My fishing partners aren't going to be able to go till Sunday. I'm sure the bass will still be there. Good luck to all this weekend.

Congrats Limey, you snuck one past the goalie

Enjoy your camping trip and good luck on the water.

I use shrinkpictures.com to resize and myfishingpictures.com for image hosting. Both pretty simple to use.

You must have missed it TbayBoy, we fished out of the Sportspals for musky opener on Sturgeon. Here's the link to the report. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20405

Thunder storms + bass opener = Waste of time?

In more than half of my PB photos, I'm wearing a rainsuit. I've already lost 2 rods to lightning (one was an actual lightning rod made by Berkley) so I know what that's about. When your rod emits a buzzing sound as you point it to the sky, that's a good time to quit. -
Ha...ricoboxing , the first thing I thought was...Tie some treble hooks to it's legs and troll it to shore, and along side any nice weedbeds we might come across, on the way.

Brother Joonmoon was off Thursday (continental shift) and I'm on holidays so we thought we would try some Kawarthas fishing in my Sportspal. Kept a close eye on the weather and wind reports so we could make a wise decision about where to try. With wind at 10-15km/h out of the SW we decided we could safely try lake Scugog. I've been there once with a buddy in his big Lund and Joonmoon has done some ice-fishing there in the past. We made the decision to launch at Caesarea and go west towards the deepest part of the lake. After walking my little one to her last day of grade 2 we drove the 200km and arrived at 12noon. We found the 20ft deep area and began drifting in and out of the weeds closest to deep water. We started catching crappies right away. Then Joonmoon gets this little cigar walleye. We also landed many small perch, some good sized WGSF and several oos largemouth all on jig and grub combos. I tried for musky for about an hour but had no takers or followers. Then the thunder started to get louder so we let the drift bring us in a little closer to the shoreline and resumed our crappie fishing. I kept 3 fish between 9-11" for a late night snack and released this 13" crappie as well as about 10 others under 9". You can see the rain coming in the backround of this pic. It started to rain around 4pm so we put on the raingear and landed a few more before calling it quits at 5pm. After setting everything out to dry I cleaned and cooked my three crappie and ate them at 11pm. I always hated it when people posted pics like this, so now it's my turn. Tasted awesome. Thanks to roasted garlic & butter Fish Crisp. Thanks to Joonmoon for a great day on the water. Next time we will try up near Birch island and maybe get a musky or two.

After a dozen years, I think I might be back

Welcome back. Great story. You've come to the right place for help. Orangeville's Island lake conservation area is a good place for taking a kid. They have rental boats, canoes and kayaks. They have bass and pike as well as loads of panfish for the kiddies. -
I only fish topwater at night and use only black jitterbugs. Cast and let it sit for 60 seconds, then reel at the speed that gives you the most pop, pop, pop noise. Stop occasionally, then start reeling again. Remember don't set the hook until you feel the weight of the fish. When you get a hit it will sound like someone just flushed a toilet.

After walking my little one to school this morning, I went to Guelph lake conservation area with my kayak. http://www.grandriver.ca/index/document.cf...=126&sub2=0 I put in the water at 11am and fished until 3pm. My biggest crappie ever (13.5") was caught there about 12 yrs ago, and I'd seen bigger ones caught there by others. I had a game plan, or milk run, that I hoped would give me the best chance to hook up with a big slab with minimal paddling. The young woman at the gatehouse told me a guy caught a 38" pike near the dam on Monday and released it. I wasn't going to be tempted. I started in the creek arms and was alarmed to see three osprey nesting platforms were toppled. I was using a 1/16oz jig & grub combo in black and picked up numerous small perch, 2 oos smallmouth under 12" and one good sized WGSF. Moving out of the creek arms I switched up to a white jig & grub combo, still at 1/16oz, and worked an area I had spotted several winters ago. I used to go out New Years day for a lake bottom walk with my brother, or other fishin buddies, to scout potential spots. After getting 2 more rockbass, I finally got what I came for. Once I saw it my heart started pumping like when I get a musky on. It was hooked in the roof of the mouth and fought like mad, even turning the kayak 180 degrees. It measured 14" and was released. It was also the first fish I've kissed this year. While finishing my run I picked up a few more perch and one hammer handle pike. All in all a good variety of species and a new PB while enjoying my first week of holidays this summer.

Great looking fish. It's been awhile since I tried for a Scugog ski, maybe later this week.

Great pics and report holdfast. My parents are driving to SK in a few weeks to visit long lost relatives, my Mother was born in Kelvington, one of her cousins is going to take my Dad out fishing. Beautiful scenery .

Two in the kayak and one in a rental boat.

Nice pike armpit. I might be making a trip up to the school there in the near future. I'll be bringing my kayak with me for sure.

Great report and pics. Half a dozen sheephead and good fishing company, well than clam was just icing on the cake.

Excellent Great pics I gave my daughter an ultra-light spinning reel when she was two. It was attached to a ice-fishing rod with a hookless rubber frog tied on. She would cast it around the house and get our pet rat to chase it on the floor. Gotta keep it fun.

Nice job. Good to see Scugog still producing small but very healthy looking skis.
