Public Service Announcement/Movie rental, save your $$

You can still rent movies ? ? only liked him in " Conair " that was eons ago -
Canadian side, anywhere from Bowen Road to the train bridge, white twister tails on 1/4 to 1/2 oz. jigs is as good as any and you can see you vehicle in the parking lot, no respirator required. I'll fish the lower from shore when the salmon and trout are there spring and fall but the upper is far better in my experience from shore for bass, walleye and other warm water species in summer.

Stop at Fishin Niagara near the launch in Fort Erie, Denis is the go to guy for info on the upper Niagara.

On the other hand as one that has fished Erie for 60 years, long before the Goby and Zebra Mussels, 6 is the new 4 when it comes to smallies .

With that many Pickeral I wonder why ? I wonder if it will go the way of Lake Ontario with the average size of fish going down ? Over the years the biggest salmon has lost almost 10 pounds because of the collapse of the alewife population.

No question an outrigger is not a good option if the flow has a lot of rocks, I was just saying that a 60 pound , 4 horse outboard hung off centre on a side bracket is a recipe for a capsize based on my experience. FWIW, you only need one outrigger, the flotation of the pontoon on the outrigger keeps the canoe from tipping one way and the weight of the pontoon off to the side keeps it from tipping the other way.

Ran an air cooled, 25 pound Johnson 2 HP on a side bracket on a handmade 16 fibreglass covered cedar strip with a good beam and depth, a 65 pound canoe for quite a few years. At anything near full throttle maneuvers had to be gentle, IMHO, 60 pounds is too much for a side bracket more so than the horsepower, yeah I'd definitely want the extra stability of outriggers .

Hasn't Legend sourced their hulls from a number of different manufacturers over the years ? Fisher and Smokercraft come to mind , maybe others ? Some may be better than others edit: interesting older thread https://ontariofishingcommunity.com/topic/44468-does-smoker-craft-build-legend-boats/

started U of T , fall of '69, met a few that actually were there -
I recall when I went from a van to a pickup I needed height to level the trailer, there was about three sets of holes for the bolts at the ends of the springs to make an adjustment if you want a bit more clearance. It was an Easy Loader trailer.

Coming up on the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, about the only good thing about being 69 is the music of my youth didn't suck. -
I haven't been to Barry's Bay in over 50 years but what I do remember is that every business seemed to be owned by some one with the name Yakabuski ?

I camped there with my parents for 2 X 3 weeks stints , consecutive summers back in the 60's. First year it was a private campground then the government bought it the second year. The river was full of snot rocket pike as i recall never did catch any decent. The lake we caught pickeral, smallmouth , lakers and a whitefish. I did get a few largies in the marshy area where the river dumps into the lake. The park has a very good beach area and you should be able to launch your zodiac on the beach or into the river in the park. I canoed a long ways up river but it meanders greatly , lots of oxbows and the fishing sucked .ie snotrockets. You may want to drive back roads with an ultralight , we got into a lot of pan sized specs in the creeks. Maybe things have changed in over 50 years ? Kayak Fishing on Mountsberg Reservoir for Pike (Video)
dave524 replied to popofish!'s topic in General Discussion
Might do some good, a lot of time numerous fish like that is a symptom of overpopulation, thinning the herd might increase the average size. I have seen farm ponds with a kazillion stunted bluegills and beaver ponds likewise with copious small specs. -
Years ago when I lived at Long Point on Lake Erie, we would often fish the lake side of the point at night, sort like surf casting using cut bait and shrimp, we would get Channel Cats up to 20 or so pounds. Caught them all summer right up until duck season opened. Might be worth a try.
