  1. I remember seeing it finally closed after 140 years earlier this spring, Boston Pizza is interested in the space, welcome to the new freaking Canada http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/brunswick-house-closing-down-after-140-years-1.2801475
  2. my bad then, I thought JVR going to number 25 from Salming's old number 21 which he was wearing meant they were retired.
  3. I think they are going overboard on this number retiring. Hell, growing up your number one goalie was number 1 and your backup was 29 or 30 maybe 31 and everyone else had a number from 2 to 28. Half the traditional numbers from the original six days are retired now on the Leafs edit; think this football number trend started with that Gretzky kid
  4. I lived not far from the Brunswick House when going to U of T, drank cheap in the men's room downstairs but occasionally upstairs with the " Climax Jazz Band " the house band in the early 70's, ladies and escorts were welcome there.
  5. I vote for the party and the direction that they have headed on different subjects in the past, but the waters on that have been muddied lately with attempts to get votes. Either way they are going to be a bunch of party faithful holding their noses and voting for their candidate. If the Republicans had come up with a less controversial candidate I believe they could have won handily over Hillary, Obama was bad enough , Hillary is more of the same and even worse with more baggage.
  6. For sure, the Canadian Wiggler runs 12 foot plus while the Flatfish does run shallower, but I've caught way more pickeral off the wiggler than a flatfish/quikfish, including a bunch of Erie fish off down riggers on the 5 of diamonds, firetiger and green/ chartreuse half and half.
  7. Went to U of T in 69. My residence on campus was $328 for the year with no meals, we bought meal tickets for a nice dinner at the Great Hall across the road at Hart House for 6 bucks for 5 dinner tickets. Tuition was 5 something for 1st year Forestry and books were about 200 for all your texts. You were fine if you went with 2 grand for the year with even some spending money left over for entertainment. Beer was $4.95 for a 24 including deposit and cheap whisky like Walker's Special Old was $4.80, and cheap wine for sports events was $1.05, wineskins were a must for football and hockey games, living a 5 minute walk from Varsity Stadium and Varsity arena, we hit most of them as a group from the residence. The cost of a university education today
  8. If the situation involves casting any distance I tie on a Canadian Wiggler.
  9. I would catch some off the dock in shallow in the evening on Thanksgiving weekend when cottaging on Haliburton, never during the summer. I always understood that they would come shallow in the fall when the frogs migrate to the lakes to hibernate.
  10. Yeah but up there you run them 10 months of the year
  11. We get calls monthly from both Cerebral Palsy and the Diabetes associations saying they will have a truck in the neighbourhood on a certain day and ask if we have used clothing or furniture , maybe give them a try.
  12. If that 200 is an heavy 4 stroke you could replace it with a 200 2 stroke and get the equivalent of a 25 horsepower boost in performance
  13. You are overthinking this, going to make your head hurt
  14. My recollection was the summer of 71, summer job as a Forestry student at U of T, there was a bunch in the headwaters of the Pefferlaw River and Baltimore Creek that summer as well. Loved that summer.
  15. Years ago did some woodlot survey work for the Dept of Lands and Forest, ( that's how long ago it was ) There was a good population of brookies in the Humber upstream from Bolton at that time.
  16. maybe some seafoam will get it going, it fixes everything.
  17. We lost Jimi on Sept 18 and then Janis today , back in 1970, this year has been a bad one too.
  18. You can't find a band with more vocal ability than these guys, a throw back to bands like the Eagles, Byrds and The Band, every time the fella with the beard and orange hat sings I can't help but vision a young Levon Helm.
  19. I really wasn't impressed by Price in the post season last year.
  20. I didn't get married until a few months shy of my 50th birthday, amazing how many things I'd been doing all my life that I was doing wrong
  21. The gov't launch that was on our lake always had signs " NO CAMPING ".
  22. Cabelas went more mainstream / big box in the last 20 years but oldtimers associate the Cabelas brand with quality hunting and outfitting gear and clothing, it would be much the same as BPS buying out Orvis , they wouldn't want to bring the quality that the name implies and market those products under the BPS brand.
  23. They should have stuck with the guide/ outfitter type hunting gear , firearms, hunting clothing and of course the better quality fly fishing equipment they made their name on years ago. Going head to head with Bass Pro with the high volume , mass market, budget type fishing gear was their downfall.
  24. got any Ping-a-Tees ? those things were the best
  25. Even if they still get the wildcard they don't play like a team going anywhere.
