  1. yikes, glad I got the old school 2hi-4hi-N-4lo shifter ahead of the emergency brake on the Jeep console.
  2. Bunch of us would fly fish a very similar fish, Mooneyes , in the Grand River, think June was the hot month. They were pretty sporting on light fly gear , never ate any, but I understand they are called Goldeneyes out in Manitoba and they smoke them. I have seen Gizzard Shad in the Niagara River, occasionally they die off due to rapid temperature change just like Alewives.
  3. Congrats Cubs, best baseball game I've watched in a long time

  4. Controlled hunter numbers, apply in a lottery in August for a tag, usually more applications than tags for most zones.
  5. Antenna - Live programming , the wife and I could not go back watching our shows live except for news and sports. With health issues we watch a lot and tend to binge watch , like she will see a series that looks interesting and we will watch a couple of seasons worth of it over a few days. even the current shows we let then build for a few weeks before catching up.
  6. 74F here today, haven't had a frost yet, leaves in my yard are still green on the willow, some silver maple are down, not many, have to cut the lawn tomorrow.
  7. Do you have a dated laptop around? We upgraded my wife's laptop during the boxing week sales and the old one is our " Box " with a wireless mouse as the remote. HDMI cable to the TV and I suggest using a hardwired connection to your modem/router rather than wifi, that did clear up most of the buffering issues we had. If you are willing to install and research the available addons you can usually get most local stations for news and find all the SNet and TSN sports channels, one stream that works this week might not work next week. Having a Windows based computer permanently hooked to the bigscreen has other advantages too.
  8. In the 70's the original split tail Beetle Spins were made by Johnson.
  9. TSC , Tractor Supply Company , has lots of electric, kerosene and propane heaters and smaller wood/pellet/corn burning stoves for heating rooms in a barn or small outbuilding workshops.
  10. Dad had a 14 foor Mirrocraft cartopper we used to throw on the roof racks on a 64 Pontiac wagon that went pretty good with a 9 1/2 Johnson. I can't remember the last time I saw a 14 foot tinner on the roof of a car
  11. The 59 had regular turn signals but mom had a 52 I think it was that had the flip out arms in door jam . I understand it rains on a daily basis in England but those cars were the worst in wet weather and lord help you if you hit a good sized puddle at an speed , the engine would promptly die. Edit: pretty sure the 52 was an A30 looking at pictures on google.
  12. First car I remember was similar, Dad had a maroon 52 Pontiac , the original fastback with the same visor, believe we drove that till he bought an A55 Austin Cambridge in 59, got my licence in the Austin.
  13. Montreal, I see on the scrolling bar across the CHCH news this morning is the only NHL team without a regular time loss, guess Carey is back.
  14. Hope you were TO bound coming down the skyway in that Bug, in 69 there was still a toll plaza on the Hamilton side. Also had a scary moment with the front end of the Bug, hit a set of tracks at about 50 and had the steering damper go, massive wobble in the front end till i got slowed down and stopped.
  15. My 68 VW Beetle could hit 75 after a few miles on the 401 with the pedal flat to the floor. Replaced it with a 76 VW Rabbit, the Rabbit was quicker and actually got better gas mileage too.
  16. Most of this stuff has to accumulate over years to cause any problems, a single fish or two is not going to harm you. At our age I doubt we have enough years left that it would get us before some other health issue does, but I wouldn't give my grandkids Hamilton Harbour fish on a regular basis.
  17. Probably no worse then the fish from Grassy Narrows
  18. I guarded my southern Ontario hunting spots, mainly cause of the effort to get permission from the landowner and didn't want any loogans coming in and wrecking it for me. I'll share fishing spots over the radio for here today gone tomorrow suspended fish like Lake Ontario salmonoides or Erie Pickeral and perch, that mid lake hump that always produces on a smaller inland lake I'll take to the grave. I suspect most operate in a similar fashion,
  19. Not any different than a voter in rural southern Ontario and one from the GTA or other metropolitan area
  20. Exactly, vote for the party that best represents your point of view, just have to hold your nose a lot tighter in the US this election. My wife is a US citizen , I don't talk politics at home
  21. Let the dogs out at 6:30 this morning, 65 F WTH

    1. davey buoy

      davey buoy

Who let the dogs out lol, beauty morning, enjoy.

  22. Worked in a mill on Lake down by the QEW, grabbed a few quick ones at the "Day and Nite" and the Alpine after a 3--11 shift more than once back in the 70's. The Pines was a more upscale place.
  23. Did you ever get to the Old Victory Burlesque theatre on Spadina down by Chinatown? Was there for the tail end of the hippie Yorkville Ave, the Mynah Bird and the Riverboat coffee houses were still going, friend had a flat above the original Mr Sub there, great entertainment to watch the crowds from his window on a weekend before Yorkville became a yuppie boutique haven. edit: another classmate stayed in Rochdale , lot of strange goings on there in the early 70's
