NO , this is Liberal Policy LIBERAL FIREARMS POLICY We will take action to get handguns and assault weapons off our streets. Over the last decade, Stephen Harper has steadily weakened our gun laws in ways that make Canadians more vulnerable and communities more dangerous. We will take pragmatic action to make it harder for criminals to get, and use, handguns and assault weapons. We will: • repeal changes made by Bill C-42 that allow restricted and prohibited weapons to be freely transported without a permit, and we will put decision-making about weapons restrictions back in the hands of police, not politicians; • provide $100 million each year to the provinces and territories to support guns and gangs police task forces to take illegal guns off our streets and reduce gang violence; • modify the membership of the Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee to include knowledgeable law enforcement officers, public health advocates, representatives from women’s groups, and members of the legal community; • require enhanced background checks for anyone seeking to purchase a handgun or other restricted firearm; • require purchasers of firearms to show a license when they buy a gun, and require all sellers of firearms to confirm that the license is valid before completing the sale; • require firearms vendors to keep records of all firearms inventory and sales to assist police in investigating firearms trafficking and other gun crimes; • immediately implement the imported gun marking regulations that have been repeatedly delayed by Stephen Harper; and • as part of our investment in border infrastructure, invest in technologies to enhance our border guards’ ability to detect and halt illegal guns from the United States entering into Canada. We will not create a new national long-gun registry to replace the one that has been dismantled. We will ensure that Canada becomes a party to the international Arms Trade Treaty. -------

Tactical Flashlight - Recommendations Please (NF - sort of)
dave524 replied to T-Bone's topic in General Discussion
I've got a 3 D cell Maglite that dates from the late 70's, better flashlights out there now , but from a tactical standpoint you definitely wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a crack on the head, lives in a handy spot for noises in the night. -
Seriously, I'd take The Dead concert.

Port Hope is looking to make fishing regs changes.

Brian , I am not saying that Chinooks won't hit in a river, just that a lot of what appears to be legit upon landing is actually not. I've had enough monster hits swinging a spinner or hotshotting a flatfish to know they do but then again there has been those barely perceptible float bumps that come up with a questionable legally hooked fish. Glad you got a place away from the crap, I don't touch rivers anymore until the boots are gone but welcome a late Coho run and of course Bows and Browns.. -

Yes , a spawn sack below a float even, surprising how frequently they end up in a salmon mouth, especially a kyped up male with no action on the part of the fish. edit: not saying in every case but frequently, fly fishing is some of the best flossing which look like legal hookups upon landing -
His approach was the spot on. A handgun is a defensive weapon and he stated he was quite a ways from the shooting. You defend your position and those around you , you don't play Rambo, going up against an semi auto rifle with a concealable handgun is foolhardy to use a kind word.

Some one with a lot of experience and the ability to make accurate observations on that experience has just spoken. Not only are Coho a far better fish once they hit the river from a real angling standpoint but they are by far the best eating of any of the salmonoides/trouts when caught in the lake. Most people that think they legally hooked a Chinook upstream in a river actually flossed it if the truth were known, lot of people out there are conning themselves. -

How could this happen, I thought campuses were gun free zones

I've shot lead on waterfowl from 65 till it was banned, Hunting Instructor for the MNR and also competitive trap and skeet, 125 yds no way, 70 maybe, you'd be lucky to scare them at 125 yds.

It is now the 150th anniversary of Sam Wilmot first rearing Atlantic Salmon at a the mouth of Wilmot Creek in an attempt to reintroduce them to Lake Ontario in 1865.

So , ship them back in 8 or 12 years or whatever after they have served their life sentence

Smaller town and rural US has crime statistics not unlike Canada, it is when you get to certain districts in majour urban centres like NYC, New Jersey, D.C. , Detroit, Chicago etc. that things get really skewed , funny too that those areas have gun control at the state and city level stricter than we have in Canada. We just luckily don't have those urban hotspots yet.

Backwards, waterfowl are Federal and moose is Provincial. Shooting from a boat under power is definitely illegal. Some of what you saw was illegal, all of it unethical. As a teen I thought shooting sitting partridge was unethical living in Niagara, then dad bought a cottage up north, attitudes changed.

Going to guess an old Stevens double, started on one of dad's in 20ga. back in 65, guy sold me ( actually i stole it for 50 bucks) a 16 ga. about 20 years ago. Think Savage bought them at sometime and continued the same gun under their banner, but that checkering looks like a 50's era gun. Nice bird, they were my favourite.

Nice shots, the Lancaster Bomber made a couple of low passes over the house a hour or so ago, sorry no photo. The Herc over the house usually means looking for a casualty on the lake.

Any spec I've caught this late in the season has been really coloured up, especially the males, spawning time and colours. Slight notch to the tail ? maybe Splake of some sort.

The RedStar actually has it reversed and forecasting a majourity,, probably just a ploy to motivate the " anybody but Harper brigade". http://www.thestar.com/news/federal-election/2015/09/24/conservatives-swing-into-lead-close-in-on-majority-government-new-poll-suggests.html
