  1. Welcome Ryan. I used to fish the river in Lindsay as a kid. I caught my first musky below the old railway bridge. Is there still a boathouse in town with about a hundred musky heads nailed to it?
  2. I'm going up to Pigeon with the family this Saturday for a week of fun and fishing. My daughter wants to know how cold the water will be at the beach. She checked her Grandma's pool today and it was 79F. Just wondering what temp readings you guys have observed recently. Thanks.
  3. It's nice to be able to walk to a fishing hole. Good luck with the carp.
  4. You should have no problem launching a 16'er at their ramp. It is a "No Gas Motors" lake, but you probably already knew that
  5. Great start. Nice pics, especially the smallie.
  6. I hope you've already made reservations, that park fills fast for the summer months. Fishing is great for largemouth in the lily pads. You can also get muskies on spinnerbaits and the odd walleye in the mornings or evenings on jigs.
  7. How big is your boat?
  8. Great report and pics Bro. That "Cooler w/seats" really gets around doesn't it. Nice walleye Goog and nice pikey Bro. Soon you'll be chasing skis on Pigeon.
  9. Those ponds receive lots of fishing pressure. I've always had better luck in the spring there when fishing for crappie. You could always fish the river there for smallies, or try live bait for the many carp in the ponds.
  10. Saw it. Man it's a little intense. It's going to be tough to keep up that level of excitement up in every episode. Hugh is a pretty good actor for a punk rocker. I remember him in Bruce's hardcore logo a number of years ago. Well done.
  11. Welcome aboard Mark, have you tried Kelso yet?
  12. Way to show those tournament geeks how it's done nice bass!
  13. How are the weeds and water level johnl?
  14. If you have any of the old red coloured powerbaits they will bleed colour into anything else they touch.
  15. Junior-under 16yrs, Senior-over 16yrs.
  16. Nice bass gentlemen, I see you found the smallies OK. How was the current?
  17. Arrived at Valens at 10am with the kayak and had till 2pm to catch a big one. Many boats on the water and just as many shore fishermen. I caught one hammerhandle pike and a WGSF in 3hrs. Packed up the yak at 1pm and went to buy some grub at the concession. Not everyone was at Valens for the Derby. The beach was packed as everyone was trying to keep cool. The crowd started gathering at the weigh station for the 2pm closing. This guy was wading near the beach when he caught this fish and made it to the scales with less than 5min remaining. It was 4lbs even and with a 6oz bonus for live release it was good for 3rd place. He caught it on a jointed rapala in gold w/black back. The top three bass were: 4lb13oz/20.5", 4lb8oz/18", 4lb6oz/17.5" Top three pike were: 6lb2oz/31.75", 5lb13oz/31.5", 5lb9oz/28.5" Keep in mind the 6oz added on for live release. Trolling motors were for first in each category and the big trolling motor was the grand draw prize. I got squat, as usual, at the draw prizes. A young girl won 1st and 3rd in junior bass as well as 1st in panfish. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the weather held up with a little rain around 10:30am.
  18. Conservation area "No Gas Motor" lakes, the Kawarthas, ponds, quarries, and rivers.
  19. That sounds like a great week to me. Thanks for sharing your report and pics.
  20. No nancur373 it's a "No Gas Motors" conservation area resevior. Bigfisherman, they have a launch that is gravel into water less than 3ft deep. One big dock at the launch and kms of dock and wooden bridge fishing for shorebounders. Here's a link to some pics of valens. http://www.conservationhamilton.ca/InfoTra...alensphotos.asp?
  21. Tomorrow
  22. I use powerbait amost exclusively I have stuff 10yrs old that still catches fish.
  23. I too love my drift sock. So much so that I even game it a name. Ed, yes that's right, Ed the sock
  24. All of the prizes are given by local business. Last year they had a FF, rod&reel combos, tickets to a Ti-cats game, t-shirts and hats, cooler bags and tackle packages. Most of it is crap, but the kids love it. They have trophies that you'll get your name on but stay at the park. The kids get trophies to take home if they win. The categories are bass & pike over 16yrs of age and bass, pike & panfish for under 16yrs of age. It's really a fun for the whole family type of tournament. The same guy has won the bass trophy for the last few years and a couple guys alternate winning the pike trophy. The # for info is 905-525-2183. The guy in charge is Gord, if I remember correctly, ask for him and you'll get more info. Most of the summer workers are students probably working their first summer and don't have the answers you're looking for. I found a link to my report from last years derby. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...st=0#entry93984
