  1. A lot of fall run fish actually overwinter and spawn in early spring, they are where you find them, you need to put boots on the ground. With this downpour of a few days ago they could be way upstream.
  2. Nice, I always found a more stealthy approach would catch more Browns, planer boards or further back than 50 feet if behind the boat when flatlining or rigging in shallower water.
  3. Those squids bring me back to the days on Lake O when Cohos were king, red Luhr Jensen Dodger with a blue Jonsfly 18'' back ...ten feet back of the ball , 20 foot down out in what they now refer to as the Blue Zone back about 1980.
  4. I've heard of preserving minnows and cut bait using laundry blueing, the blue windshield washer fluid probably gives the same colour.

You still need the Outdoor's card to purchase your hunting licenses so the guys that only fish get the break.
  6. Love fried cabbage, Pretty much this recipe, usually sub Italian Sausage for bacon and Balsamic for vinegar http://allrecipes.com/recipe/23685/fried-cabbage-ii/?internalSource=similar_recipe_banner&referringId=73833&referringContentType=recipe&clickId=simslot_2
  7. You fellas have good memories, I thought I could recycle it for April 1st
  8. just saw this , should it have been allowed ?
  9. Nice, and another, this is a beautiful specimen Ontario needs to get some Seeforellen strain fish. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10210507470101052&set=a.2808028797904.2131302.1174207024&type=3&theater edit: sorry that showed up yesterday on my facebook, thought it was a current picture , sorry it is an older pic .
  10. I'm OK with this and the fines http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/other/police-seize-drone-interfering-with-helicopter-ambulance-flight-path/ar-BBz3Igm?li=AAggFp5
  11. I do all the grocery shopping for my wife and I, actually I don't find the regular price on items all that good at Walmart, sale prices OK but generally the regular price at Food Basics is better. Stocked up on sirloin tip roasts at Basics this week, cut up into stew meat and strips for stir fry and vacuum sealed, $3.49 a pound beats stewing beef at $6/7 a pound.
  12. Refills on 20 lb propane cylinders are sweet, all we have in town are the tank exchange depots at about 25 bucks a pop, lost our refill station when they changed the regs for dispensing and the station tore out the bulk tank, last time I refilled at Costco was less than half of that. I use the executive card that you get a cheque every Feb based on how much you spend, buy all my electronics there because of the return policy and extended warranty, so it adds up.
  13. Cliff, you have to make allowances for " The budget will balance itself " generation. I recently got a 2x2 lb cans of coffee free, marked $10.99 in the aisle and 8.99 in a display at the checkout I was at, came in at 10.99 at the register, thank you Food Basics and I don't feel guilty at all. Always liked the " Honey, start the car " commercial think it was Ikea .
  14. My independent study from going to U of T 69 to 74 , when Yorkville was still a street of hippies and Roachdale College was still going strong , I'd say unequivocably that pot use was higher then. If the stuff back then was anywhere near the strength of the stuff today though you might have seen more negatives from it's use, while still the same plant you are comparing apples and oranges.
  15. Yeah, wish it was mine.
  16. New motor on a older, deep, quality hull, I wouldn't hesitate to venture offshore on Lake Ontario or Erie with this one http://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motorboat/city-of-toronto/1998-fishmaster-190/1249680216?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
  17. There's a few slob browns west, I've lived a 5 minute walk from this pier for 33 years and chucked thousands of Cleos and Krocs off it, but this fish of a few years ago beat my personal best by a good margin, you don't even need a boat
  18. The troots have started https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10209260675415193&set=gm.1439562972731857&type=3&theater
  19. I always liked using those clear oven bags for venison and other very lean game meats.
  20. Sounds like a similar situation to the firearms laws of the past 40 years in Canada, just be thankful it is not a criminal offence to be found in contravention of the regs.
  21. I believe if you hunt after the age of 65 you will still need the card, fishing, you are good to go without as long as you have ID for your age.
  22. It's just like Tohatsu making a lot of the small outboards that are rebranded by Big Name big price companies, MTD makes CTC, Troybuilt, Yard Machine among others and their own brand. On my 4th mower in 35 years with years left in it, I cut a 75 x 175 foot lot, buy cheap, do basic maintenance , if a repair is beyond your abilities, it is best to trash it and buy again as shop fees are outta sight I'm running one of these now , good mower without sticker shock and watch it comes on sale. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/yard-machines-140cc-3-in-1-gas-lawn-mower-21-in-2992929p.html#srp
  23. Saw a boat out around the mudline off the Grimsby pier this morning. Maybe a quarter mile offshore.
  24. Made a Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry, it was only 7 smart points
  25. I fished the branch called Baltimore Creek up along Regional Road 45 working a summer job with the Conservation Authority back in '71, native Brookies ,Browns and Bows all in that branch then, caught my first decent Brown there, 17 inch . Never been back.
