The general rule is no more than 10% difference. So that motor looks good. Check all the head bolts for signs of wrenches. Check lower unit oil.

Here,s a laugh. Hooks,Jigs, drop shot parts. The very best thing is not made by the fishing industry. Medical sample jars yes "pee bottles". Made to keep all the liquid in they also keep moisture out. Get the 2oz, the sides are strait and fit nice in most tackle boxes. I set up bottle for t rig, dropshot then stick in pocket when fishing that style. They hold 3-4 flipping jigs. The 4oz bottles are super for packing roe.

1950's Era, Japanese 5 piece Fly Rod Collectable
Garnet replied to Darrel's topic in General Discussion
Bassmasters Mag. has a What's it Worth antique tackle every month. Have seen lot's of fly rods just can't put my hands on issue right now. -
Take your jumper cables and hook good battery to one not charging then plug in your charger. This will get around the automatic shut off described. Let charge for half hour then remove jumper cables. To check if your charger is working get any meter that shows volts and hook to battery make note volts 12.3 then plug charger in and volts will go up to 13.5 our higher.
-
Hook your meter to your battery. It should say 12.5 now plug your charger in and the volts should go to 13.5-14.5. This might take a minute. Clean connection is the #1 cos of poor charging so take every connection apart wire brush clean and apply white electrical grease.

Questions about deep cycle battery and charger
Garnet replied to rhymobot's topic in General Discussion
Any battery that has less than 12.25 volts is junk. There is connection broke and 1 cell is dead. Yes you can charge it up but it will crap out quick and if hooked to another battery they both will die quickly. Few hours. My experience 12 years in a battery manufacture. -
Run the Merc oil. If you get into a warranty situation even pass date Merc is pretty good about helping you out. BUT.......The first question will be "what oil are you running"? I even had a RUDE with major electric problems that went passed warranty what question did they ask What oil is this customer using. I didn't get the connect between oil and electrical and it was clear things were not going to work out if I cheeped on oil. After the warranty is dead use what you want but 2 strokes always run better with good oil.

Serious towing with a Safari / Astro Van?
Garnet replied to Rattletrap2's topic in General Discussion
Theirs 3 models of Safari's, the LE was 4500, SE 5000, and AWD 5500. Mine was the SE 1999 that I towed a 20ft bassboat 300,000k. The manual recommends towing in 3rd gear. It wasn't great on hills but always did the job. With mine I took the center seat out for storage space. I would trade my Sierra crewcab for a new Sahari in a heart beat just slide that door open and pile all tackle clothes rods in and go. -
Grant or Rocky will mail that part to you. "BUT" that wheel on the motor head will take serous head scratching to get it right. I would be waiting at Rocky's door about 7:30am with my best puppy dog look and Rocky will usually fix you up. And he likes beer!

Surface water temp. is just something useless we talk about. Our job every time we go on the water is to find fish. So on your fav. lake deep is 4ft so turn around and check it. More important to me is general activity levels bugs, birds, minnows, water color. Then what the weather leading up to fishing day, is the weather improving or is there front every day or two will determine how aggressive I will start out fishing then let the fish tell me what to do. On Scugog I rarely turn my fish finders on.

Fish jumping is just to much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theirs a fine line between no pressure and just the right amount. Steelheaders get good at this. Letum jump and have fun.

High Quality RX glass is definitively worth the money. Amber/brown are best in all light conditions even seem to make fish stand out better. Currently wearing Bluewater Optic's.

Get Blackbird Accessory Swivels super tiny 30lb swivel and kiss the twist good bye. Look in the steelhead area.

For a back up the donut spare for most GM/Ford/Chrysler will fit tailor hubs. I learned from misery.

That's great the angle I was thinking was using higher octane than manufacture suggested and how you are wasting money and polluting or water ways more than necessary. Many believe it's a cheap ticket to better performance and better for long term engine life. Find your local speed shop and they will tell lot's.
-
Raf you right. Was just trying to keep it simpler for non gear heads. Unless you want a basket of broken parts just run what the manufacture suggests.

Mine was yesterday Lake Scugog between Cessarea and Washbren. I wasn't driving fast or slow 50-60 mph and up pops a head. I react by adjusting my course no harm. I think the guy knows his boat is hard to spot. Buddy's boat was white with windshield that blended into the white caps and light conditions. Every close call has been with seadoo'rs.

The point is don't edit my words in my post. This is a real article that Craig Richie should investigate and write. The other side is people that put 87 octane in high compression motors (require 94). They say it's all bull I'm saving money. What happens is your piston are getting close to TDC (top dead center) and the compression ignites the gas. So your piston is going up when the explosion happens. This breaks valves, burns holes in piston spins bearings and ultimately blows holes in your cylinder walls. Very expensive lessons. Back to running 94 octane in 89 octane motors. Hot Rodders do this stuff by retarding time changing fuel flow and messing with other stuff. Make sure you know what you are doing.

You need to go back and read 12ft's reply were he changed my writing for his wrong knowledge.

12footSpringbuc you fix nothing and please would the mods. deal with this. Premium gas takes a high compression engine to make low flash gas to burn completely. You run low compression engine with premium gas you get incomplete burn left over carbon bad plugs. Shell gas or not you are still pissing raw fuel and carbon into my lake. If you like wasting money burn it your Barbie Q or give it to charity.
