crap, but with marijuana I only recall trying to drive once, it was horrible cause I was so paranoid I was slowing down for stop signs way ahead of what a normal person would, driving a couple mph below the limit so as to not get stopped, never did it again. In marijuana defense you don't have the " hold my joint and watch this " crazy attitude.
  14. I googled it, Canadian Border officers have had sidearms since 2007, not a long time from an older guy's perspective
  15. I started to think the stint with the Marlies did Bernier some good , then the wheels fell off that cart
  16. My experience has been bigger water = bigger fish. Fishing the Niagara River all winter you will see a number of mid teen fish with the occasional bigger one, then while fishing the Ganny or the Credit in the spring you get good numbers of cookie cutter 5 pounders. Same Lake.
  17. Haven't been over in years but I think they got sidearms a few years ago.
  18. CO's actually have more power to search than police, at least they did at one time. I've seen them work in pairs quite some time ago. When I waterfowled and lived at Long Point , the RCMP were the sticklers on the waterfowl regs.
  19. I only switched to roe when steelheading in the fall when I couldn't get nightcrawlers anymore, often a first drift on a hole produced on pressured fish that had seen a steady progression of spawn sacks all day.
  20. It is really amazing how far the Liberals have moved from classic liberalism where freedom of the individual was paramount and laissez faire was the rule in the marketplace. Today they are control freaks wanting to regulate everything under the sun and tell us how we should think with all the political correctness.
  21. They have these " U Brew Its" and places where you can make your own wine on site, I see green house " U Grow Its " starting up, the precedent is there, how would it be any different ?? all the controls and taxation is just going keep it as an underground economy and the legal outlets will only get a portion of the market just like cigarettes.
  22. Beer is available starting today in select grocery stores in Toronto, if grocery stores can sell beer and do the required age checks etc. there is no reason marijuana needs to be sold at only the LCBO or dedicated licensed dispensaries, even convenience marts selling cigarettes should be able to sell, anyone that can legally buy smokes could legally buy marijuana , I just don't get all the extra security measures over theses already existing products.
  23. Watching channel 2 out of Buffalo this morning, Lake Erie water temp is 48 and Lake Ontario is 46.
  24. I use a uni knot snell for line to hook on all my steelhead hooks which are all up eye though. Improved clinch for all other connections. I really feel the snell on the shank improves success as opposed to tying to the eye on up eyes.
