  1. where is this shop that only charges $60 a hour for labour ?
  2. Forget about lead near water where there is a chance of waterfowl ingesting it when feeding, heck, we even have to use steel on woodcock in a woodlot or field shooting waterfowl in grainfields miles from any waterbody.
  3. The big factor that no one is mentioning in the loss of manufacturing is the high price of electric power today , historically cheap power starting with the development of Niagara Falls was the drawing card here. I worked on an environmental assessment of the Nanticoke site before the power plant was built many years ago, watched as Stelco and others were drawn there for the power, that era is over.
  4. this seems to be working well at this point , time will tell https://cyberflixtv.xyz/
  5. You are never going to reduce the population enough by shooting them to have any effect on numbers but by being able to shoot them we will able to discourage them from colonizing sensitive areas and maybe reduce the breeding success by forcing them to abandon nests.
  6. Shot and cooked a Merganser ONCE?, these would be worse. I was 15 , mom wouldn't let me cook it in the house, had to do it outside, smart woman.
  7. They are harvesting the icewine now, probably the earliest ever, many years it is not cold enough till after Christmas.
  8. you're right bring them home and green bin them, migratory bird act applies, steel shot and 50 a day bag limit says so here https://www.oodmag.com/news/cormorant-hunt-works/
  9. If this cormorant cull shoot goes through, as a very experienced waterfowl shooter in my younger years, there is probably a lot going to die a lingering death especially if you can let them lay and don't have to recover them, just saying. I shot a few coyotes for fur back in the late 70's early 80's, but a 75 gr Hornady hollow point at 3400 fps out of a 6MM Remington they didn't suffer ?
  10. They need to stay on the road more ?
  11. Some guy by the name Hendrix played the same way ?
  12. read this before making a purchase of the Baofeng's, you are on your own ? https://forums.radioreference.com/budget-entry-level-transceivers/274643-canadian-legal-gmrs-beofeng-uv5.html
  13. Not really legal but these would work https://baofengtech.com/ they are cheap all over Amazon
  14. but high definition , photo realistic paints jobs seem to be necessary to catch the fisherman ?
  15. some more Coco with his upside down , backwards strung guitar.
  16. ? what do expect when the Iceman taught you to play guitar and you do a stint with John Mayall . Got 4 or 5 of his cd's on file, should be way more popular.
  17. 50 bucks US https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Fish-Hawk-520-Depth-Counter-Temperature-520-Tested-NEW-Battery-/352508847254
  18. When I started , it was all about temperature, I'd rather leave port with out my graph recorder than my Fish Hawk 520 temperature probe. First order of the day was to attach the probe to the downrigger ball and get a temperature profile before lines were even set. Most fish you marked were inactive, loafing down in the cooler water, you targeted the fish suspended just below the thermocline.
  19. Ontario is a lot clearer than when I started offshore salmon fishing in the 70's, also, the fishery back then was for Cohos, they were crazy , they would attack a dodger/fly 20 feet down and 5 feet off the ball, when a Chinook fishery started in the early 80's we quickly learned they were more boat shy. That and the improved water clarity with the proliferation of zebra mussels started the trend to more stealthy presentations like dipseys and boards off to the side
  20. I also noticed how the bubbles were breaking off the cables, that, and steering the boat like a drunken sailor ? put more fish in the box.
  21. Beauty, nice that there is now some lakes open after the traditional end of Sept closer, they do colour up real pretty in spawning season. My years in Haliburton , took a few late Sept weeks holiday when the partridge opening week and the last week of specs overlapped, but they were not in full colour yet.
  22. back in the pre GPS days of paper graphs and loran C , I ran a sailboat knotmeter for salmon on Lake Ontario and Pickerel on Lake Erie, analog device with a stern mounted paddle wheel, worked well, the brand name was Pelican if I recall.
  23. Agreed, it's probably a yearling buck , born spring of 2017, sexually mature but of poor genetics for antler growth, definitely should be culled if you want to manage the herd for trophy animals ?
  24. Those guys and redpolls come to niger seed feeder if it gets particularly bad in winter, for the most part that feeder gets Goldfinches and House Finches.
