  1. So sorry to hear it! Condolences.
  2. Old school was put them away empty. Problem with that especially on a two stroke is that if you run it dry you are leaning it out (running it without lubricant), might only be for a second or two but a chain saw typically runs at about 12,000 RPM. It probably won't ruin your engine short term but it sure doesn't do it any good. The other thing with running things dry is that diaphragms and seals can dry out. IMHO the best thing you can do is use high test gas (mixed with oil on two strokes) and store them full. My chain saw is 20 years old and still starts within three pulls even if it's been sitting for 6 months or more.
  3. There is a big storm and a flood. Guy is standing on his porch, house surrounded by water. A good samaritan comes by in a canoe and offers him a lift. Guy says no thanks the lord will take care of me. Water keeps rising, guy is on his porch roof; water is almost up to his feet. A good samaritan comes by in a boat and offers him a lift. Guy says no thanks the lord will take care of me. Water keeps rising, guy is now standing on the peak of his roof. A good samaritan comes by in a helicopter and offers him a lift. Guy says no thanks the lord will take care of me. Guy drowns and goes up to heaven, he looks at the lord and asks why? I had faith that you would take care of me! Lord looks at him and said "I sent a canoe, I sent a boat, I sent a helicopter, what more did you expect me to do?
  4. Try Kijiji, I just looked on there and found several people in our area that are selling loads of logs. If that doesn't work out for you let me know, I'll talk to the guys at work (all local farmers and such) and see who they recommend.
  5. It is reported that only 1 in 6 actually have flood insurance and I just heard on the radio that the storm has turned, is heading back to shore and expected to drop another 20+" of rain on the already flood areas. I wish I could get down there to help in some way, I feel so sorry for those that have lost everything, it must tare the heart right out of a person to watch everything you have worked so hard for destroyed like that!
  6. The closest Apple store I know of is in Newmarket
  7. A, where do you live? B, If you mean by "the bottom of the housing" you are actually referring to the air box, check to see if there is a recall on that unit, there are a number of snow blowers out there that have problems with the carbs and there is a recall on them, dealer will replace the carb for free even if it is beyond the warranty. C, if you are in the Lindsay area I'd be happy to have a look at it for you (before you try taking it apart LOL). Lastly, if you get it fixed you probably won't need it, if you don't get it fixed we'll have a winter from heck!
  8. I think you might be right, I have an I Phone 4S 8 GB and I have at times had a couple of 100 pics on it with no problems. Take it into an Apple store and ask for help, they are wonderful and it's free
  9. Good job gramps
  10. Glad to see you got out my friend, there are no better times to be had than fishing with family!
  11. Free park pass? I thought there was no charge to get into any of the parks this year. Sounds like a great deal on the food though!
  12. Right on the money! We have a shop here in Lindsay, John's Quality Auto that seems to operate on the same principals. They have a wonderful reputation for being fair and honest. When we moved South of town last year I wanted a shop that was closer to home and after reading a lot of very positive reviews I decided to give them a try, they have earned their reputation!!!!! Just one example: I was busy with work so I asked Sue to take my Nissan in and have them give it a check over before I left on my fishing trip in June. I just wanted them to make sure there were no issues with belts, hoses.......When she went back to pick it up and asked for the bill they told her there were no problems and it was no charge! There are some wonderful places out there, you can usually tell who they are, they don't need to advertise, they are always busy, and they seem to have a very low employee turn over.
  13. Toyota in this town anyway is awesome! Took my wife's Matrix in for an oil change (free one), had the snow tires in the back as I was going to change them over later that day. Got the car back and the snow tires were installed, I thought oh crap there is $25.00 bucks I didn't want to spend. Got up to the cash, no charge sir, it was due for a tire rotation so we just rotated the summer tires for the winter ones. Got a low tire pressure warning, we were right near the Toyota dealership so so I pulled in. They found a nail in the side wall, replaced the tire NO CHARGE! Don't worry about it sir we just put it through under warranty as a defective tire, have a nice trip!
  14. What make of trailer is it? On some makes the rear crossmember is bolted on and it might be less expensive just to replace it
  15. You did the work, you deserved the rewards
  16. Nothing worse than a (lousy/dishonest/incompetent) dealership!
  17. What a beautiful read and the pictures are fantastic. I'm not a "big fish" kind of guy but I have to admit those sure were some beauties, well done!
  18. I'm in Lindsay so it's a bit of a drive, you seem to have things fairly well thought out so there isn't much more that I can contribute in that regard. Good luck with the project, I'm glad to hear you decided to go wider than the 4', you;ll appreciate it later.
  19. And it's a good source of meat for the BBQ and smoker
  20. That's what you get for buying that cheep propane lol. Buddy brought me his pressure washer last week because it wouldn't run. He had just filled it up with fresh gas he bought at the reserve. Drained the tank into a clear container, 5" of water, 1/4" of gas. Cleaned everything put fresh hi test in it, started first pull and ran like brand new.
  21. First of all if it's in the Trent system you are probably going to have to get a permit before you can do anything permanent like pounding posts into the bottom. Good luck with that one, they can be hard to deal with at the best of times. I used plates (feet if you will on the bottom of my posts). Second concern would be ice; I lived on Sturgeon Lake for 16 years and saw ice bend 8" I-beams like they were wet pasta. Sch. 80 anchored into the bottom will not stand up to ice hitting it then you have the problem of trying to get it out to replace it. 4' wide and you want to sit out there and have a brew? I'd go to 5 or even 6' wide. At 4' you won't have room to walk around your chair to go get a refill. Two people even trying to pass on a 4' dock can be a challenge especially after a few brew. As for decking material, spend the extra money and go with the plastic wood type of decking, it will save you money in the long run. Take those brackets back. They are designed to pinch the post against the wood, there is a better type available from dock supply stores that actually pinches the post against the bracket, it's a bit more money but a far superior system. If you want to PM me your address I'd be happy to come look at what you have to work with and try to give you some ideas, I've built a lot of docks in the past 16 years, made a few mistakes, learned a few lessons
  22. With my friend
  23. I am still running an I Phone 4S and (4 years now) and up until just recently it has been excellent. Last week the screen froze on me (might have been something I did wrong) but I did a forced reset and so far it's been good again.
  24. Oh those poor sheep
