  1. Hey guys anyone out there still flipping with heavy mono or fluoro? I have a heavy rod with 50lb braid but was thinking of using 20lb test on my med heavy rod. Reason being is I think it will help with line tangle from short pitches and flips on my casting reel with the thicker diameter mono vs braid?
  2. congratulations, that must have been a rush to see that fish surface. I can't wait to catch a trophy like that.
  3. Pigeon would be my choice. If you strike out on the muskie the smallies should cooperate.

    Drop shot

thanks guys. That vmc hook looks great. Should stop all the line twist. In the mean time I guess I will use a swivel and hope that helps the problem.
  5. Hey guys, Im running P line fluoro coated line and im getting line twist. What do you guys do to stop this? Thanks
  6. I know if you upload your pics to photobucket you can edit the pics there and it will give you the effects your looking for.
  7. Hey guys, just wondering what the reg's are for the U.S. side. I have the book with all the info on the canadian side. I heard that you must wear your lifejacket at all times. Something about a throw pillow? Thanks
  8. I just repack mine. The bearings look like there is a bit more wear on them through two years. I'm going to run them this year and see what they look like next year. If you don't feel any scratches on the races and the bearings look good no point to change them out. Then again you can't go wrong with changing them every year. More cost but more peace of mind.
  9. I changed a set of bearings and races two years ago from canadian tire. Don't remember which ones. I think it also had the seals. Was a complete kit. Things have been fine. I have now been buying my seals from princess auto and they are double seals. I find them much better than the ones from canadian tire. Again so far I have had no problems with the bearings I bought. I repack them once a year. I just use regular dust caps. Things are good. Hope this sheds some light for others.
  10. I doubt they will work for you cause you seem like their not worth it, and therefore would have no confindence using gulp. Fishing is all confidence.
  11. Where is this info well know? I bought a small legend and have had no problems with it. For that matter I see lots of them while fishing and some of them are old models and they seem to be working fine. If the legend boat is the boat you like and it has what you need then half the battle is over. As for what motor to get? As others have stated get the max or close to the max you can afford. You can never have to much power. Good luck with what ever you end up with. One last thing I will add is, make sure your happy with the dealer. I've talked to some and they don't seem to know much about the boats they sell or have an attitude that is not very appealing. If you don't get the service you want then go else where.
  12. I've said it before and will say it again. If you don't get the service you want shop else where. In todays economy everyone is competing for your dollar and after you give it to them they could care less about you. I learned my lesson and shop at a local shop Bills Bait and tackle. The deals and customer service I get there is top notch. One thing I would have done is complain to management about your issue. I know you had to go but to just drop things and leave no one knows that you were unhappy with the service. If everyone complains they will eventually have to do something about it.
  13. Bills bait and tackle Hamilton. Great customer service and they greet just about everyone that walks in the door by name.
  14. Just one note to add. I bought a used zodiac and when I went to look at it the guy didn't have the right pump for it to blow it up so we managed to inflate it about 50%. No leaks no problem. Then once I got the proper pump to inflate to full pressure I had a seem blow on it. So if you haven't already bought the boat. Make sure it get's inflated to full pressure and see if it holds. Nice looking rig. Glue in normal.
  15. I had a titan inflatable boat. It was 12' with aluminum floor. Once you get the hang of placing the stringers with the floor it's just a matter of blowing it up. Between 20-30min should be right. I could carry mine with two people but it was tough. I ended up getting a trailer for it and left it inflated. It becomes quite a chore inflating and deflating every use. You will soon find out. And deflating is always harder because your tired from fishing all day and the last thing you want is to take it all apart and put everything away before you leave. I had a 15hp on mine and with two medium built people it would plane ok. By myself I could get about 25mph on gps. I doubt you will hit that with a 9.9 All in all it's a great boat very durable and stable. Try and get a feel for what he is asking for the boat and hope it's in your price range. Good luck
  16. If it was so unsafe why are they selling the product to fill 1 lb bottles?
  17. excellent point. That's why I went with the H20 expedition. Compatible with my unit for boat. Been using it for 3 years no problems.
  18. stop with all the scare hype on filling the 1lb bottles. Tell me what's the difference when I go to crappy tire with my 20lb tank and the kid fills it up from the huge tank that we are both standing beside. I should be more worried about that huge tank exploding than filling a 1lb bottle. No one is forcing anyone to fill 1lb bottles. You don't want to do it don't buy them. If you do you can save some money. Done
  19. My buddy went to CT to get the line and they were sold out which is usual for CT. But he got rain-checks so It's all good.
  20. just buy a US licence and you can fish for bass in May.
  21. I just bought the nav 2 and installed it. If you want to view your chips on a big screen and plan your fishing trips I would recommend it. It's another tool to help you catch more fish. I wast enough money one lures and stuff. Seems a bit expensive at first but you will have it forever. You can also print off a portion of the map and look at it that way.
  22. There is a big catfish run on the lower grand early spring. Just fish a chunk of fresh cut bait with a heavy weight and hang on.
  23. I stopped going years ago. It seems more and more there is less to do with fishing and hunting and more to do with all other out door sports. The price to get in and park is to much for me. If you can afford to go have fun.
  24. I wouldn't use a crank bait rod for flipping. Is there something I don't know? I have an extreme spinning rod and it's built very good and very sensitive. I've had it for 2yrs and I'm happy with it. I would recommend it for flipping. It's a 7' med. heavy action so I would say it's a bit heavier than the average rod IMO. Nothing wrong with having a bit of beef.
