  1. Yes, we use this place locally for specialty meat items http://50pointmarket.ca/
  2. Yeah OI, I don't get meats much at Basics, the one in Grimsby doesn't cut meat, it is all bused in prepackaged, so I question the freshness and handling. Make the trip down the road to Superstore for meat and more recently the new Costco. Really, I don't see how our Sobey's stays in business, their sales flyer prices are often higher than Basics regular price
  3. I've done the grocery shopping the 9 years I've been retired and so far week in and week out Food Basics has the best sale and even more important the best regular pricing.
  4. I just get " Window's Technical Dept" saying there is a problem with my computer, some chick with important info about my present credit card balance ( never says which card ) and our daily air duct cleaning services with an AngloSaxon name and a heavy Punjabi accent
  5. Same here, I've lost 60 and my wife 70 in the past year, we do Weight Watchers, it is pretty easy to follow and still eat till satisfied but carbs are not your friend in its programme.
  6. I had a tree removed due to storm damage a month ago, they piled it on the side street( corner lot) and it was gone in 3 or 4 days with an add on KIJIJI , even though it was Willow . I had to call when it was gone and he took the add down.
  7. I always cheated, used a bread machine on dough cycle, but I always baked in bread pans and did an extra raise as I hated the paddle tearout and the non traditional shape. Bulk store is your friend for neat stuff to add to the dough.
  8. Lake O must be pretty warm still, CHCH is reporting minus 17 C this morning, I assume that is at the airport, here along the lake we are at minus 9 C, warmer in winter ......cooler in summer
  9. We got a new Costco on the QEW at Fifty Road recently , they have whole lambs in a canvas bag in the freezer section. They are probably playing to the Italian market like Loblaw''s does with Fortino's as they are in actually in Tony Creek.

  11. Why is everyone giving temps on the Cillyazz scale and then giving the ice thickness in inches
  12. My oldest grand daughter was born that year
  13. maybe he was born in '95
  14. I burned out a few of those, do yourself a favour and get a small compressor for not a lot more money, you'll find it handy for a lot of other thing than just inflating tires even with out airtools , cleaning air conditioners, vacuums and other dust collectors.
  15. some more Muddy, have had a bootleg DVD of this show for a long time, outstanding image quality for '76.
  16. Been heating with natural gas fireplaces for 20 years, big one upstairs and a smaller one in the basement, don't even have a furnace any more, but we are only 2 bedrooms and 900 sq.ft. in the banana belt. Equal billing for gas is a bit over a hundred and that includes hot water and the kitchen stove , ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms keep cold spots to a minimum. Looks good Lew, my living room gas burner is identical to your old wood burner in the basement.
  17. yes, much bigger, the one in the picture is a weasel/ ermine when in white winter phase, hardly bigger than a red squirrel, at least the ones I've shot when they raided the rabbit hutches as a kid.
  18. We hated weasels as kids, they would get into the rabbit hutches and a single weasel would kill a half dozen rabbits just for fun as how much can an animal the size of a red squirrel eat? We'd shoot them on sight as teens, got chickens as well when we had them. So much for predators killing only what they can eat edit: they turn white in winter just like a Snowshoe Hare, made for easy picking if we lost snow during the January thaw
  19. Nice shot but it looks like an Oldsquaw to me
  20. At 67 with COPD , I recommend fishing the upper river, you can fish Fort Erie a few yards from your vehicle, the fish are cleaner if you want one for the table and there are frequent incidental walleyes as well with the right presentation. Only masochists fish the whirlpool and glen after the age of 50.
  21. Interesting, a few years back I read that Lake Ontario Rainbows have been showing up in East Coast Atlantic Salmon Rivers , much to the dismay of fisheries manager, as well.
  22. Didn't we get a top rated Dman from a western club before that liked to score on his own net before ? think he's in Ottawa now
  23. Been pretty windy, last cloudless look on the radar it looked like chocolate milk spewing into Lake Ontario. Might be clear by the weekend. https://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.php?region=e&page=1&template=sub&image=a1.17332.1812.LakeErie.143.250m.jpg
  24. Happens here too, gun sales soared when the long gun registry was scrapped and again when the Liberals took power, I suspect ammo followed the same trend.
  25. They get pike perch and the odd brown in the marina at Fifty Point Point through the ice.
